Well, since this anime is called "the second GochiUsa", then I hope that it will be as cute, chaste and sweet. I do not want to get another Slow Start or Sakura Trick.

Well that was a great first episode. I was going to wait a few weeks to see if the show was worth watching, but then people in the DDLC reddit started posting stuff about this and it's my goal to watch all Manga Kiara Time anime adaptations so I decided to watch it today.

People keep saying the characters remind them of DDLC but these characters look more like characters whose manga were published in Manga Kiara Time Magazines. Kaoruko looks like Tama from Magic of Stella (aka the most adorable anime girl ever and one of the only good things about that show), Tsubasa looks like Miki from School Live! (Same voice actor too), and Ruki looks like Rise from Gochiusa (who is best girl).

This was a very fast paced episode especially the second half. Kaoruko is basically has no confidence or friends. It's also implied that she doesn't go outside much and she gets her ideas from other anime and manga.

Koyume is the genki girl who is probably lesbian. She draws shoujo manga but I think that she will end up drawing Yuri manga because of Tsubasa. She doesn't do much in this episode though.

Ruki is competing with Tsubasa as best girl in this show. The show implies that she draws hentai and Crunchyroll uses "p" before the explanation is cut off but it could just be ecchi manga. She's a girl who likes cute things and rabbits but is actually a pervert.

Tsubasa is a chunibiyou and is voiced by Megumin's voice actor but in a deeper, boyish voice. She seems serious at first but she is the most otaku out of all of them. Liked that one piece reference. Wonder if she'll make more shounen references or even a JoJo reference.

Guess I'll continue to watch this show. I'll go back and skim through this episode since it seemed so fast paced.

Um, did you read this manga or did you make all these conclusions based on the first episode? Because, I saw a couple of chapters of the original manga, they openly stated that Ruki draws hentai and there were no special yuri hints on Koume was not.

I watched the episode ... Well, now I think that Koume is even more than an "probably" lesbian, lol. I do not know how they will work with it, but the implication is more than explicit. In the rest, at the moment I more or less understand which characters the author took from GochiUsa and how she changed them for her work.

Sorry but when comiga first released on japan, a lot reader speculate that this manga can be next succesor of gochiusa due to similiar artstyle between hanzawa kaori and koi, its not the anime but the manga. Nexus put a lot original scene and info dump on episode 1 so i think they try to convey the people to think that this anime is not very 4-komaish.
Ruki not drawing hentai but ecchi manga on teen love magazine, there's time when kaosu&gang helping Ruku finish up her manga before deadline also when ruki ask kaosu how to digital painting because she has to do color page.
Koyume and Tsubasa did have yuri chapter , one day when tsu-chan thought that koyume hate her she really depressed and cant even draw manga properly and after thr event ended, tsu-chan and koyume getting closer and even get on date later chapter

@Gel_chan Date or "date" which is in most cute girls's manga? I ask for clarity, because I'm tired of people from Tumbler, who define as yuri any melodramatic or friendly moment in such manga.

OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH BABY THIS IS THE MOE I NEEDED THIS SEASON. AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH IT'S BEAUTIFUL! IT'S ADORABLE! IT'S COLORFUL! IT ACTUALLY LOOKS REALLY WELL DONE! IT'S SWEET! IT'S PRETTY WILD! IT'S ... it's... not as gay as I thought it would be, actually feels less gay then these anime usually tend to feel for some reason BUT THAT'S FINE! Instant Masterpiece. 10/10. Already watched again.

Okay but seriously though what a fun episode, though a bit crazy, things were going down really fast, and the animation was wild, like they had more time and money to burn than what they needed, so they just went all out. It's actually pretty great. The girls are all a blast in their own way and I enjoyed watching all of them. More than anything this anime is giving me the urge to draw more myself. I look forward to seeing more of this.

Date one that means as relationship bound or couple hanging out, koyume and tsu-chan going to amusement park. This chapter is not out on fan translation but you can find it on the vol.3. anyway, if you read the manga its quite clear that koyume and tsu are in yuri vibes relationship while kaosu is more to personal yuri since she admit that she like anime with all cute girl in cast and peeking their panties on figurine, she even think that thanking for having seen her friend boobs are normal. And the last, miss housemother are ex-yuri mangaka

Wait. Even after that, you say that their relationship is "yuri vibes", and not obviously or canonically romantic, and define as "personal yuri" the silly behavior of the MC. So this is still your personal interpretation, or is it really just a fluffy yuri bait like Kihiro Mosaic?

This is really important for me, because I'm annoyed with the works, which are overloaded with a meaningless yuri fanservice, which do not end with any real romance and are shown as "sweet female friendship". After all, if I wanted to see the show with a bunch of "definitely not gay" girls, I could open Yuru Yuri or Maria-sama Mitteru, lol.

Wait u okay with yuru yuri but u have problem with comiga? Its obviously CGDT with yuri theme by all relationship goes soft same as comic girl and other works on kirara magazine except sakuta trick. And even go far said that maria holic is okay, as for you said on yout standard it is not. The MC herself claimed that she Loves girl and as thr series goes it show kanako really stood to what she stated by going after girl or get exicted just being witg other girl, mariya was part of the comedic value of the show but still not gonna avert my eyes as"not gay" by yout standard of course that kanako is actually lesbian.
I read almost everything kirara times manga published so i well know how the series goes while you even got it wrong said that the anime are gochiusa 2.0 even though its actually the manga

I very much ask you to do less cuts, because I can not understand half of what you write. Not to mention that my words about GochiUsa were left before watching the show and afterwards I even compared it to Konohana because of the characters and work with yuri tropes.

Anyway, I just have to watch the show myself and draw my own conclusions about how yuri is processed in this title, rather than relying on your rather muddled answers. At least after the first episode, it's more like Konohana Kitan without oriental philosophy and with more implicit than openly shoujo ai.

P.S Why are you telling me about Maria Holic? I love this work, but I did not talk about it. Have you ever heard of Maria-sama?

Already give u answer from the reader perspective rather than relying on your conclusion it's your choice tho if you wanted to ignore it. Anyway, yuri on shoujou ai doesnt always rely on "oh they have sex on the ending" like all milk morinaga manga or"kiss every now and again" like sakuta trick or citrus. Yuri can be apply if one of character have romantic feeling to other girl and its official not a fandom release like NicoxMaki from love -live. No, konohana exactly have yuri part and its official since ren have affection toward natsume although its one sided. And if you think one-side love are not love, you just fuckin dumb

I never once told you that one-sided love for another girl is not considered yuri. As did not say that yuri can only be considered a full-fledged official relationship. You continue to talk to yourself and ignore the meaning of what I write to you. I can only say once again that the conversation is over.

Neither did I believe that this anime series had such a positive start, I was amazed. The story seems quite normal, for now, as are the characters that seem somewhat stereotypical in a certain way. Really nice graphics quality and animations, not bad backgrounds. This anime series reminds me of the "Hidamari Sketch" series in the narrative.

The only one full-length yonkoma adaptation this season. It will filled my everyweek dossies of moe

I loved every stuff from kirara, forever. And the character is constantly 4 girls with the trait is always:
-unconfidence MC
-Active and cheerful character (friend of MC)
-"Cool" character (friend of MC)
-"toward women interest with cool" character (friend of MC)

which never boring me

The Kirara of the season. What's not to like.
I said that but I'm not a watcher who loves every Kirara franchise, surprisingly excepting Camp the last one I gave a 6+ score was Zombies, although I did like lots of CGDCTs in between.
Felt mostly good, girls are very pretty. But would like the two newcomers to stop use honorifics, knowing they are of the same age and hearing that makes me rather uncomfortable. Also would like them to minimalize serious scenes, that's what semi-ruined Stella no Mahou

Dang, I was expecting another Slow Start situation, but this was a really enjoyable first episode! Kind of interesting how the girls all draw different types of manga. Tsubasa's art looks really good. Not sure why Ruki is denying her big-boob ecchi/hentai skills, I think that's a respectable trait as well xD

Also Tsubasa and Koyume are gay af. I'm calling it. Don't know about the other two girls yet, but I anticipate some good Yuri moments regardless :d

I can't help but wonder why that makes you uncomfortable? I'm not a native speaker, but I don't think "senpai" is too weird in an anime context considering the other girls are serialized and also appear more mature and professional.

The 'senpai' and the keigo gives the impression that they've formed a hierarchy based on social standing etc., which is not that illogical or anything but I wouldn't really want it on my cute girls show. Can't really explain that well, it feels a bit...unfriendly? You'll understand if you're asian...

Having said that, turns out Koyume used keigo because she really thought the two were senpais in school too(and Kaos uses it to every living being) but she's still using it intermittently in the rest of EP2 and EP3, dunno how it goes after that as I can't get hold of the manga but I would like that to die down

Yep, I noticed that in episode 2 specifically because of your previous comment. I think it's just part of Kaos' character and I expect she'll keep using it. She's kind of a ditz; when they went to the crepe shop in ep 2 (ep 3?) I'm pretty sure I remember her saying "but this place is for high schoolers!"

So I don't know how much can be expected from her in that regard lol.

I suspect she said "this place is for high schoolers!" more because she doesn't really consider herself one in the social sense, the model image of the Japanese JK, and less because she actually forgot that she's a highschooler, which I guess you're implying by calling her a ditz.

Anyway I've stopped hoping her to not use Keigo now despite my earlier post, I'm just hoping Koyume does at this point

Ah, my cute girls doing cute things pick of the season. It took me quite a while to get around to watching it, though. In retrospect, I cannot fathom why I delayed for so long.

After all, the protagonist quartet is charming. The combination of different archetypes is definitely intriguing. I also like Kaoruko's grim personality (or at least find it fairly amusing) and I am looking forward to finding out more about the rest of the dorm's denizens.

come on, none of them were probably drawn to actually like girls.

lol.. Well, maybe that blond girl Koyume could draw faceless boys, if eyes for her is hard.. ;p
Hm.. Surprisingly Kaos and Koyume could actually relate with having problems in relationships as well.. They get along quite well, actually, though I expected Koyume to be different girl, based on her appearance.. Well, will see, what's with her more then.. And overall will look characters the most, maybe..
Em.. Is Ruki drawing hentai?.. And is she drawing bestilaity hentai as well, or something, with fantasies like that?.. ;p I guess, maybe not bestiality, but maybe would be interested.. Maybe just good old hentai or ecchi manga.. ;p
And Tsubasa drawing "emotional" shounen manga?.. Hm.. If anything, I personally always found "shounen" manga to be quite less on the emotional side.. Yeah, action and stuff, but eh.. Well, again, there are all kinds of shounen stories, not all of them are just battle shounens.. And even if she draws them, it's not bad at all.. But yeah.. Kinda like tomboy Tsubasa is..
Oh, Ruki's backstory is very bittersweet..
Ok, so we're getting pretty obvious pairings.. Ruki being stabbed with Kaos' cuteness, and Kaos showing care about her.. And Koyume admiring Tsubasa, and understanding her in return well.. ;P
First episode is pretty nice.. Though, I'm not sure, where anime will be going with girls' personalities, and with story.. I hope it'll be good slice of life show, but hard to judge from one episode, will look for more.. ;p

Kaos may be the most annoying character I've come across in a slice of life show for quite some time (a character whose personality is "overreacts to and crys about literally everything" is always going to be a tough sell, to put it lightly), but there's a lot besides her going on here that I do like, so I'll keep soldiering on and hope Kaos calms down going forward.

Wow this episode was very cute for sure. I am loving where this is going and I wish to see more as such.

The production values here are insane too, damn.

Pretty good first episode, the girls all seem fun so far. Shows like this always make me wanna pick up a more creative job as well, though I can't draw at all haha

I always find myself coming back to Spring 2018, where my weekly seasonal anime viewing began, I have no problem with that tho lol. But me and my pal have arrived at another show and it was my pick this time so I went with this one, and it’s safe to say it’s very cute and pretty damn funny. High school girls drawing different manga in the same house sounded like a fun concept and it’s already proving to be a good time from this first episode.

And the comedy itself kinda reminds me of “The Demon Girl Next Door” with how it’s fast hitting, it’s not quite as fast here but it’s reminiscent of it, funny stuff tho of course. And I already like the girls, tho I hope Kaoruko stops being as wimpy over time, yeah it’s cute and makes for some good bits but if she’s like this the whole show I’m not sure if I’ll be a big fan of her lol. Looking forward to more of this!
