I feel you. I hate work so much. But the big part of it is because I just don't enjoy my job, and I never had any idea of what I want to do, so I can't just change jobs and "follow my dreams" cause I don't even have an idea of what I might like to do instead of this. Oh well...
I'm watching less than 10 every season. And usually half of the ones I decide to stick with I end up getting bored of halfway. Part of it is because I already saw so many anime that I can tell how it's gonna go down by glancing at it. You can just tell the quality of it right away.
That was the golden age, before anime became sort of a mainstream. It will never go back to the way it used to be. Now all the shows have certain tropes and expectations to build on. It became too much of a product.
I had vague memories of it from my childhood, so I decided to rewatch it around 7 or so years ago and I cried several times. It will forever hold a special place in my heart. You just feel such connection to the characters and their friendship. It's beautiful :D
I hope it goes well. I remember being a nervous wreck on my first day. You get used to it quickly, let me tell you that. Nowadays I feel almost too familiar with my workplace.
Production is more costly and they're trying to pump out tons and tons of them every season. Way more than they used to. Which makes it feel like looking through trash to find gems sometimes. My favorite anime never got subbed either. I only found some fan sub group that very slowly subbed and gave up halfway. So I'm glad I saw it dubbed on our local TV at least, since it was a big reason I am watching anime today :D
I saw Tiger Mask W back when it aired, and I did like it. There's just something about Toei anime that evokes nostalgia for me, even if it's anime I've never watched before. Something about art design and quality. And most anime they adapt are kid friendly, but still very enjoyable for more mature audiences as well. I know many people don't like them because of the art, but it just gives more charm to it, in my opinion.
Oh let me tell you, you need to watch the new Digimon, especially if you are a fan of the old one. Old series is 10/10 for me and I was debating about the new one as well, but as soon as I saw the first episode I knew that they're gonna make the fans happy. First of all, the series looks the same. It feels the same. They captured everything so perfectly. It just feels like an alternative story, like more focused and streamlined on the actual story, but it's still the essence of the original. Only thing that's missing is the iconic music that the original had.
What about you?
No wonder I never really heard of it. It looked like something I'd love to watch while growing up, so I am glad that it's getting a remake so I can experience it now. I hope they stay as true as possible to original. That's one thing that modern anime fail at sometimes. You rarely see shounens with dozens of episodes like you used to, because they speed the pace up to cram it all in seasons.
This one looks really similar, was it made by the same people? I'll definitely check it out if I end up craving for more Dragon Quest after this :D
I'm happy that you thought of me, and you really have a perfect timing. I just noticed that the first episode came out and was wondering if I should watch it without seeing the original.
I do love old school fantasy shounens, especially when Toei is involved. Just saw the first episode and it really scratches the itch I had for this specific type of shounen. I will continue watching it. Thanks for the recommendation :D
I also recommend for you:
-Ballroom e Youkoso
-Banana Fish
-Blood-C
-D.Gray-man
-Haikyuu
-High Score Girl
-Kuroshitsuji
-Macross Frontier
-Nana
-Yuri on Ice (?)
For something more different, try: Bakemonogatari
Not with reddit :D
Anyway, nice that you gonna continue it.
So you're watching Gintama that's great.
Well let me give you an advice.
Just for the information.
The first Episodes and the following first Episodes can be quite average.
I know that it can be for many people. So maybe for you as well.
But it will improve a lot afterwards.
So I hope you will keep on watching Gintama.
