Anyone else notice Kamiya Hiroshi's voice saying, "LEFT! LEFT!" at the beginning of the flashbacks? Makes me believe even more that Takeda-Sensei is the Little Giant.

Takeda-sensei is not the Little Giant. Sensei is 29 while the Little Giant is 21.

Anyway, Tsukki's backstory is so good. ALL THE FEELS </3
Ahh, the Oya Oya scene. I got so excited that I can't stop smiling.

I loved this, I knew I would.

I'm falling in love with these characters all over again, it was during these 3rd gym scenes in the manga that I came to appreciate these characters even more. Tsukki is rational and so insecurely defensive, and unapologetically mean-spirited. my problematic fav. anime Kuroo is way cooler than manga Kuroo, but I've come to love him in both adaptions. he has good intentions. Bokuto is a loud owl as usual, I can't wait for his real dejected mode to emerge.

can we talk about the OST though? especially the last track at the end of the episode? shit gets better and better.

this was such a good episode! i loved that we got an insight on tsukki's past and his feelings. i could actually relate to him when he said that there's no point in trying because there's always someone better... i often think that to myself too. it was good to see why he behaves the way he does. i hope he'll get his moment that makes him fall in love with volleyball soon. :>

That simply killed me! Freakin' hilarious!
Their all great; Kuroo, Bokuto & Akaashi! Great episode! Didn't expect less, actually....

But that Bokuto facial expression that led to Tsukishima's evolution... Can't wait for next week~

Fixed 😁

The samurai metaphor kinda shocked me too. I found it inappropriate....
Anyway, it was a great episode overall. I really enjoyed the Tsukishima VS Hinata thing at the end ^_^
I can kinda relate to Tsukki. Sometimes even when you try something as hard as you can, you just can't beat those who are naturally talented....

Loved the character development for Tsukishima in this episode. I'm really liking his character a lot more now. His past was pretty sad; his brother lied to him about being a main player and essentially the ace and that must've crushed his heart. Yamaguchi finally let it all out that really put some sense into Tsukishima's head. Tsukishima went back to the Nekoma and Fukurodani captains to learn some techniques. I'm really glad Tsukishima is finally showing some improvement and that last scene was awesome even if he didn't actually block it but made the Fukurodani wing spiker 'escape'. xD I really like whole Hinata is the sun and Tsukishima's the moon; sun vs the moon, let's go!

I kinda wanted to see how Tsukishiima's brother reacted back at their home when he found out about him lying about his position.

Tsukishima is my other favorite character next to Hinata so it's great to see an episode focused on him.

Finally we see why Tsukki is not very interested in Volleyball.

Sun vs Moon.

So finally Tsukki development begins. Kuroo as funny as ever.

"Lame" is the word I would describe Tsukki aka TsunTsuns backstory.
If his brother commited suicide it wouldve much more impact but I guess Im thinking too negative.
Nethertheless, I like the direction of Tsukkis development and I think he fits the best as Hinatas rival.
Also nice to see why tsukkis little bitch is so clingy to him and he probably got sweet dreams when he called him cool :)

I really like volleyball yet Bokuto really motivated me with his ''tryhard'' words :P

The joy you feel beating the guy in front of you,
and when your able to pull out 120% of your potential, IS EVERYTHING!!
Once that moment arrives for you.
That's the moment you'll be hooked on volleyball!

THIS. SO. MUCH.
I really hoped they won't ruin this scene, but they did it so well! Tfw Akaashi's "oya?" is completely neutral and then these two smug smartasses butt in XD It was perfect! Love them to death-)
And this episode finally made me change my mind about Bokuto's VA. Up till now his voice wasn't quite what I thought it would be, but now I think I'm in love-)
Still it's a pity I.G decided to scratch Bokuto's trademark half-closed-owlish-eyelid-thing. It was so cool in manga.

That flashback was sad :/

The ending to this episode was amazing. The OST this season is soo good. That jazzy piano track was great last week, and I love the track they used for the last scene this week.

I never really cared for Tsukishima, but it looks like he's gonna be a really interesting member of the team from now on 😁

That was an exciting ep, srsly. I really like back-stories of characters, especially was glad to see it about Tsuki, because in the previous ep there had been a lot of talks about his strange behavior and smth about older brother. And here they are-all the answers! Well, not all, maybe (">w>) Situation with brother seems very itroublous, there must be quite serious reason for him acting like that.
Anyways, I always appreciate when in some eps story follows not really main's characters life or so, that's interesting to see the whole picture of anime %)

Also some moments were cool! For example the screenshot below or some amusing dialogues like between Kuroo and Bokuto, as always xD

Or this creepy Bokuto, love it!

Looking forward to next episode!:3

It's amazing Karasuno hasn't fallen apart even more with how they are more competitive amongst each other rather than against other schools. If there was this many competition and rivalries on my volleyball team they'd probably get kicked out for poor sportsmanship.

As for Tsukki's flashback, I feel sorry for Akiteru. He just wanted to be cool for his little brother since he looked up to him so much. After his little brother saw him in the stands he got rejected by him completely and it completely killed the expressive and optimistic side of Tsukki forever. It goes to show how much Tsukki loved his brother that it effected him so deeply. Akiteru was not only not a Karasuno regular but also rejected by his little brother, poor guy. He should not have lied but I understand he just didn't want to disappoint his brother after he was so excited.

Bokuto and Kuroo are really the highlights of this entire training camp for me. Every time they appear it's a great moment. Not to mention they are great mentors despite seeming immature.

I always like seeing the family life of these characters. It's too bad we don't see more of it aside from the very brief glimpses of Tanaka, Tsukki, Hinata, and Yachi's families. I wish we could see other characters as well.

Good episode although there is no game, perhaps because now we will also see in action Tsukki. A little weak on the reasons given by opponents to unlock Tsukki from his resignation, not that we are not good, but they lack some originality. Yama finally progresses, he is growing up, I'm happy! Drawings and excellent animations, characters always good, look forward to the next episode.

Ouch! That hit like a truck! No wonder Tsukki acts that way!

I really agree with that whole motivation thing: getting into the sport is one thing, but having that moment is the difference between getting better and staying on that level forever!

I really appreciated getting to see the backstory for Tsukishima. Now I can understand the attitude he's had up to this point. But after what we saw in this episode, maybe, just maybe, he might start to change a little bit. Future episodes will show whether this ends up happening or not.

Also, it was good to see Yamaguchi being more of an important character in this episode, since he's been such a background character for so long. I especially liked seeing his confrontation with Tsukishima, because I would never have expected to see that kind of reaction out of him.

Tsukishima and Yamaguchi as kids were so huggable ;-; still felt kinda sad about what happened with Tsukki's older brother.
I'm so glad Yamaguchi went and yelled at him. And I agree with Tsukishima, he was so cool.

LOL at this though, srsly these guys...

Sometimes I feel like Shouyou's life essentially boils down to an endless string of enemies to beat lol
Good thing tho that the ones in his team finally woke the fuck up. The further fleshing out and development of Tsukki and Yamaguchi's respective characters as well as their relationship was, as usual, executed very nicely. Now that their smartest and tallest player is finally getting serious about the game, I fully expect Karasuno to progress tremendously over the course of the next episodes.

But srsly tho, Bokuto and Kuroo are the real stars of the show atm. Their antics remind me of the Noya/Tanaka killer duo from season 1. That little raven-haired dude in Bokuto's team also makes for the perfect tsukkomi.
