| Huh. I liked the old OP, but that's okay. Lol, I do appreciate the reaction meme potential of Sein yelling "JUST DATE ALREADY" but no no, don't push it. I'm not that into these two as a pair. They're like two years old. I wouldn't want Frieren to be a third wheel. I'd really hate that unless they're not annoying about it. |
| New OP is pretty generic and boring in comparison to the first one. This episode is another feel-good wholesome part with Sein flashbacks and immature Fern x Stark dynamics; and thus Sein says goodbye, essentially solidifying his spot as a modern Heiter clone with exactly the same comedy gags and, in some years, probably the exact same personality, seeing how the relationship between him and the party is going. I have been seeing a trend as to how it is so convenient that complete strangers treat the party in such a good manner, offering even their house and scarce resources to help Fern in this case; or maybe I'm not used to everyone being such a good samaritan. "Don't treat me like a kid." Fern you were quite literally throwing a tantrum on the first-half of this episode for idiotic reasons and you're talking to the +1000 years old femcel, what do you expect lol |
| Not a spectacular goodbye, but Sein quick addition to the Frieren party quite impactful especially since he's a good adult with an exceptional talent as a priest. His quiet last line of monologue also kinda cold, but eh? Long story short, see you again in the next meeting, Sein! Alright. Second part where another sickening Fern comes to attack again. Not enough with pouting Fern, i see. Even if Fern self-proclaimed as an adult, she still needs an emotional support. Frieren also reminiscing the moment when she's sick and Himmel was the one that gives an emotional support by holding her hand tightly. Just like Sein said way before, just date already! ... Or so that was what i wanna write. ... However, Auberst, the city of magic, here they come! ... Also, little writing about oped for this second cour. Yoasobi opening still powerful imhon, sorry Yorushika. And the way they used the second part of Millet, Anytime, Anywhere, ending theme song actually quite surprising me there. I'd say its lacking the creativity, but overall i still like Millet song, so, its not that bad actually. Trying to catch up asap, so let's get going then.... |

| The new OP is definitely more upbeat and based on the lyrics, it's also somewhat more cheerful compared to the previous OP. I like this OP and the visuals are gorgeous too, but it cannot hold a candle to the 1st OP, especially with Yoasobi's singing. The new ED seems to just be the continuation of the first ED, but this time with new visuals. I was surprised to see an element of stop motion there, it is lovely. Fern getting upset with Stark was not because he touched her face, but because she felt restrained by Stark's strong hand on her shoulder, phew... Sein is absolutely right! "JUST START DATING ALREADY!!!" Man, Sein is indispensable, both because of his expertise as a priest and also because of his ability to act as the mediator and the giver of advice. The cold wave is a blessing in disguise because, with that, he's able to spend an extra month with Frieren's party and realize just how much fun he had after he agrees to take Frieren's invitation to go on an adventure. It has been several months since they travelled together and it honestly feels far too short, hopefully, we'll see him again someday. The second half of he ep is really wholesome, it truly depicts the importance of emotional support when one is vulnerable in times of need. It doesn't matter if you're a kid or an adult, everyone needs compassion and support. |

| Hasn’t been long and I’ve already found myself at the beginning of the Winter 2024 season that ended just recently, it was a great season and I’m sure this stretch of Frieren won’t be an exception. And of course along with a new cour/season comes a new OP and ED, the OP by Yorushika is another very good one and it has a completely different vibe than the first OP, it is definitely more fitting tho imo, and it is nice hearing from this artist again since their OP for Season 1 of “Dangers in My Heart” which is also a banger. That being said, that YAOSOBI song did really grow on me, I will miss it lol, and the ED is still the same song but a different verse and new visuals, and ngl I think I prefer it over the first ED, mainly for the new visuals but I do really like this verse of the song as well, it reminds me of when Darling in the Franxx did the same thing with its OPs, I think even Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure has done it as well during season 1 with the Roundabout EDs. And just so this post isn’t just about music, I’ll talk about the episode a little bit lol. It is a shame to see Sein leave, Frieren really convinced him to join them only for them to part ways after a while, but I get it, he has his reason for journeying and it did not align with Frieren’s party, I just hope he doesn’t find a grave at the end of the road, but hey at least he’ll know what happened to his friend. And the 2nd half focused on helping a sick Fern was nice, that tree was beautiful and I really liked the discussion regarding being supported when you’re sick, as well as how Frieren sees Fern almost like her own kid. And with that there’s just 11 more episodes, let’s see what everyone experienced over the winter months. |

| Just finished re-watching the first 16 episodes, and now everything from this episode onward is uncharted territory for me. EXCEPT for stuff that's already been all over the internet, such as Ubel of course, and some scenes from the Height of Magic episode, for obvious reasons. Goodbye (just for now, hopefully) to Sein, who dropped some real sh*t before heading out: "JUST START DATING ALREADY!!!" We chill at the cabin for a bit before parting ways with Sein, then continue on the journey but then Fern gets sick, to which we get some hand-holding scenes, but these ones might make you cry. Now we're on the way to the magic city of Auberest, spelled that wrong probably but idc, where I'm assuming we'll spend the majority if not the entirety of the remaining 13 episodes. Or maybe I'm tripping, I'm just thinking this way because all the scenes I've seen were from the first class mage exam arc. But yeah I'm still dead certain that this season will end as they are departing Auberst. Also yes we have the new OP, which I like. The first one has beautiful lyrics and all, but let's be real: the music didn't QUITE fit the overall tone and vibe of the show, which I'm sure most will agree. This new one fits better. But the important thing is the ED, which I thought I was going to be sad that we weren't going to hear it anymore, but then became presently surprised that they have kept it. And better yet, to keep things feeling fresh, have given it a new rendition with new visuals. I applaud them greatly for going in this direction; because for me personally the ED is responsible almost all the time for holding the mood that you remember a show for. And I love "anytime, anywhere", so I'm glad they kept it. So excited to finally finish Sousou no Freiren, been holding off all this time because I wanted to find the right time to binge watch it all at once. It's currently just past the middle of the night, and will probably binge watch the rest straight into the early morning. |

| I guess it was bound to happen, though i didnt like Sein at the start i grew to honestly love his character over only a few episode and im honestly very sad to see him go but i guess he wants to travel with his friend and i would love to see them two in action. Fern getting six was unexpected and Frieren wanting 12 more hours of sleep was cute. Fern getting flustered when Frieren was holding her hand to comfort her was quite cute and i would love to see more of that side of her. Stark and Frieren traveling to get the stuff to cure Fern was enjoyabel and seeing the scenic views in this anime is always nice and that tree was fantastic. Fern helping around at that little old house by milking the cows was kind of him, Stark helping out is a trait i love about him and seeing him grow is always nice. |

| Didn't expect Sein to actually part ways with them, I thought he was an inherent part of the group already. But I guess the other three are fun enough to watch on their own. Frieren's faces were great again in this episode. |

| As expected, Sein parted ways with Frieren, Stark and Fern, but before that they spent some time together, since the blizzard didn't let them proceed any further. The moment when Frieren says only a harsh blizzard could stop their journey, and then it cuts to her face in the middle of a blizzard, was just way too funny xD Also, before leaving, Sein had to do some adult responsibilities for the party, like amending to Stark and Fern's conflict xD. Those 2 are always bickering xD But I found it interesting how Fern was afraid of how Stark hold her, I wonder if there's some backstory to it, and hopefully Stark will measure his force with Fern from now on. After that, Sein was literally all of us I imagine "JUST DATE ALREADY". In the 2nd part we can see how important Fern is for Frieren, and how, in a way, Frieren sees Fern as her own child, it's was really beautiful honestly to highlight the relationship between these 2, since I feel like the Magic Exam arc coming up will be more about these 2 than Stark. It was also cute how Fern was embarassed to be treated like that by Frieren, because Stark was there. The goodbye to Sein was quite sad honestly, and you can see he had grown attached to them, but the 2nd half of the episode was quite heat warming! Another magnificent episode from Sousou no Frieren. Also, we got a new opening! Honestly, not sure if I like this song better than the 1st one, because the 1st opening was REALLY good, but I do feel like this song will fit a lot the story to come. Also, apparentaly we didn't get a new ending, we got a new animation, but the song is still the same, I think they just used a different portion of the song, because I remember hearing those parts from the full song. But the animation of the ending is really beautiful, and showcases Frieren and Fern's relationship a lot, which is fitting for the episode, and I suppose for what's to come! Maybe they didn't change the song of the ending, because the song really fits the anime well! |
| So this episode starts exactly the same way as 14 out of the last 16- by the characters standing around and talking. Then the opening- oh they've changed the music to another song that is totally out of place for a fantasy. It turns out there's a blizzard, so they can't leave ON FOOT from their cabin... and that means- more standing around. And talking. Frieren muses about how there's a "magic shop" in the village where she can shop for cures for mold... This show manages to make things that usually are fun like the Medieval Tavern into something boring. Mostly it's because we have two characters we know EVEN LESS than the main ones talking to each other. Sein and this old man guy dude. Ugh. This is worse than night school. At one point, while they are standing around looking at a tree, Stark asks Frieren why she was holding Fern's hand so much when she was sick. This being the second time he's talked about it. NO, men do not stand around asking about hand holding and talking about FEELINGS. But standing around talking about feelings is pretty much the plot of this episode. |

Gonna miss Sein a lot. His personality made the journey even better and you can really feel how close he’s got to everyone in this short time. hopefully he finds his friend soon
Ah yes, the classic sick episode. All that travelling in the cold mountains definitely takes its toll on you. Fern’s entering that stage where she doesn’t want mommy to hold her hand when she’s sick anymore. Can’t be getting babied in front of your crush 😂
I love the flashback to Himmel doing that for Frieren when she was sick back in the day. Another way she can keep his memory alive and feel like she’s close to him still. Plus, like he said, it’s not just kids who like being taken care of when they’re sick. We all could use a little emotional support.
Luckily, Sein’s herbal medicine book came in handy and Frieren and Stark were able to find everything for a medicine for Fern.
Kind of a chill episode to start the second half of the show, looks like things will really get going next week. Excited

Also, damn i thought Sein would stay with them the entire journey. I feel like he had the role of the "stable" adult in the group. |
