Who directly comes to your sense when you hear the words insanity, darkness, pysychological crazy bastard (^^) or similar ones? | I was going to say Johan from monster... You know before the whole Lucy seems to have the metal f*ck up attitude I admire, but her whole aspect with Kouta makes her seem less ideal. Even though the thread title is best one, I simply cannot choose between these three Medicine Seller his speech, his appearence, everything about him just generally impresses me. | Listed the charas, except pino. Don't understand me wrong, Omega. I love Pino, she is a great character, but is she dark? I wouldn't say. In Ergo Proxy she is the most pure character, I think. |

| Alucard from Hellsing C'mon, he is THE vampire that started it all (Dracula). He loves killing his master's enemies so much that he somewhat toys with them by torturing them or otherwise it would be too easy. Not to mention, he lives on blood so you’re guaranteed A LOT of it. Not only that but I found that fascinating that it was inspired from a real person in history. The author, Kouta Hirano based him from the real inspiration of Bram Stoker's book Dracula, Vlad III the Impaler. Who really did impale his enemies on stakes until they bled to death while he watched! (just like OVA 3 on the flag poles) Anime's No.1 Best Darkest-Anime Character in my opinion! |

| The BEST dark character would have to be Albedo from Xenosaga (the anime AND the games). His insanity is truly awe inspiring,and ifyou wonder what I mean, then watch this clip that was censored from the game http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95mwIi8lVHQ That clip deserves an oscar. In many ways Albedo is a lot like Sephiroth in that he is the archetypal good guy gone insane, and they ALWAYS make the best bad guys. The reason I chose Albedo though, is because his clothing is not the stereotypical black or red of other dark characters. At certain points in the anime and the game his attitude is almost angelic as well. The darkest characters don't toy with their prey, or attack them with cleavers and such. The truly dark charactershave a story of their own to tell, and convince you to go along for the ride (Count D from Petshop of Horrors is a great example of this). They also convince you that anything they do is for the greater good. Remember the darkest chapters in human history have almost always been caused by people who thought they were doing "good" works |
