| i fucking love this show so much .. i watch it one a year .. making my yearly rounds rn China , smug as ever Peco , in his "youthful bliss" phase Smile holding back and throwing for his conceited friend but everybody around sees through Smile , even though he lacks the confidence and awareness to see it himself .. usually watch in dub .. trying the sub this time round .. and this sub is going in with the rebuttals lol the fated rivalry between the 3 mains begins ep 1 ... |

| It’s so hilarious how badly some of these old comments have aged, this show is amazing. Gotta say though, episode 1 is my favorite, probably the greatest episode 1 of any anime made. So sad I’m at my last episode. |
| Good episode. Very unique animation, that's all I could say. Otherwise, the story and the way it flows is pretty normal and expected of how sports stories start. |

| Well, it's a new year and decided to start 2023 with this one because of how much this one is praised. The first half feels very contrived with it's approach, an immediate downgrade coming out of Tatami Galaxy. But that 2nd half, especially when Kong and Peco's match starts, it's like everything changed, brimming with inventive shots and a blood pumping Ushio score, what an incredible way to end the episode. Now, I don't know if this was because the schedule was extremely chaotic, or Yuasa just wanted to differentiate the types of play between all the amateurs vs someone who is already a professional. and... seems like Yuasa boarded EVERY SINGLE EPISODE. Eating good. |

| I won't sit here and act like I know or've played it before, save for the times when we were forced to play back in school. But even still, sports animes are always a guilty pleasure of mine, and this one seems no different. Animation and direction are phenomenal just in this first episode alone. Idk what the end goal, or what this'll be about, aside from playing tennis, but I'm excited. |
