so this breaks all suspension of disbelief even for an anime/LN/manga.

ok here is what would have to take place for a GENDER switched baby event.

both sets of parents would have to be ignorant of the babies sex through sonogram prior to birth.

both sets of babies would have to be taken out of the room without the parents asking the gender, without the doctors correctly writing down the gender and then the babies would have to be switched in the nursery.

This is especially unlikely since the parents will almost always have names picked out for both genders at this time and will tell the doctor the name they have chosen so it can be documented on the birth certificate.

given that these arent gender neutral names thats another flaw.

everything about this premise is extremely stupid.

that said imma watch anyway.

Could not have said it any better lol and like at no point after leaving the hospital where the parents asking any questions about why their baby is a girl instead a boy or vice versa lol. This whole situation right here might be the reason I drop this show I just can not get past this bruh lol.

A very interesting way to start a harem. Alabama route.

Soooo... This is basically the Nisekoi of 2022 but with an even more absurd plot lol

Oh boy... xD I'll give the anime a chance but I'm not expecting much from it.

Yeah as some have pointed out, I can see it happening if they were both boys or both girls and got mixed up (there are some irl cases of that happening) but how did both parents and doctors not know the gender of the child before or even right after birth?

But I guess we just have to suspend our disbelief cause it's an anime and we're just here for the romcom hijinks.

The recent trend of a manic pixie girl to be the insta-wife for no particular reason while the protagonist overreacts is not one I'm a fan of. Lord knows that this kind of show has been around even in the 'good' age of trashy slaspstick fanservice, in the form of things like Amagami or KimiKiss and such, but even To Heart realized that it was probably better if one of the harem was a robot maid for no particular reason. Or maybe it's that despite the stupid faces, it's really not much of a comedy. Which begs the question of whether it's any kind of drama or romance either. This episode wasn't overly concerned with being any of those, instead choosing to focus on how there's a harem, and here's the first three members.

Speaking of which… She's rich and the stereotype of females on instagram that MRA types rail against. He overreacts and accidentally sexually harasses her, but luckily, there are some stereotypes of males on instagram that MRA types rail against for him to beat up. This is sandwiched between the other two harem members, his stepsister (or whatever you want to call her), and the airhead-yet-savant rival. Then it declares that this is totally a romance. Yeah, I can tell that from all the groping, sexual harassment, constant camera focus burning a hole in the girls' chests, and screaming. Literally the only bona fide this episode had about any kind of character was spawning a bunch of what-the-kids-call simps for the protagonist to beat up and make her swoon over before reminding us that this is indeed unabashedly a harem. Pick a lane.

Ah yeah, definitely its a full of Nisekoi vibe with the arranged marriage setting, but with the twist of the mixed up baby, like what Yamada-kun did with the whole supernatural plot, and some different rival of love coming from the literal rival for mc. Since i actually ironically liking those two franchise, and love how stacked up the list of the va, Nao, Akari, then also don't forget about 'your sister actually not your sister' plot. I may just turn my brain off and just enjoy how silly this harem show is until the backbone. Because i really need some of these kind to freshen up my barren lives. So, yeah, enough my standard initial impression reply and lets just go straight to the next episode!

Well, it feels the same as the manga so far, mid production and kind of silly story but it's entertaining and quite fun, though that's a odd decision to see that it's getting two full cours, I wonder if it will feel repetitive since the manga is kinda like that at this point, but why not, I like it so far I guess

Why'd they have to make the MC look like such a derp and generic. All the females are designed to be other-worldly attractive while the main dude is left behind.

As a straight dude, harems are so much better when the MC is attractive (e.g. Tomoya, Clannad). If anything, having a slightly punchable-looking face as MC is more annoying than not lol

This isn't usually the type of show I give a high rating towards, but it's got good production values and a solid, if not particularly unique set-up. and the protagonist isn't a complete dingus, but a pretty smart guy who can throw a punch.

The switched-at-birth plotline is something you either go along with or go 'this is too implausible' and ragequit, and as I'm the kind of person who generally thinks it's fine to have an unrealistic premise if your show is a comedy, I just rolled with it.

since this episode is all set-up, it kind of demands three episodes. if it bogs down in cliche, I'll drop it. but if it continues to be self-aware and/or gets spicy, I may keep watching.

also, the OP and ED are great, damn.

The first episode is a great one. As expected, something have changed unlike in the manga but still it's a great one. The animations and as well as the visuals in the OP is great. The OP is colorful and the song is great. About animations, great job animators. I really liked the story in manga but I'm sure I'm going to be liking the story in the anime more than the manga soon. I'm looking forward to the next episode.

Segawa's reveal at the end is hilarious after all that 'build up' with Erika. It kinda sucks how the hardworking MC gets to live poor in the wrong family while Erika becomes a spoiled brat.

Erika isnt a spoiled brat just cuz her family has money, she really puts her all it stuff like cooking and studying even tho she isnt good at it, and she is the best comedy device in this series, her a shit they found out faces are perfection.

I don't know what manga this guy read, but no, Erika is 100% a spoiled brat for the majority of the series. There are only a few VERY limited instances where she attempts to pull her own weight, most of the time she dumps everything onto Nagi.

So we got a fiancée who you were switched at birth with, your crush that serves as your rival that you plan to confess after beating her in the grades and your fiancée's sister who's also your stepsister.

I love how Erika plans to punch Nagi as promised at the end.

Whoever runs the hospital nursery should be fired for that mix-up.

Honestly surprised at how enjoyable this episode was. Nothing mind blowing, with the usual anime cliches and somehow I still enjoyed it. The setting is nice and I’m looking forward to continuing watching this show. It could go either way, if it ends up being bad , it’s not a problem, seeing as I don’t really get disappointed anymore with this type of show. Most harems tend to be too generic and bland, but this one seems to be a bit better than what comes out nowadays.

This is such a great episode that I feel like melting while watching such a cute and enjoyable atmosphere. It isn't that unique and was more like some cliche plot but for anime watchers only, this should be a blast.

P.S. Now I have a 2nd romance series to look forward to like Shikimori-san.
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Dropped Shikimori hard after the first episode, it was just too boring for me. Might go back but idk, been checking the reviews and ratings and they are falling off.

This conversation will be off-topic but for the sake of this conversation, I'd say, I don't really bother much from others' perspectives. If you truly enjoyed a series without the consent of someone other than you, that would be enough. If you didn't, then it's probably not for you or you lack something to enjoy it.

The first episode of A Couple of Cuckoos was pretty entertaining. The beginning makes it appear like it will be a serious drama, but quickly reveals its infectious comedic nature. The animation was simple but crisp, but the entertainment factor mostly comes from the jokes throughout the episode. Erika is a fiery ball of sass but doesn't come off as annoying, and has a hidden mature side to her. Nagi is an intelligent and very serious no-nonsense type of person, so most of the time he is either annoyed or questing something, but it is all for comedic effect and doesn't ruin the vibe. The only aspect of the episode that could've been improved upon is the introduction of Hiro, that was much later and almost came off like she was a side character, despite Nagi having a deep crush on her. The same could almost be said for Sachi, who is the sister of Nagi and the first to be formally introduced. However, she had an intimate moment with him, so the short time she was somewhat satisfying. With all those comments being said, the anime will continue to air with 23 additional episodes, so perhaps it will follow a character arc based form of storytelling versus a more open-ended type featuring the whole cast of girls. Regardless, the show is very entertaining for those who prefer lighter stories that are all about laughs and smiles.

I've always been a sucker for harems, although lately my expectations for them were super low, to the point I skipped quite a few new titles. But this thing looks good. All of main cast is interesting and not overly bound by archetypes, and most importantly protagonist is kinda cool. Decent art and good VA choices obviously help too. On top of that 24 episodes? Unless they pull some major shit in coming episodes, I can see myself enjoying it weekly.

I don't get why are people so bothered with lack of realism in the baby switch. I mean, it's a rom-com and we've seen much bigger BS pushed into those for the sake of unique story, and usually nobody bats an eye. And if I were to be picky, I'd rather argue how did he turn out the way he did when growing up in such environment. I honestly doubt any "genes" can make up for parents/upbringing.

This has all the makings of a disappointing harem anime;
- Incest is 2/3 of routes
- Arbitrary situations that forces "main girl route" and blocks other routes
- Fake harem cause everything in the show makes it 200% predictable
- Main girl is the worst of the 3

Basically incest version of Nisekoi
