I feel like we are going around in circles because we know next to nothing about Charioce and most of the things we're saying is just speculation on our part.

So, if it turned out that what drives Charioce, his motivations that are supposed to be this big reveal, that we have been waiting this whole season to learn about, if it turned out he was just angry with the gods for their actions in season 1, you would be satisfied with that?

Can't argue with the statement that there's not enough info, sadly, in a 2-cour show!

Depending on how you put it. I don't mean him saying "well, you didn't come, meanies". I was expecting something along his first line: "We don't need your protection anymore, and, guess what, we can also kill you now. Do you like being slaughtered? Neither did we, when demons killed us while we cried prayers." They're a disappointment and a potential danger, so, while he can, he wants them gone, their suffering irrelevant, their deaths fun. (He was grinning when facing Azazel in the first OP, where's that enthusiasm for battle now? sigh)

Frankly, I would prefer him to be more of an energetic tyrant with wrong views. Fans talk about how he became unfluffy after he imprisoned Nina, but she took part in a terrorist attack, and you can't not imprison a terrorist because you want to dance with her. But actually he wasn't fluffy from the beginning - he is a warrior, i.e. a killer, he got rid of three other Charioces, he initiated war, installed slavery, he is an absolute ruler with a heavy personality. He should've been impressive, a treat to behold, so that the viewers would be satisfied by the time he handsomely and tragically dies. But they half-assed him. I am really mad.

Ughh, Nina really annoyed me this episode.
It's like all she cares about is seeing Cheerios...like girl, do you not get what an infiltration is??
You infiltrate! Keep a low profile!

Then she said she still doesn't even know if she even loves him.
I want Nina from the earlier episodes back tbh. Seems like Cheerios brings out the worst in her :/

Favaro saved the episode for me. Hopefully Nina can redeem herself next ep.

After reading the comments, i'm glad I didn't watch the ep.

I will just keep reading comments to see what his actual motives are, but this show is pretty terrible, not going to waste any more time on it.

Half of the anime is Nina and the King date and dance. Seriously, they wasted an whole episode just to show the dance between them and then the King rejected Nina. Other characters only have one episode or less to perform and show their power.

Nina is acting so annoying right now. How can she still risk her friend's lives after knowing the man she has a crush on is killing innocent beings including children? He treats his own people like garbage and he's willing to chop down anyone who gets in his way. He's a freaking douche bag. I seriously hope she doesn't get one of her friends killed just for some lust. Like girl, you don't even love him. You're just a sheltered virgin with no experience in the real world. He's one guy out of millions. If you wanted a bad boy then why don't you date Azazel? He has a terrible attitude and not at all in tune with his emotions, but he's willing to risk his own life to protect people.

He probably won't have her now though. After getting his freaking friends killed. I swear Nina better come to her senses quickly because I have a bad feeling she's going to get one of her friends killed if she keeps acting like a moron.

oh god, their dance was beautifull! T^T Charioce is so lying, I bet he's doing that just to "protect" her and their relantionship. I think their plan wasn't that reliable from the beggining, but of couse, Nina would always screw things up. But I believe all of her failures it's just a building to something big(in a good way)! These creators just can't make her fail at everything! And really hope the shoes that she left there is a sign that they'll meet again, like obviously from the cinderella stoty <3

The romance is really starting to become this show's downfall, along with Nina. I do like Nina as a character, but her personality is not interesting enough for her to be a main protagonist. This becomes painfully obvious during Favaro's scenes, as he always manages to steal the show whenever he makes a appearance. I don't think this anime will ever become unwatchable, but it will never have the special feel that the first season did.

After seeing this episode and playing the OP again I just realized there are only good guys in the opening. Yes, Charoice is a good guy too and with Favaro talking about Nina's love for the king in the last episode, emphasizing it for all the series, it's clear this element can't be thrown away so easily. Therefore it's very possible that even Charioce joins their ranks in the end (although making him work alongside with Azazel can probably take some serious measures to achieve - their common threat at best).

So who is the real villain here you ask? It's someone who isn't in the OP, betrayed and broken angel, one who is the most susceptible to fall - noone else than Gabriel-sama. And it would be probably Charioce who would sacrifice to eliminate this threat in the end.

I understand this is only my wild guess but given how the story is structured it would be interesting to see if I'm right or not.

Anyway, what a marvelous episode this was, I enjoyed all of it and I love how they made is so it was very similiar to Cinderella story. Even the dancing animation was something great to behold and the atmoshpere was simply brilliant.

Right now I certainly hope for happy-ending but it's way too obvious there most likely wouldn't be one. Still, I grow to like this series and can't wait for the next episode.

I can't believe the whole plan bombed because Nina was more concerned of her romance...
She's by far the worst character: Nina never acts on her own. When she does, it's because she wants her not-boyfriend Hitler. Her presence creates this annoying disconnect.

Virgin Soul is suffering from the issue of the mystery box.
When you have a big mystery that drags out for this long, there are 2 problems that can occur:
1) The mystery takes so long the audience stops giving a shit.
2) The mystery does not live up to the hype and buildup after so many episodes. Imagine fasting for a day...and then the meal you get is just some chicken.

If it turns out Charioce's motivation is Lelouch's at the end of R2, I'm gonna be pissed.

And I think this point was quite clear to Favaro, which made encounter really important. Favaro knows now for sure that Charioce is not an intrinsically bad man.

Overall I like how Favaro has matured since season one. You can really see how the events around Bahamut have shaped him.

Ugh, I had high hopes for this show but Nina is just ruining everything. In the beginning she was stronger and less annoying. But is it just me or as time goes on does she become more 'moe' and naive. I understand her being like this in the beginning..yet the show is almost over and she has hardly considered the consequences of her actions..like at all? Maybe Charioce breaking up with her with make her see more clearly and make her a stronger character. But she seriously lacks any maturity for her age, she's 17 for goodness sakes, not 12. They really are playing the naivety to the extreme. Which to this extreme degree is not cute imo..just annoying.

I want to believe that Charioce's harshness toward Nina is for her benefit, but he's been such a BASTARD since the beginning that I find it hard for me to do.

Nice episode!
We got to see a lot of classy elegant classical music!
damn! Favaro with the Orleans Kights outfit also suits him!
Nina's broken-hearted that would cause too much depression that she might have problems transforming! oh noes!
Allesand will be witnessing a lot of information regarding his former lady captain Jeandarc!
Events are happening quite very accordingly! Nina for sure would have big time trouble with that dragon slayer, and for sure Azazel will be involved and save Favaro & Kaisar but for sure everything will be messy and chaos!
5/5.
according to what others said...a "fallen Gabriel" is quite possible...

Also what the point on Joan D'arc ? She's spent half the series chasing round after El only to loose him again the next episode. When she does find him she just frowns and does nothing.

Compared to how she was in the first series they have totally destroyed her character and she has no purpose in this series now.

Such a waste of a bad ass female character. My feeling is the same.

Nina and her poor excuse of a romance subplot is absolutely decimating this season for me... :'( Was expecting the fun adventure that we got in season 1, which i fell in love with, but unfortunately that hope was trampled to bits years ago. I don't see any way to salvage whatever this pile of disappointment is.

More Azazel+Mugaro, and Lucifer screen time is greatly appreciated if we get nothing else.

omg Favaros reaction to Rita's plan xD He doesn't give a shit anymore, does he? Kinda annoying that he had so little screen time so far and we only have like half a regular season left at this point.

They really should have went with a regular season for this story. I was hoping we'd get some kind of sequel to the first season but I think it's safe to say that it definitely isn't. It shares a few characters and the world and that's it. The story is more or less entirely new and while that was obvious from the beginning at that point I was still hoping we'd get something sequel-like as soon as Favaro appears. Turned out it was futile hope.

No, you don't get to dictate whether someone drops a show or not. I rightfully call this badly written bullshit out every week. I wouldn't have to if the writing was seen remotely good. And I'm still watching because I care about the old cast members. Sorry if I hurt your precious feelings.

Hmm. The old members are the same and seen much more developed but with less screen time. We have a new main character now so it's her time to shine. If you hate her than it's your problem, but coming here every week to bash the series is unhealthy for you. The romance is bad yes but the show is still delivering something entertaining or else you wouldn't be watching 23 episodes for nothing.

indeed. it doesn't help that favaro isn't even a supporting character, that goes to azazel. i don't wtf he is anymore. maybe people wouldn't depend on him as much is he wasn't you know the freaking main character of last season.

i hate nina so much i'm getting that old timey feeling when i see stupid girls in anime - i start daydreaming on different ways to torture them for their stupidity. nina hasn't even gotten slapped for her selfish, childish, self centered idiotic personality and it's not because she's annoying it's because she repeatedly keeps putting her "friends" in fatal danger. i don't give a fck about her feeling guilty because she couldn't do blah in a blah situation, it's clear she faces nothing for what she has done. waste of a MC.

Jeanne x Sofiel lets go! On a more serious note, I actually like Sofiel now.

Gabriel on depression mode.

Alessand looks so different. Noble hairstyles suck.

Nina you dumbass. I feel sorry for Alessand for having to put up by her. They're supposed to lay low and she's out here attracting attention. She hasn't matured a bit since her first appearance. The same carefree and oblivious self. It was clear from the start that the reason why she eagerly volunteered to enter the palace was to see Charioce. She got what she wanted and the plan failed as expected. Since Charioce was still hesitant on killing the red dragon, he's probably pushing Nina away for her own good since the Onyx Soldiers seem suspicious of his actions now.

There's a lot of things to like about Virgin Soul but it's just too hard to completely love it when the main character herself is so unlikable. 5 episodes left. So far they've running around in circles getting captured and escaping left and right. I hope they finally give us more of Charioce's side next episode. I'm still not sure why he loves Nina so much.

Well, Nina made quite the blunder this episode. I sort of understand her thought process throughout the whole situation, but focusing not on the mission, rather on how Charioce sees her, was a big mistake. Their dance was done rather well. The 3dcg models felt out of place at times.

Good on Favaro for protecting his apprentice, and it was a pretty decent punch, ngl.
