An interesting protagonist especially given her lack of experience about love. She's also an animator but has somewhat of a peculiar personality.

MAPPA testing the waters with this premise is a fairly interesting idea imo. There's also the light fantasy elements introduced with the other characters and setting. It feels like they want the protagonist to understand more about what she animates. Natsuko also has an unique look compared to soem of the other female main characters this Winter season. I'd say this has a lot of potential.

That looks like a dumb as fuck anime to get “massive” recognition from. Though then again, these people know how their domestic market works, so yeah, draw them something which whirls around wearing a short skirt plus transformation plus cute girl and bingo. Still this girl being a whole talent center herself, was portrayed the way I thought she would by reading whatever little was present of this series. I mean she’s arrogant and has closed herself off completely. Doesn’t like taking opinions and yeah, isn’t liked by her coworkers as well, except she’s talented so yeah, they have to take her seriously.

Pretty standard stuff though overall, with how she failed to communicate with her own characters properly and ended up being the deadweight she would’ve always been if it wasn’t for her talent, minus the entire sequence where she helped those people with that dope transformation. So yeah, this looks GREAT(it needs to be in capital), visually, though again, this ain’t a series which is depicting the numerous struggles of animators in the industry, which I thought it’d.

Decent enough start. Nothing more nothing less. She should show her face more though, I mean she looks good xD

This whole genre of an anime about animating, or whatever you'd like to call it is nothing new per se, but when you mix in overworking and MAPPA... I'm pretty sure those two are synonyms of each other, so when THE studio known for overworking makes a show making fun of it, well it's obviously not the best of looks lol.

But whatever, we're here and I mean, anything MAPPA is always good so I won't complain... but god I hate the MC's CD. I don't know who's idea it was to make it so her long ass hair covers those MAPPA eyes, but it wasn't a good one. But yeah, takes like ten minutes but the plot actually kicks in, as our MC dies, contrary to popular belief, NOT from overworking... but from her food...???? And gets isekaied into the movie she was watching before she died, and gets INSTA saved by the MCs of that movie.

We got Mrs. Elf, Mr. Knight, and very clearly marketable plushie as well. But that gang just leaves MC here alone in the middle of the desert.. LOL, so it's her job to make her way to the town by herself. And FIRST thing she does when she sees the gang again, she just starts fangirling and reciting what they said in the movie in her head.. lmaoooo.

But yeah, she really just stalks them for the rest of the episode and just fiends for the food because of how hungry she is, until some monsters show up in front of the town, and by some monsters, I mean a WHOLE FUCKING SWARM of them pulls up and starts jumping Mr. Knight. So ofc, knowing what's gonna happen, MC awakens her powers of... script writing? She gets her own little desk and paper to make a script of some sorts I think, and summons some weird ass monster, that ofc launches a fire ass attack and saves marketable plushie!

Was a decent premiere overall though. Animation is as crisp as any other MAPPA show. Have high hopes going from here.

It's crazy to think that of all studios, MAPPA would be the ones helming this original show about animators making anime...only to twist the plot by making it an Isekai, what a perfect irony of all things wrong.

The professional animator of Natsuko Hirose who's a master of all from storyboarding to directorialship, always categorized by looking like a ghost with hair covering her face and known for her shut-in personality, her work doesn't disappoint because it is all good. But with a case of food poisoning, that leads to death, more than the request to complete her own rom-com project, sends her to the anime movie of her childhood dream's world of A Tale of Perishing, being saved from the bug-like Void by its titular hero of Luke Braveheart and his party of unicorn Unio, elf Memmeln and totem QJ.

Natsuko learning to see the world at large and its characters, it's exactly how she remembers it from her childhood, though she's kind of a frenetic woman herself, desperately hungry but rejected by Luke and the rest. But a sudden emergency to defend the Last Town from the Void army, and its massive army forces Luke to take action against the horde, struggling massively against the bug-like beings on his own. However, Hirose can change the outcome that she saw with the talking pegbar that converts into a portable manuscript workdesk to draw things beyond her belief, averting Unio's valiant death as one of the Nine Soldiers.

Sou's ED is intriguing, and has a groove to it that's certified good.

Not gonna lie, as sus as this show sounds, it's actually interesting, gorgeous even. And I don't know how, but MAPPA, you've got my attention now.

Very pretty-looking show. The premise is nothing unique but a fun take on the re-doing of the fate of the universe she knows and trying to prevent it from getting destroyed.

Natsuko is a genius director and she hates when someone meddles with her work or when she's not letting anyone else do the job for her work. Understandable. And, behind her hair, such a cute face. I didn't expect to see her face so soon but I'm happy to see it nonetheless. The party members look fun as well, tho what now, has she changed their fate, so she has no idea how things go forward, Can't wait to see how things of forward in this original. Really enjoyed the first episode. Beautiful animation and a gorgeous OST. The ED was really nice as well. Good start.

I think it's good so far, the graphics are excellent, it's almost excessive lol, the characters are great, so this isn't an isekai, what is it then? The dubbing is so-so, her voice was way too high-pitched!!! "She came from the Royal world and she's an animator!!!! Lol"

Mappa makes anime about anime production: I see the irony
Animator dies during work: Woah, they going dark and realistic
Isekai: Ok, dying as mappa animator not so bad huh. You get to go on an adventure.

Somewhat similar concept as ReCreators but here the animator went inside a story. I remember there were other anime or shows with similar setting of mc/people going into story worlds and helping there but can't seem to remember any specific one atm.

The entire episode I was thinking whether this was really an isekai or it was just her experiencing the story in her dreams while unconscious. But seems like she's indeed in the story world and has the power to change their fate. So basically she'll go through their story, come to learn the things she's lacking to make that romance movie and finally wake up/ go back to her world and make a masterpiece.

Anyway was quite interested in this one because thought it would be about the anime industry but this just feels like a big clickbait after this episode. Eh whatever, might not even continue but we'll see.

Nice animation and that’s all (seriously, that ‘transformation’ scene looked fantastic).
Overall it felt more like a western cartoon (character reactions, acting style/direction, blockbuster music and specific goofiness) to me (and as far I’ve seen on various boards, I’m not the only one). And too much furry shit on the top of it.
I don’t buy the storytelling style, characters and things I mentioned above. Too many other series to watch in this season.
Drop.

Another candidate for best new anime of the season appears!
I don't trust MAPPA enough to expect this to last, but this is my favorite première of the season so far!
It's an isekai to an anime that the main character has already watched. I find that very interesting!
My main question is: Will she be able to keep that advantage if the events of the story have already started changing?
I also want to make some comments on the animation.
Natsuko's "magical girl transformation" is beautiful (which probably means that they are going to be reusing it, which is fine by me).
On top of that I love the design of the monster she created! I wouldn't be surprised if they literally used the genga as is!
Finally, I have to say that I can't help but get excited when I think that Tsuruyama may have also been transported to this world!
There is a lot of room for creativity when a creation meets its creator (like we see in Re:Creators)!
Overall, I'm more excited than I already was about this show, but I also know it's MAPPA...
Let's say I'm cautiously optimistic.

I like isekai / tensei shows with a Female MC, this one didn't disappoint with its first episode, the animation when she summoned her workstation attack was gorgeous and so colorful, I'm also a big fan of Kugimiya Rie's silly voice like Vyrn, I guess I'm "glad" Natsuko died from food poisoning instead of overworking, that would have been in bad taste, specially from MAPPA.

Funnily enough I was going to skip it because I thought it was going to be a show about the anime industry which is a topic / genre I don't particularly care.

@Suginami85 It's an isekai similar to Western Portal fantasies where the characters go to a fantasy world and then when its finished will return to their world. In this case the portal is the bout of food poisoning she is experiencing

Well that's my guess anyway

I only watched the first trailer of this anime and seeing the first episode I was really surprised. I did not see some general isekai story coming, as I was hoping for something about the anime making industry. I really hope that MAPPA is cooking something great up, and this won't turn out to be just another cookie cutter isekai where the only difference is that the protagonist now has the super power of drawing instead of whatever else.

Welp, watched this based on the plot synopsis thinking it would be a workplace slice of life a la Shirobako and the like... And it's an isekai.

As I was watching I thought to myself, why did I add this to my seasonal watch list, I wouldn't pick an isekai, did I just not read it properly while I was making my picks for the season? But no, I was simply bamboozled and lead astray smh.

This could be worth it just to see what other anime/manga references she pulls out to save the day. First on the list is a God Warrior from Nausicaa, though it wasn't in drippy, dying form, and I had a giggle as the expected beam didn't emerge from the mouth like in the original, and as the lighting implied for a moment, but twin beams from the eyes.

This is the second time I've watched an original anime from this studio and it's a pointless mess. (I'm looking at you, Taisou Zamurai) There won't be a third time. From today onwards, I make it a rule not to watch original anime from MAPPA.

Oh...from the synopsis, I certainly didn't expect this kind of development. I thought it would be a normal work life story featuring Natsuko's struggles as a director and showing step-by-step her development in creating a storyboard. The first episode certainly wasn't bad, but for me it's very disappointing, to say the least. Well, I'll still give it a shot. The direction and animation is great, as expected of MAPPA...I can't believe they made her literally summon her work desk in the middle of a battlefield lmao. Ngl I'm more interested in seeing the dark version of the movie where Luke goes insane. Hope Natsuko won't deus ex machina her way through solving everything for the heroes through her OP powers of drawing things into life.

So this is an isekai? If it is, and she really is in another world, I think that over the course of the episodes the plot will become very predictable and consequently boring.

The protagonist herself is a little interesting, but that's it. The rest of the cast and the world she finds herself in didn't captivate me at all. I hope this isn't isekai, and that she's just dreaming and will wake up with more creativity later. The story itself isn't that interesting if it follows the isekai line.

The animation is surprisingly decent, well MAPPA is behind it, right? The production itself seems well above the average of common isekai, now we just need to know how the characters and the world will make this anime interesting or not. This episode 1, didn't show anything too incredible and it didn't become bad either, it's middle ground for me, However, the fact that it is an isekai no longer gives me much hope for the narrative.

Hmm, pretty interesting first episode with the potential to having something unique in that the MC, Natsuko, will change the course of events of a movie (or series, not sure what this is) she already watched, kind of like time traveling I suppose. Speaking of her, I'm not sure if she's dead or in a coma due to food poisoning, my guess for the time being is the latter and she will gain romantic inspiration that she's currently lacking, most likely from the blonde guy she helped.
