| This will infuriate Prof Edward. I think Will will gain the ability to wield magic midway. The how is unknown, but I predict it will be at a high level just like his use of the sword. For now, let's enjoy him being the underdog. |

| Starting the episode with Sion, honestly, I don't like him, don't get your frustrations out on the easy target that literally saved your life. Btw, did the other guy die? Only 1 appeared in this scene, and he had 2 "friends". Anyways, it seems professor Edwards wants to test Will's skills, and it seems like Will surprised him, because even if professor Edwards is literally a teacher, Will was able to almost slice him, which probably explained to professor Edwards why the headmaster decided to let Will stay at the academy, at the end of the day, he is a really useful asset for the school, eventhough he is not a wizard. Will should thank his little cat fellow for that, it saved his dream (and also his friend!) We also get to know how students can join Magia Vander, and they actually have 2 ways to get there: either create a new type of magic, or to have really high credits at the school. Since the former is much harder to achieve, most people tend to get there by the credits at school. But I wonder if this will be important in the future, in the way Will might create a new type of magic with his sword? At the end of the episode we got a snippet of Will's mentioned roomate, that seems to care much about him, even doing his dinner for him. I wonder if something will happen to his roomate. We got to see the opening, and I must say, it's actually really good!It does justice for a shounen opening! But what surprised me the most was actually the ending! I haven't heard a song from True ever since her opening for Violet Evergarden, which is one of my favorite openings ever, and I must say she didn't disappoint with this ending. It's not a "Sincerely", sure, but for an ending, it's really good, and it's much more upbeat than what I expected, and honestly, I really like it! From animation, to opening and ending, to characters and plot, this anime has been a big surprise, and I'm really glad I noticed this anime when I was scrolling the MAL list. Now I really wanted to watch the 3rd episode, but we'll have to wait for next week! It has been quite sometime since I have watched an anime while it was airing, but I find it more interesting to watch the anime this way actually! |

| Had me smiling the whole fight. Can't even say teach isn't there for the wrong reasons. He's right. And his prowess was animated perfectly. His demonic aura expressed through his intent to kill, to instruct. This otherwise waste of a excellent young man's life. In pursuit of his own death. Right up until the finishing blow. Showing that Will is probably not going to scale the tower. Or get his credits to the top. Instead he's making his own kind of magic. The type that clearly can best even someone who is equal to most other production's finale. Extremely pleased to see how this is going thus far. The production quality is carrying it. And that's no issue with me. As they are making it clear they can tell the story through art and artistry alone. |

| The first episode was a surprising but welcome 8/10 for me. Proper introduction to characters and their motivations and good animation. The second episode immediately ruined it by turning to overused cliches and absurd drama levels that aren't fitting the young setting. I can already tell that this show isn't going to be very good. What a shame. |
| Discount Snape can be harsh but the man has a point. If not for (for now) just-because OP MC, Snape would've won. Good thing he didn't double down on beating Will, didn't forget he's a teacher and didn't throw tantrums (but stomping Will's head wasn't necessary lol). He stayed true to his wor and admitted defeat. Rarity for a character loke him. Admirable. |

| Goddamn this anime is gorgeous, and gorgeously animated. Only occasionally are loops even used, and every frame is unique and intentional. Only gripe with the visuals is i wish they'd supersample or otherwise antialias their 3d renders ffs. I hate seeing pixel aliasing in my otherwise soft and smooth imagery, anime studios keep doing this. Also did i miss something? Didn't Sion's underlings like die to the big ogre dude? I don't find this particularly generic, it follows familiar tropes, but so does... basically everything. |

I find it extremely stupid that this asshole of a teacher decide to "test" Will without telling him about it beforehand... so Will wasn't prepared at all, he doesn't even have his sword with him... Pussy ass teacher, if you want a fight, why fight dirty? how about you don't use a weapon too? LUL... (I am very offended by this cause this shit actually happen in Real Life) (minus the weapon part) Will got lucky the cat went to get his sword. Cat MVP. . BTW, I still wonder what exactly do they do in that "Tower"... Cause from the looks of it... they're doing nothing but just lazying around like the rich and looking down at the poor people. Especially since apparently once you go to the Tower... you don't go back down to the "poor people land", you stay above like "gods" . |

| Penguin Research's OP and True's ED is rather typical, and nothing special at all. Rigarden Magic Academy has never seen the likes of Will who can wleld swords like wands, and despite everyone's perception against him, Will has only himself to back on if anything goes wrong, as told by Headmaster Caludron. Still, Professor Workner puts everyone on arrears trying to train everyone to be future Magia Vanders, though the rumours of Will having defeated the Evil Sentinel instead of Sion, it's putting those close to him in disbelief, especially Edward Serfence, the Dark Vipermage, to test him if he deserves to stay or be expelled from school for his 6th and final year. The headmaster filling Workner if Will has what it takes to become a Magia Vander, being tested by one who almost ascended the Tower the same way as prior Magia Vanders. If to put in Harry Potter terms, Edward would easily match Severus Snape in terms of his Dark magic, even if Will has his familiar Kiki to fall on to reach the level of a Magia Vander to reach Elfaria. And thanks to Colette interfering the battle to get Will's sword, he's the living legend of someone who's parried single against a rebellion, winning over Edward. To do this for love, Will's got s strong spirit. |

| Thought he was just salty for no reason in the first episode, but I get Edward's point now. He's a cool character, and I can see him becoming one of the more interesting ones hopefully as the story goes on. Nothing too special still has happened yet, just some of your dime-a-dozen plot points, but there's definitely some good set up. Gotta wonder what the headmaster old woman is scheming; she is up to something regarding Will and his sword. Speaking of his sword, I want to know more about that too. Is Will pretty much nothing without his sword, other than having highly above-average athleticism? I guess that's fair since all the mages probably require a wand in the same manner. But does that mean anyone can wield that sword, or does it have a special bond somehow to Will? Because if it's the case of the former, then yeah, what can Will do really? But I'm sure there's plenty to be discovered, and by no means has the full story been told yet of course. Am looking forward to finding out more, which is a good sign for this show as it is just compelling enough for me and you to keep on following. Lots of plot convenience though. A lot rode on Colette being able to bring Will his sword. But it's okay that's just a nitpick. Barely. |
