Holy hell. This was a good ep if i've ever seen one. Everything about it, it was fantastic. i wonder why...the only nitpick i have is that krone's death was dragged out too much. otherwise, really damn good.

What fuckery was this, how could this happen to Emma... This is why this anime is shaping up to be the best this season; it never makes sense for a story to be convenient.
Can't wait for next week.

Damn, I read the manga long ago, so I forgot a lot, but still this episode gave me goosebumps.
Adding sounds to what happening is making it even better - that broken leg and Emma's screams of pain and agony and hopelessness. The voice acting of Isabella.
I didn't like Krone but I felt sorry for her death. Also I really liked grandma's flashback's showing us that those are not the first kids who tried to escape (and that mamas are letting them try to escape... so their brains will be even more refined?... ugh).
Also it's interesting that sister Krone's farewell gift was rather hard to spot - she left a pen and small package in one of children nightstand. A pen dropped by some man from her memories when she was trained to be 'mama'.

Oh poor Norman.

This show is really full of padding.

What's was the point of Krone again? She wasn't scary, she wasn't likeable and she barely did anything for the plot. Maybe it was to show "that everyone can die" (even if it's false) or that "Isabella is a threat" (which we already knew).
Also her death lasted way too long (padding) and the flashback was a big mistake because I don't think a lot of people are gonna relate or even care. She was a caricature of an over the top vilain and not a poor, tragic character.

Second part of the episode was way better and amazingly, we finally get to see the main vilain, Isabella, in action! You know, an actual legit threat who should get more screentime! It's funny that when the show decide to stop wasting his time with pointless characters and actually let interesting ones do something, it's sudenly get's better! Crazy!

However all of this should have happened way sooner, like in episode 5 or 6. I really feel that the show wasted my time with at least three pointless episodes and I don't like this (the stuff with Krone could have been erased or reduced, the "Traitor" stuff could have been done in 1 episode and not two, erasing the supposed "character-development" of Don, etc...).

Still the show is now on the right track and I hope it will stay like this.
And no, Norman isn't gonna die. I'm actually pretty sure that no important characters are gonna bite the dust in this season.

For the first part with Krone, I felt something was shady so I wasn't that surprised when the monsters appeard. Anyway, all those scenes of her past while she was being killed were very pointless. I don't think anyone could connect to her that much in those 8 episodes (I could be wrong) to feel anything other than "fear" at that scene. They should have made it shorter and the second half longer.

maybe you're an anime only, idk, but when I read that in the manga I felt super bad for her and she instantly became one of my fav characters in this manga. then I watched the anime and I think they did it even better.

and most of the manga readers (not saying all of them) would be able to connect and like Krone after seeing her backstory.

Super tense for the second half. Kept at the edge of my seat!

I'm a bit confused though. Why did some of the older kids back in the house who doesn't know about the truth yet getting shocked and felt fear when they saw Emma injured? Did the show overexaggerated their reactions?
That kind of reaction is something I would expect from someone who already knew the truth.

The whole escape team and plan got screwed pretty bad.

Part 1 with Sister Krone, knowing that her endgame has already been set in stone since Day 1, her threat to outwit Isabella literally is an apples-to-oranges comparison, so in the same hope that she, like Emma, Norman and Ray being grown as kids in her Mom's presence, would one day escape this hellish situation and let her future come to past. And when we see Grandma, that's when all is for naught, and Krone is sent off as monster feed. What's more eerie is the entire classical music of her life flashing from start to her subtle but horrible death. Personally felt for her as a sideline character, not liking much but still a good liar.

Part 2 where Mama Isabella outwits everyone from the beginning is honestly a super intense, frightening moment: Outwits the quad after hurting Emma in the process, discarding Ray on the sideline where wingman Don manages to salvage him, and the eventual expedited shipment of Norman.

The younger kids who really don't know anything, or rather the close to 10 years old children literally shirked, like they already know their fate. Foreshadowing? We'll see.

Personally the best episode so far for the remainder of the series to date.

Krone was never meant to be a villain or tragic character. She is what Isabelle literally states what Krone was supposed to be in the show. A tool for her disposable to keep the children in control. A character that is used to show just how much power Isabelle has over the situation. The flashbacks weren't there to emit sympathy either too. They were supposed to show that Moms are selected by a higher power and that moms are nowhere near the the top of the hierarchy regarding human farms. This is all to add to the mystery of the world and how it's larger than what we think of it.

Finally a good episode again. And the best one at that!

Krones past was handled very well and the second half was exactly the kind of stuff I hoped to see more of

Now is also the first time Im sad this is just one cour, as we only have 4 eps left to bring this story to a good ending point

PS: as far as plans go having to give a signal when you fail is probably the dumbest thing ever. Because of exactly the kind of stuff which happened here

This is an adaptation, not a direct copy. Internal monologues are an obligation in manga, but I honestly hate it in anime, because there are many other ways you can transmit the characters' feelings. If you knew Emma and Norman by now, then you'd know what they said to each other just by looking at each other and what they were thinking. This was perfect.

Good episode. And maybe a type of episode we shouldn't only just be having now, 8 out of 12 episodes into it.. I know it hasn't completely been,, but it really feels like we've had 7 episodes of barely anything happening or any major progress being made. And it's frustrating since we're now practically back at square 1 in terms of where our trio are at, there's not many episodes left at all and there'll be a long wait for the second season-- if we even get one. Me thinks they set this up well to get some nice manga sales.. But at the cost of a satisfying season.
Maybe this just shouldn't have been 1-cour, or maybe they should have fastened the pace a bit for the anime, I don't know, but this hasn't worked well for me.

I'm glad that this adaptation is being so extremely well done, the manga deserved this kind of quality adaptation. This episode was just too good, if the remaining episodes are of this level of quality then we could be talking about one of the most important anime of the year.

Fantastic episode, they really nailed this episode.

Krone's death was extremely well directed, the visuals with Krone's life playing before her eyes and eventually the end where as she dies everyone in the house says "Thank you for the meal". Some really strong metaphors there.

Isabella completely owned the kids there, clearly showing who's in charge. I felt that bone crack when she twisted Emma's leg. Goddamn. x.x

Sound direction for this episode was incredible, like wow. The OST was so top notch and played in all the right moments.

Quite possibly the best episode of this adaptation yet.

I didn't think the directing was anything special, just a typical shounen flashback dragged out death scene, kinda had to laugh at how edgy it was. It sucks how there's not much animation going on why cloverworks just why

So all the "Moms" in control of "plants" used to be high quality kids? Why wouldn't they just use another farm to bring up "Moms". Maybe so they know how it's like to be a kid in a farm and accept there's no other way out, if they were brought up somewhere else coming in contact with ignorant happy kids could influence them.

It's hard to decide if any of the humans who help monsters are bad if the whole planet got took over lol

Sometimes monologue is necessary, sometimes it isn't. But when it comes to geniuses communicating with eye contacts, we normal people who 1. are not geniuses 2. cannot relate to them and live in their shoes and 3. cannot think like them, it'll be hard for us to guess what they're thinking just by seeing their change in facial expressions. This scene in this episode is when monologue really is necessary.

Krone is not pointless. she is necessary. she's like the mini bosses you gotta defeat in order to get the big boss. you don't just have the mcs fight the big boss immediately. there gotta be obstacles first, and that's what Krone's purpose is, to serve as an obstacle for them.

So you want Don to just be a pointless background character with no development whatsoever? sorry man not gonna happen. character development is key to this series. This anime adaptation is already cutting out a lot of important stuff. If they adapt it like you wanted, this show would be a complete disaster.

What an episode!!! Holy shit!
Krone's backstory was one of the best parts, you could see her growing into who she is now....but i guess she didn't stand a chance against Isabella, nevertheless, her backstory and the music was one of the best scenes of this anime.

That ending....omg, i hope Norman isn't going to be shipped tomorrow....
Isabella went into "you are going to die and you can't do anything about it mode", i wonder if they all attacked her, maybe they could have used that rope on her and then maybe shut her down somehow... Because i don't think this is the best outcome.

This weeks episode have ended in the worst possible way.

yeah they can try it but i doubt they would succeed. After all, we saw it in Krone's flashback. All the mama candidates were trained like military soldiers. They can fend off a few kids no problem. Well, everything that could possibly go wrong, went worse.

Krone's death was to be expected but the fact that it was a demon who killed her caught me a bit off guard. That said, I think her death was pretty well handled with the flashbacks from her past and the cuts between scenes with the kids having their meal.

And also, those last minutes sure were intense with Isabella showing her true colors and Emma receiving the worst part from it. Not to mention that now, Norman has his shipping date set... I wonder what they'll do now that it seems all hope is lost.

All in all, it was a pretty thrilling episode, probably my favorite one so far.

The opening scene of Krone's excitement opening her letter for a new position to realize her impending doom a moment later. You can see that Krone's five stages of grief start to unfold as she already was having denial that she actually could ever get a farm from Isabella's recommendation. Krone's is collected as Isabella exits and you can see the contrast of Krone's feelings as she drops to the floor first in despair and then in anger she says " That woman she tends to get rid of me!". She goes the the base of her bed looking at the piece of paper realizing that the information she has on the children escaping would be the last bargaining chip up her sleeve to possibly save her. Looking at mysterious pen as she says in a angered voice yet again " I will not let everything go her way!" The next scene is where her true character shines as she gives the children something to help them with her last actions in the house regardless of each other using one another to get what they wanted her last action was for them to truly be free before she quietly walks to the gate. This scene is the first we see of Grandma as Krone doesn't waste time to bring to light the last bargaining chip she has to save her life only to realize that Grandma and Isabella were working together the whole time. Krone's montage of her life for what it takes to be a mother in this world and how hard it was on Krone. All the while we watch as she desperately is trying to stay alive. The demon eventually grab her and stick her with a flower and as the life flows out of her she accepts her death while praying for the children's survival.
