Well, as Spirited Away and Tokyo Godfathers are 21st century, it seems impossible to me to rate A Silent Voice as best. But even without these ones, there are many films I like more since, although I watched it without displeasure, there are aspects of the film that I dislike.
For instance, A letter to Momo was much better to me with a good balance of laughs, emotions and likable characters.

I'm a soon to be film student and recently have been doing a lot of looking into animated films. I've watched over 20 anime films and counting in the past month and a half and after watching them all, I have not seen a single one come close to being a better film than A Silent Voice. From an animated film standpoint, the tactics that are used play into the story so incredibly well that it keeps any viewer locked in. I spoke about this in another post but the
is one of the most interesting pieces that help with the story astronomically. They not only help with the understanding of Shoya's situation to the viewer, but also play into the story. That, in turn, makes the final scene of the film incredibly redeeming. There are so many other little things that they use that also do things like that, but I want to know what you think. The other one people talk about is Your Name and although I agree that Your Name is a fantastic film, I don't think it beats A Silent Voice in its storytelling or as a movie overall. Animation quality sure I'll give that to CoMix Wave but I think that A Silent Voice made the better movie overall.

hell nah it's not that good tho

It was really really good but the best? umm not for me at least. In terms of tearjerker category, Maquia and Josee the Tiger and the Fish were better imo. Though A Silent Voice’s impact was greater on the majority of people so I wouldn’t say it doesn’t deserve the title.

I’ve watched the movie and read all the manga, but if you read the manga first you get very disappointed. Doesn’t mean it’s bad just not nearly as good as the manga. I still have it a 8/10 but truthfully it’s only a 7/10.

Koe no Katachi was great but there are many anime movies out there that is better like Sayonara no Asa ni Yakusoku no Hana wo Kazarou, Kimi no Suizou wo Tabetai or Redline.

It is the best anime movie I have seen so far, but I haven't seen Spirited Away and people usually say it is the best Japanese animated film so I won't say anything on this.
If you ever feel bored and are questioning the meaning of your existence, read deez blogs. Maybe you will find your answers.

I went back to Spirited Away after a long while and found that there was so much stuff they threw in the middle of the plot that it was too much. It made the story harder to follow especially with all of the odd and random things that would happen.

Not suggesting that these are better because I live A Silent Voice, but you should watch any of Makoto Shinkai’s films (not just Your Name), Miyazaki (duh), The Boy and the Beast, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars…

And if you want to look into 20th century anime films, start with Akira and Princess Mononoke.

I watched Maquia, thought it was fantastic, I just thought there were a few little things in the middle that definitely could have been improved. The story dragged a little bit at some points.

No, not by far. Every watch Perfect Blue, Spirited Away, Sword of The Stranger, Tokyo Godfathers, Ninja Scroll, Ghost in The Shell, Metropolis, Redline, etc? A Silent Voice isn't the best movie at all and there are many better ones.

Here's the list of anime films I personally recommend.

Spirited Away, Perfect Blue, Howl's Moving Castle, The Girl Who Lept Through Time, Tokyo Godfathers, Millienum Actress, Only Yesterday, Princess Mononoke, Metropolis, Wolf Children, The Tale of Princess Kaguya, Ninja Scroll, Sword of The Stranger, Ghost In The Shell, The Cat Returns, Whisper of The Heart, From Up on Poppy Hill, Redline, When Marnie Was There, Summer Wars. I'm sure not all of these are 21st century (I forget the years of many of these) but they are ones that I recommend that are mainly 21st centuries. I would probably give Spirited Away the best 21st Century Anime Film award.

Short answer: no. Personally, I think ASV is a fantastic movie. However, there are plenty of movies that I think are just better written than ASV, including but not limited to the Kizumonogotari movies, the Kara no Kyoukai movies, Maquia: when the promised flower blooms, and possibly the Heavens Feel movies (which weren’t great as an adaptation but are still very good).

Best Anime film of the 21st Century? Not in my opinion, and I don't even think it's either KyoAni's or the director's best work - prefer Liz and the Blue Bird.

ASV is a very fine movie, thought it does struggle at times with coherence in the narrative - particularly in relation to the Manga, balancing out so many characters, and leans into the melodrama a bit too much in the finale third.

With just a fifth of the 21st Century gone there are the Hayao Miyazaki films (Spirited Away, Howls Moving Castle, Ponyo, The Wind Rises), Isao Takahata (The Tale of the Princess Kaguya - the best Ghibli of this century IMO, the art is STUNNING!), Satoshi Kon (Millennium Actress, Tokyo Godfathers, Paprika), any of Mamoru Hosoda or Makoto Shinkai's movies plus Maquia and In this corner of the world.

For work that transcends Anime i.e. is watched by people who don't usually watch Anime, or has influence on film-making beyond Anime then that's pretty much Miyazaki (and to some extent Hosoda and Shinkai) for the former and Miyazaki and Kon for the latter.

It's a great movie but personally, it would not be in my Top 10 Anime films. Here are 10 that I would rank above it:

End of Evangelion
Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
Perfect Blue
Madoka Magica: Rebellion
Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul
Violet Evergarden Movie
Kara no Kyoukai Movie 5
Kara no Kyoukai Movie 7
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time
Night is Short, Walk on Girl

Though, all of these, with the exception of the last two, are part of bigger series (ie: Some are sequels to anime series, etc.) so I guess it is not a fair comparison.

Aren’t End of Evangelion & Perfect Blue part of the 20th century? Other than that I agree with your list.

I think a lot of the movies that are being put at the top of lists are those that are tied to another series. As for standalone movies, it changes the list completely

mhmm
well this movie will always have a special place in my heart
i absolutely love shoya's development
but i still think shouko is pretty shallow compared to rest of the cast
I watched the movie first and then read the manga
even though the manga expands way more on every other character in the story (except shouko unfortunately) , i still would give the movie a higher rating because of how kyo ani were able to portray this story in this form.
it's one of my favourite movies of all time , it made me cry like an absolute bitch.

P.S

i don't think this movie is perfect by any means
A lot of side characters' development gets cut out compared to the manga
Shouko is not a well written Character (Both in the manga and the anime)

But the parts i love outweigh the parts that i dislike

Yes, I think it is, brother.
And, not only that,
It's the best animated movie of all time in the World.
And, the best movie of my life.

From storytelling to characters to specially voice acting and music and last but not least animation.
It's Perfect.

One thing I want to address is that,
Yes, "Your Name" was amazing and fantastic.
But, it didn't sway me and changed my perspective like "A Silent Voice" did.

This movie taught me to love myself.

Rearranging the order of events, butchering side characters , removing some developments and inner thoughts from even MCs, making some parts confusing and incoherent. The only thing I could say that was faithful to the Manga is the drama between Shouko and Ishida, which also enhanced by direction, animation and voice acting. Anyway, I read and watched it quite a long time ago so my recollection might be wrong, perhaps you could inform me exactly what part of it is unnecessary shit.
