| Wow...I was not expecting this...total annihilation... indeed one of the best episodes. I thought it would be a little more dramatic the destruction of Earth surface though, I mean, when macross arrived, it seemed like it was just a minor loss...the loss of earth...anyway it's very well done this episode 5/5 |

| Wow! Everyone is rather well adjusted despite god knows how many billions of dead people were cremated on that planet. Regardless, this was an outstanding episode. Hikaru has been making progress, but he really manned up in this episode. |

| Fuck, that episode could have been the end of the series! I mean, a little epilogue and call it a day, it would have worked and it's what 90% of anime series would have chosen. I really wonder how they're going to rebuild what they can. Man, I don't even know how I would feel in Hikaru's situation. |

| Macross is mostly full of QUALITY, but when it looks good, it looks outstanding. Kinda feel like DYRL handled this part better. Seeing Hayase as the only survivor on the Earth isn't really believable. It's not like she was hidden that well. Hopefully there are other survivors somewhere. I was hoping that she'll at least leave Earth and crash somewhere together with Hikaru. The battle was great though. Kamujin was hilarious. The song probably didn't even affect him much. It seems like he just wanted some action and used the song as an excuse "This song is good. Let's fight." |

| Perfect episode. Hikaru confesses, Minmay counter-confesses, the breakup kiss, then this humongous battle with great animation. Really enjoyed Milia's red fighter and hearing Silver Moon again. And they even managed to win and Hikaru rushes to save Hayase like the white knight in Skull Leader valkyrie he is. The day is saved. |

| Goddamn this episode was fucking perfect! I am dead serious, this may be a contender for the greatest single non-finale episode in anime. It just had everything, heck the part when the Macross flies through the walls of the enemy base and launches it's full arsenal at once is up there in my all time favourite scenes now (along with the Amuro and Char swordfight in MSG 0079). 11/10 episode |
| This was supposed to be the final episode, but the popularity of the show actually caused them to tack on the next arc as well as to insert a couple of fillers (Hikaru's dream in the hospital) to stretch it out. But yes, this was epic... True they have lost almost all of the population of earth, but they do have the Macross civilians and the Zentraedi fleets to start over again with. Of course, Earth looks like reclamation might be a very long term prospect. An excellent episode, and it would have been a great ending. We'll have to see what the final arc does now, but my big worry is that it will be a little anti-climatic. |

| This episode was everything I love about Macross. Epic in scale, ridiculous in tone, great music, love conquering war; just great. Indeed it would have been a neat finale but I'm actually intrigued by what the last arc can bring to the table. Rarely do action series like this ever deal with the clean-up / recovery of war in much detail, so I like that the writers are using the added episodes to tackle some really difficult issues. I appreciate it more than a perfect, happy ending when you know that the entire world just got blown to shreds but who cares because the main characters survived. |
| That scene where Hikaru and Minmay make their feelings known. Really well done, even I was hurting a bit there. I didn't like Minmay's songs in the beginning but I grew to love them as the series went on. Damn you protoculture. Hikaru and Misa finally reunite! They've definitely sorted out their feelings about each other. Love this ship. Though I thought their reaction to the Earth being desecrated to be a bit weird but i'll overlook it. If the series ended here, I would have no complaints. Well except that Misa and Hikaru should have kissed again in this episode. P.S. Lol at Kamujin's reaction |

| probably the best episode not because it was epic but because it answered so many question and filled the void it made all the little minmay problems make it feel like it was fine because at the end of the day shes a young girl and she was lead to believe they are just friends. from personal experience i can appericate it more, i guess i was mad at her early on because i know how one sided love can be but he did make a mistake by not making his feelings clear earlier. |

| Sure, kinda ridiculous in many ways, but even so, a fantastic episode. Also, being a bit ridiculous is part of Macross's charm I think. Misa ship forever united! I still don't trust my desired Misa ending, but know, if things go wrong, I'll just convince myself this was the last episode. |

| Yeah.....the calmn reaction to destruction of earth was so typical of this show but what evar. This show is great campy fun so i let shit like that slide. I do wonder where this goes from here. Seemed like it should have just wrapped up here so it's weird that it goes on for 9 more episodes. |

| Well now I see where most of the budget went!! That was truly a spectacular episode, but I see it's still suffering from the pacing issues it has had of late. Crazy consequential shit happens at a moment's notice without much buildup. I was really glad to see Hikaru have real growth, finally manning up to express his feelings, as well as let go of Minmay and do what he must. Now I'm just perplexed at what they're going to do for the rest of the series! |

| What a superb finale ! Everything looked beautiful and moved elegantly (even more so because of the strong contrast with average episodes). It was emotional and exciting. The Earth annihilation was surprising and its scenes were shocking. (Hayase surviving her planet when everyone included those stationning with her died seemed pretty stupid in such a moment, but thanks to everything else, it only stood out after the episode's end) Just how did Minmei end up in love with Kaifun? It was Hikaru that she was seeing a few episodes ago through him. It was even played like she had slowly started to realize he was more important than a simple friend. 5/5 Perfect final episode (even if it doesn't please me) Score: 7.5/10 Not sure if I'll go for a 7 or an 8, the numerous negative and few positive peaks in term of pictures have quite a wide gap. Wait, there is more? o_O   I wouldn't have mind drawings quality to be a little inferior for this one combined with a raise in quality for the most common episodes poor quality. It was great, but I fail to see how it can continue with a NINE episodes epilogue. edit @CodeBlazeFate Half-joking, but what was this Kaifun crap!?!!! |

| Awesome episode ... all the best of Macross reunited in a single episode. Animation: check Emotion: check Romance: check Memorable drawings: check Music: check Epicness: check All the serie's plots launched several episodes earlier converge here and the series could perfectly stop here. This episode made me realize how much I love this series, its characters and its music. Now I wonder what the last 9 episodes will hold, it will be hard to equal this wonderful episode but I am curious to see what will happen ! |
