I liked that short story set in the desert, with the boy with gender issues and the tower. His art style really suits deserts and crumbling urban environments. I really hope he sets one of his stories in Kowloon Walled City in the future (is that too oddly specific?).
The way he draws men tends to look better from far away...but his women are gorgeous, even if they have a serious case of sameface.
Hmm, I enjoyed Freesia, Wendy and Keep on Vibrating (what an introduction), but I think Tropical Citron is probably the best executed of Matsumoto's works that I have read. It's a lot more subtle than Wendy (I am almost sure it's a retelling of Alice in Wonderland - did you get that impression also?), but it retains a lot of the strange energy of Keep on Vibrating - like the Jabberwocky girls. Also, Matsumoto's fetish for large-breased, short-haired, thick-lipped women returns.
Haha, I enjoyed your interpretation. I believe there is room enough in this infinite mental space that we call "culture" for there to be media that tests and media that soothes. One way or another, both of those things are the flipside of the same coin. The industry that supports one propogates the other, which is something that you might find disgusting, but isn't it kind of beautiful in its own way? Either way, but both got a laugh out of me.
I suppose you can't underestimate the effect on your internal organs though. In 20 years you might get diagnosed with some kind of Rozen Maiden related disease, such as insanity or rabies.
The way compatibility is score is really stupid. It only really depends on what series the two people share. It doesnt really take scores or anything into account I dont think.
And meh... It's overrated to me, but I can appreciate why; a good theme and music as well as pretty cool characters will do that :P. But I might look into the movie someday, honestly. Thanks for the heads up
I liked the second season of Higurashi more because it brought everything together really well I thought; I inititally dropped the first season because I thought it was just a string of random horror and was thoroughly confused. So, since I dropped it, I decided to knock it a point. :P
And I plan on watching Monster more, but that's after I finish my current run. I heard it gets very good indeed.
I accidentally read a spoiler for Berserk so i dropped it. Might pick it up again.
I disliked Bebop because it was largely episodic; I liked the music and theme a lot, but I didn't know what the central plot was, so I dropped it. For me, in action shows like this, the plot has to be evident to keep me entertained. That's all really.
Thanks overall; I don't know how to effectively change my list's background, so I just left it like that. Any tips would be appreciated :)
Hi, what can I say? It has become pretty bland somewhere after chapter 300. There are times when I really want to put it on-hold, but then some decent chapter comes out and I'm drawn back to it again. I've heard that Oku wants to end Gantz this year, so I hope things will move in the right direction soon. And hopefully we get a proper ending. Well I watched only the first episode of Onizuka, so I'm not really one to talk but I wasn't very wowed by it. It has pretty high ratings and good reviews so I think I was just expecting too much and that's the reason for my lack of interest. But the next episodes might be better so I give it a chance.
