Do you mean Avatar: The Last Airbender. I haven't watched it yet, surprisingly. But I will - it's not a matter of like/dislike even, just always looking for quality family-friendly stuff (they don't like my anime hobby and often pout when I suggest non-western stuff, haha).
PS: Helluva is kinky/edgy over the top maybe, but Hazbin is one of the best animated musicals I have seen.
Ah, got it. Well, I don't have the same feeling, but it's generally hard to compare polished product with indie stuff. What do you think about the titles I mentioned btw? Do you like them?
Thanks for the reply. I didn't follow the conversation in detail.
Well, there are some good aspects of doujinshi as well, such as the ability to buy digital versions of some items, but there are also more bad aspects, such as AI illustrations becoming a problem and pirated copies being released without the author's knowledge... I think.
Hello. I was curious about your comment on the thread, so I commented on your profile page.
Is doujinshi used in other countries exclusively for self-published printed materials with hentai content?
In Japan, not all doujinshi are sold for profit. Some people distribute them for free, while others do it as a hobby and make a loss, including sales and overhead costs. In addition, not all doujinshis are derivative works, as they also include original works. Also, not all doujinshi are derivative works, since they also include original works. In fact, I have bought and owned dojinshis at comic markets. Manga, illustration collections, novels, recipes, travelogues, etc. without hentai content that are self-published and distributed are counted as dojinshis.
Basically, doujinshi are sometimes referred to as “distribution” rather than “sale.
Some works have detailed rules and regulations regarding the distribution of derivative works (doujinshi and doujin goods), including the following.
Example:
Ansamburu Stars!
Only works that you sell yourself (excluding made-to-order products).
The estimated sales amount (*) must be less than 100,000 yen.
Doujinshi must not generate excessive sales.

Please enjoy the secondary works.
Please do not do anything that will damage the work.
Please do not do anything that will damage the works.
Please refrain from any actions that hurt the fans.
If the setting differs from that of the main story, please make a note in advance so as not to cause misunderstanding.
(Acting as if it is the official setting is not acceptable.)
Do not use them for promotional purposes.
In addition, there have been cases in the past where doujinshi that could be mistaken for official works have been warned by the publishers who manage the author's rights to remove the works.
Hi, sorry, I didn't respond to your last message. Yeah, holiday season: kids at home, guests, events - all that chaos. Plus my wifey's parents and her girlfriend stay at our place (what a mess!), I can't just show em my back and hide in the cinema room, haha.
I'm taking a break until January, it will be sorted out by then.
Merry Christmas!

And you might want to improve your grammar since you don't seem to know the difference between then and than.
If you were born in 1981 like you said, then why did you wait until this year to get MAL. You could've joined/signed up for MAL back in late 2000's or in 2010 like I did. Why didn't you join MAL some 20 years ago if you were a long time anime fan?
Also, I should disclose that I'm on the autism spectrum and yes my grammar is not perfect, so I want to let you know that. Unless you have something against the autistic/neurodivergent communities, then I'm going to have a problem with you.
Are you kidding or serious about Rapeman? I tried to watch it once as some other meme-anime, and found it unbearably dull. One of those that don't get a second chance lol.
Haha, true. Soul Eater is a bit outside my usual preferences, but its amazing opening sold me on it so easily. I really like the surreal imagery, though we'll see if it's worth the full 51 episodes. I'm expecting at least some sort of Madoka-like dark twist from it.
Cool Devices made it onto my list after someone mentioned it in the context of A Kite, which is still my favorite hentai. As for Ojiisan no Lamp, I probably just forgot to add it - fixed that now. Also moved Kono Sekai to my watching list. Thanks for the reminder.
Oh, that's an easy one. I posted something silly, like "we need more hardcore child smut in anime, arrrrgh", and it got recommended to me as "gender-swapped Utena". I noticed the BL tag, but since it was short and had an appealing art style, I figured, why not? I'm not a homophobe - just not particularly into that theme. But, uh, that definitely wasn't "gender-swapped Utena", lol.
By the way, I'm watching Mushishi now, and it somehow gets better and better. Not updating the list yet, will do that when I'm back home, maybe this weekend. Thanks!

And thank you for the links. But I can't find Tako ni Natta Okaasan, I'm afraid.
Will check the other two tonight, thank you.

By the way, have you seen this documentary? It somehow flew under my radar, but I think it's surprisingly good (if you're into the horror genre and cinema in general):

I missed the new Nosferatu premiere, so I've been rewatching old films while waiting for its release…
