When I went on Twitter during DDD season 1, my feed was flooded with Momo x Okarun art or people talking about how much they loved the show.

But now when SD is airing, everyone's silent. This is one of the more popular Jump titles too.

very humble opinion, hope ppl dont get mad. But i think it was the lack of promotion, i didnt see sakamoto days being heavily pushed as ddd. Ddd also had a theatrical release (3 eps), it was streamed in multiple streaming sites like netflix, crunchyroll, abema, etc. Had a very popular opening as well.

Sakamoto Days wasn’t heavily advertised or promoted like DanDaDan was, so there isn’t much hype when the anime starts airing.

If I had to choose between One Piece and a girlfriend...I think I'll go with One Piece

Bruh, idk myself...i am loving the show, I love the art style and the animation isn't bad either....idk why the ratings are decreasing day by day..

Why are the ratings so low.....is it that bad.... because personally I am enjoying the show....it's fun... Action is good and all but I love the charecter interactions...

Well the animation of the anime is just ok, but the art and the choreography of the fights are insane, even the author of JJK GeGe Praise the Sakamoto Days Manga that he is ashamed that his art is nothing compared to the art of Sakamoto Days, So you might have an idea now how hype the Manga is, The Art in the Manga is very Cool looking like how all the characters and fights in JJK Season 2 looks Cool. You can check out some of the comparison videos in YouTube and see for yourself how Insane the Manga is and how ok the anime is.

Sd was never meant to be as hit as dandadan. Promotion and marketing aside, the animations or visuals are nothing special, moreover generic, if I am being honest. It's a good manga but anime is a let down in various aspects. It is also a matter of fact that not every good anime receives a good adaptation.

Anime only here.
I mean, so far it's just a chill show. There has been good action, but everything is pretty lighthearted and reminiscent of Spy Family with less humour and more fighting.

Dandadan was creative as hell with everything it did story wise, and hype moments really got you hyped. After taking DDD episode 7 into the equation, it isn't even a comparison anymore.

not only that, ddd also has a very good story. ddd can make people feel sad, annoyed, happy. for example, at the beginning of the episode, we will definitely be annoyed with Aira but in the middle of the episode we become concerned about Aira. and at the end of the episode we feel like/happy/normal with Aira. with that ddd is proven to have a very good Dev character. So that's what's missing from Sakamoto days.

tbh it's a good story with some cool characters, the archetype of the bored/chill overpowered main guy is cool, but comparing to Dandadan, Sakamoto Days it's not so amazing like everyone said to me. Probably more promotion by Netflix, also more distribution would have helped to boost the hype, maybe.

It’s quite average, I don’t have the feeling being drawn to the screen. The episodes don’t rush by. A solid 7, maybe an 8.
With Dandadan I really got sucked in, episodes fly by. The Acrobatic Silky episode (s1e7) was next level, a really great episode pulling the show to a higher level on an emotional level. Haven’t seen that with Sakamoto

Directing, animation, and on top of that early on it seemed like the author wasn’t really set on the tone and direction he was gonna give his story. Trust me it gets more serious and story driven with bombastic action and compelling characters.

It's pretty much the same thing, instead of spies and all that stuff you get hitmen, eveything is way too over the top and exaggerated, one second everything seems serious, the next it's just comedic scenes. Both even have a psychic/mind reader character. Only difference is that Spy x Family is child care and more about the family part.

@GTRaijin Are you a Sakamoto Days manga reader ? Cause I can assure you it really isn't anything like Spy X Family (if it was I would have totally dropped it). Like I said maybe early on it could feel like it but it quickly shifts to a more serious action driven tone.

if anything, i would ask why the manga is so popular, maybe the art is really great or there are some great arcs later on or something, i have no idea as an anime only, but the anime is just fine in my opinion, nothing that warrants excitement to the degree of dandadan.

I don't think I've ever once compared a show to another show. At least not in the way where I think ooo this could be just as good or better than so on. Every show is different and is unique in its own way. If you set your expectations to meet a previous show, most likely they won't ever meet those expectations.

You'll only see the negative sides of the show because it doesn't "compare" to the one you expected it to be like, either by similarity or popularity. You'll fail to see the good parts about the show because you're constantly expecting it to live up to the prior which will in turn, make the so called bad elements unnecessarily worse in your eyes.

But live life how you want my guy, I'm not here to judge, just to give my humble opinion. I just watch shows because I like them and or just like certain aspects about them. If I start comparing this and that rather than just enjoying the show, personally I'll just end up hating it for the smallest reasons.

Sakamoto Days is more like Gintama and Dandadan is more like Naruto. Even if Sakamoto got the same level of promotion the shounen about teenagers tends to be more popular on western social media.

Dandadan feels special. It feels new and fresh, even though it falls into many of the same tropes of a standard shonen. It does it in a unique and weird way that people connect with more. It has its own identity and leans into that. It also has a female lead, which is something newish for shonen, and the animation is really good.

Sakamoto is a story some of us have heard before. To me it’s kinda like Way of House Husband, and it doesn’t depart enough to set itself apart from the other, 30+ shonen titles I have encountered at this point. Paired with the same shonen tropes we know, and…. good but not great animation, it’s no wonder it’s not as big in the anime community.

But I really do hope it catches on more. Having an older protagonist in shonen is something I hope we see more of, as the genre continues to diversify, break its norms and expand out from what it is.

Out of curiosity, exactly how would you say that the animation isn't that hot?

Granted I do think the opening could use less choppy animation at parts but I'm mainly talking about the actual show itself.

Wasn’t there a post the other day saying viewership wise around the world SD is doing a lot better than DDD.

Just because your Twitter feed had more of one than the other doesn’t mean that one is doing better.

I also never heard people comparing the two, seems weird to do as well since they are nothing alike

as an anime only the animation is really good the story is really good stop caring about what others say about the product and have your own opinion and stop being a sheep the mindset of 2000 animation is bad means anime is bad is dumb animation like demon slayer takes too long and not every anime needs that high of animation only when it's necessary and when the studio has the budget for it etc

this thread thinking good animation, tear-bait and gooner material is ''fresh'' pretty much sums up how braindead the people in here are. same with the clowns thinking it's the same thing as spy x family where there's no plot progression. besides, the only time dandadan art really popped up on my feed was during the emergence of KlanKlaKlan, and that's as a manga reader.
