this first episode left a really good impression on me: animation, direction and sound were all very good imho! the only thing that bothered me a little is the main girl's characterization because she seems almost too good to exist in a world where public executions are a thing... maybe it'll make more sense over time, though. also, i've noticed most people disliked it, but i really appreciated the strategic censoring since i'm not a big fan of splatter. overall very hyped and hope it's worth it.

Trite, cliched, childish. Great if you want really nice art and animation with zero substance or heart. Feels like a western comic book, not an anime. I haven't disliked a first episode as much as this in a long time.

EDIT: I want to emphasize that I would usually not be so scathing, but this is a waste of a really interesting setting. The first 2-3 mins were intriguing. I thought we were getting another stylish but mature sci fi. Like a modern Ergo Proxy. Boy was I wrong.

Excellent. Won't have to read any more from you then in these threads.

Lol. I thought it was boring bro. There's nothing fresh here. No depth. Nothing bold. It's literally just the most basic loud noises and explosions and cheesy music with admittedly extremely nice art and animation, but that only makes it more a waste. Like all the money spent on marvel movies. Sad tbh.

Judging it based on one episode probably really isn't a good idea as well. Considering it's written by Kodaka himself, very likely there’s more here than meets the eye. If you've played the danganronpa games, they always start off very cliche while dropping in foreshadowing before shit gets crazy and probably dark.

This has Komatsuzaki and Kodaka written all over it! With no expectations on this whatsoever I really loved the first episode. Interesting setting, Great looking characters and what seems to be a start of an interesting plot.
Huge danganronpa fan so I cannot wait to see what they will come up with next :-)

I think it's perfectly fair to judge a show based on the first episode, given how big a deal making a good first impression is for attracting viewers. If a show fails to get you interested in the first episode, there really is no guarantee that it will do so later either.

idk why it took someone so long to make a discussion forum for episode 1, its been out for like 4 hours now. anyways, it seems like an interesting anime with an interesting plot. animation looks amazing, and from the first couple of fight scenes it looks good hope we can see more latr and often. one thing that irritated me was when the girl got arrested b/c she didnt want to use the 500 yen she picked up from that guy, and he didnt even want it back, and then she tells the robot that she is trying to return it to him??????? even the robot thought she was dumb. and then she chases after a cat that ran away from her the first time she saved it and almost got hit by the car. its not even your cat and your gonna risk your life trying to save it????? and look where she is now, in the middle of all that chaos just b/c she didnt want to use the 500 yen she picked up for that guy who didnt even want it back and chasing after that cat. this girl is already gonna irritate me if this is how she thinks and acts. so stupid

Badass visuals, badass characters, badass soundtrack. This show screams badass and over-the-top with its setting, plot and colors. Did I mention the colors?

Anyway, there's Danganronpa vibes all over the place thanks to the art style. Out of all anime this season this one feels the most fresh and daring. Some people might get annoyed by the constant change between 2D and 3D, but I think both work just fine in tandem. This and Majo no Tabitabi are definitely my favorites so far.

Yooooo I wasn't expecting much but I really enjoyed watching this one! I didn't think Studio Perriot could produce an anime this good? I'm not disliking any of the characters so far, I LOVE the whole cyberpunk concept, the visuals are REALLY. GOOD., the soundtrack sounds nice, great choice of voice actors,,,

honestly I can tell there are a few 'flaws' here and there but this show is too fun to watch to even mind those!! might become my favorite of the season along with jujutsu kaisen :D

Wow, that was quite intense ! I love the cyberpunk atmosphere, the music is very good, and the characters are quite nice for now, though totally stereotypical but they're super fun so I'm good, and maybe they'll receive some development, I hope so. I'm also glad they gave the heroine an actual personality, it's far from being the best or most original one ever but at least she isn't bland.
I wonder what is this cat's deal, why does it want to create its own suicide squad ? (Speaking of which, is it me or is there the Joker with a Jojo hairstyle ?)

Exactly my thoughts. It's visually stunning and i like the overall Cyberpunk/Sci-Fi setting, but the story and characters are just flat. Childish action instead of telling a mature story.

From the creator of Danganronpa and loosely inspired by classic Western-made films with a cinch of Quentin Tarantino that's set in the early days of Kansai, Osaka, I'd say that this premiere, more than just being cyberpunk-ish, was a great one, a definite surprise given at how much this can go unnoticed as a potential dark horse for the stacked Fall season.

The one thing I love firsthand about this show is the unique use of pseudonyms for codenames, because that's what they are as their individual professions, more than plain Akudama criminals. But man, THIS IS STYLE TO THE FLEX!

Now I know that's where Studio Pierrot kept its best budgets at, anything away from Black Clover, that's for sure. The cinematography is plain excellent for character introductions, world-building and such.

Kazutaka Kodaka's style of the sci-fi Kansai's Suicide Squad, is the definitive way I can sum this episode.

I really liked the visuals here, the little intros reminded me of Persona. Only gripe so far is that the characters are a little bland. I like the girl that looks to be the main character, but everyone else is following a template like there’s hacker boy, big strong hothead, hot nurse, and slick cool guy on bike. So generic

At least the cool guy is humble.

I like the feel, music and looks of this Japanese cyberpunk anime.

Music 7/10
Art 9/10
Rest lets see how this series goes.

Kazutaka Kodaka creator of Danganronpa will surely add/bring blood and death in this anime.

Kazutaka Kodaka is credited with the original story draft. Tomohisa Taguchi is directing the anime at Pierrot, and Yoshifumi Sasahara is the assistant director. Norimitsu Kaihō is overseeing the series scripts. Cindy H. Yamauchi is adapting Rui Komatsuzaki's original character designs for animation. Aida Shigekazu is composing the music. So I am looking to far into this I am sure. But, so far this episodes (and future episodes) have been called by a western criminal or action movie name. The first episode is called Se7en which is about a serial killer who uses the motif of the 7 deadly sins to kill his victims. Well, in the recent episodes, each episode draws similarities from the movie which they share the same name.
Well, there is a cast of 7 protagonists. I am curious if they each represent a sin.
The only issue is that some I made connections to some characters and sins that don't really fit but maybe they develop into that sin later on.
