| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Old exorcist with glasses. She failed to get youkai because another youkai got involved instead and got injured. That another youkai came to get Natsume, thinking that he's Reiko. He wants a friend to get released from the yuujinchou. That youkai got caught by the exorcist. Nyanko sensei fell in a well with seal that the old woman exorcist got trapped. She told who was sealed in the well. A trip to meet Reiko ended up meeting a youkai who was previously another exorcist. Then they helped each other to get off the wall. So that another youkai's friend was the guy the old exorcist mentioned. And with that stone, Natsume released him. Nyanko sensei didn't tell him what he heard, which is related. Another festival next ep. Ishida-san's character again! |

| Aaaahh, I've been dying to know how the Matoba woman knows Reiko! She's always seemed a little too obsessed with her. And again, there were mentions of Reiko being a strong exorcist. It's all so mysterious. But I don't remember ever reading this in the manga, and I've read every released chapter. Is this filler? I mean it's pretty significant as far as plot goes, so it'd be practically criminal if it were filler. Ah well, maybe it'll be released as an extra or as a future chapter. It was an excellent episode, though. It's good to know that Matoba woman has a heart that isn't completely black. But she really should know her place, like Sensei tells her, and stop threatening to seal Sensei. Not funny. Because knowing Matoba, they might just do that. :/ |
| This episode was probably based on some omake like episode 5. This episode was OK, but it wasn't anything special. It's interesting that we got to know more about Nanatsuji's past. I hope that we will get to know more about Matoba's past too...imagine it!Flashbacks with kid!Matoba. And I just can't wait for next week's episode! I loved that arc in the manga~ I thought that Nanatsuji met Reiko at some point but it seems not... |

| Nanase never changed her hairstyle :D It's good that once in a while they focus on other characters, but I like the episodes featuring Natsume and Nyanko-sensei the most. |

| Lawlz, I started this episode yesterday and finished it today since I was busy. -_-" It kinda ruined the flow a bit. I love Mizukage-san's voice! It's so reassuring and peaceful. I'd want my husband's voice to be like that :3 But besides that, REALLY REALLY great episode. I enjoyed it a lot and all the beginning parts came together at the end of the episode. Super cool way of executing the story. And I kind of thought Kakashi (big Nyanko-sensei xD) wouldn't be able to fit through the well, but he did. Coolz! Hrm.. Katsura (Natori-san xD; I just love these voices and acquaint them with another character lawlz) next episode! <3 I'm exciteddddddd. 5/5 - Really good execution and story :D ahin said: at first, I thought Mikage was ancestor of Matoba :'D Lawlz! | I don't like that old lady, but knowing her past made me so sad. Not fair, Natsume, not fair. ;A; I'm loving how this season is focusing more in the ayakashi world and people who can see them. Matoba, the old lady, Tanuma getting more involved and humansxyoukais stories. The lonely-wolf Natsume is becoming more like a secondary character in some episodes and that's quite good too, I love how they explore his past and sad memmories, but more episodes with stories like the Mikage one are great too, specially when it deals with exorcists and what's right and wrong... I miss Reiko a little, I wished they put the meeting she had with Mikage when Natsume returned his name (I wanted to know why she refused. Maybe it's really just lazyness...). What about that water well? Nyanko-sensei wanted to meet InuYasha? dhusfudgfyfgdygdf;; |

Here are some theories: "Natsume has to know what their face looks like in order to find the name (he doesn’t always know the name of the youkai and must search for it in the book). In order to release them he has to know their name. In this case the little youkai told him the name so I don’t think he needed to see the face." And this one: "Well, technically if he saw the stone he saw the face. He was face to face with it." Since Mikage said he was returning to his original form, so... Does this makes sense? Since I don't quite remember the returning-name rule... :P |
| I'm not interested in the old lady so this episode was pretty boring for me. Next episode looks intriguing! We get to see Natori again. |
| That was a somewhat sad story, but it was nice. I still don't exactly like that woman though. |
| I wonder if Nanase ever met Reiko in the end. And it was nice to see something from her past seems she was a pretty shy kid not to mention that she had the same disadvantage as Natsume, that the where considered creepy. But the overcame that. |

It’s good to know Nanase isn’t as ruthless and “evil” as we’d initially thought, despite being an antagonist pertaining to the Matoba clan. … Not that I truly like her, in any case. Mikage did surprise me — I wasn’t expecting it to turn out like that. Ah, deepening and developing side characters is indeed one of the many reasons I love Natsume Yuujinchou so much. I don’t know why, but I found it sort of funny how Nyanko-sensei had the whole story, from start to finish, in front of him and Natsume was merely returning Mikage’s name as a petition — unaware of who was that person that had sealed him. I had thought she met Reiko at some point, but it seems they didn’t get to see each other’s faces. Alternatively, perhaps they did. Who knows? Oh man, next episode is going to be fabulous~ |

| I liked this episode, I still dislike Nanase her personality though I felt sorry for her that she was asked to seal Mikage (that was his name, right?) after he helped her... That said, I was really happy Natsume managed to release him while giving his name back :) |

I didn't like Nanase at first, but this episode made me understand her a little more. It must have been sad to have to seal away Mikage :( I teared up at the end when Natsume gave back Mikage's name. That "balloon" youkai was cute, and I love how loyal he is to his master. |

| Mikage reminds me of Hei. Having the same voice actor helps a lot with that too. |
| Episode that goes beyond the story of Natsume, but still has its value and by characterizing the character to Nanase. From this we understand that there is a careful work behind the Natsume TV series, in which each by a contribution aimed at building the story of the protagonist, and also to shape the world in which he moves, but also of the other characters, fantastic! The beautiful story told in the end also Nanase is not a bad character, she also has its positive sides. |

| Pretty nice backstory episode for that megane hag. But the thing that kept bugging me was how they mistakenly kept calling it "karma". Not sure if it's the translator's mistake, but that's not what karma means. Karma simply means actions. What they were referring to is Dharma, which is your duty and responsibility as an individual based on the talents, abilities you were born with and your place in the cycle of life. Or maybe the meaning Karma and Dharma are interchangeable in Japanese Buddhism/culture. |
