Welp, I wasn't expecting Inaba to get this much attention. He got Shinobu, and the others involved in this.

Such an odd episode with rabbit gimmicks, bunny girls, and fantasy land setting. All logic has been thrown out the window but it's obvious this show defies common sense at this point. Inaba played his role well though imo, with his request. Only thing that was distracting was his outfit. He looks like a meme lol

Finally, after so many episodes with those annoying characters, we're getting more Inaba and Shinobu.

Shinobu waits for Ataru and Lum to arrive so they can see a movie together, but they're late, leaving her feeling humiliated. When they finally show up, Lum explains that Ataru delayed them by hitting on girls, which angers Shinobu. She storms off, feeling frustrated about meeting a nice guy. As she ponders this, she encounters Inaba, who has an important question: he wants her to be his girlfriend. After some awkwardness, he explains that he needs to complete a quest to get a job promotion, which involves picking a rare flower in the space-time forest with his girlfriend.

Feeling sorry for him, Shinobu agrees, and they set off, with Ataru and Lum joining them. Inaba leads them to a set of ominous doors, which reveal a women's bathroom. Ataru starts causing trouble by hitting on the bathing girls, while Lum tries to stop him. Shinobu remains calm and prepares to cross the bathroom to reach the other door, but Inaba struggles with embarrassment. When rabbits show up to mock Inaba, Shinobu gives him a push, causing him to slip and slide across the room to the door.

It's nice to see Shinobu and Inaba getting some love in this final season.

Nice to see Inaba again. Flower retrieval with a girl in tow huh. That meremaid sure didn't account for Shinobu's strength for sure. The bout with the golem though was cool. Im glad that despite the mishaps that they went through that the romance feelings between the two were able to revit the flower.

Finally, OP and ED lyrics! The lyrics just made me more sad about the series ending very soon. Also, one cool thing I noticed was that the lyrics for OP3 and ED3 also showed up in the first Inaba episode. That's a pretty cool coincidence.

Anyway, we finally got an adaptation of Flower Petals of Love and Courage and I gotta say it was beautiful. This was just a gorgeous episode, especially near the end with the flowers.

One weird thing was that in the manga Ataru was wearing a tank top but for some reason, it got changed to a t-shirt in the anime. It's a small change which just makes it more confusing for me why they changed it. They also took away Ataru's unique outfit and just had him wear his school uniform near the end of Love Knows no Barriers in Episode 1 of Season 2. Pretty weird. But at least Lum's amazing outfit makes up for that.

2 already adapted stories next week. That's disappointing cos I think they could've adapted some other unadapted chapters instead. Like Chapter 320 Ultra-Colorful Couple's Look and Chapter 322 Darling's True Feelings. It seems like after Season 2 Part 1 they just aren't interested in adapting any AtaLum stuff.

Even among already adapted chapters there were other better options such as Chapter 353 I Howl at the Moon which is the reverse/Ataru version of Lum Becomes a Cow and Chapter 183 A Night Alone where Ataru sleeps with Lum. The 46-episode limit is truly the bane of the remake.

Episode 42 will likely be the last episode before the final arc begins.

I'll admit I didn't really get what was going on in the first half, but the last few minutes were so incredibly sweet. This show really knows how to make you care about its couples and Shinobu and Inaba's relationship in this episode is a prime example of that.

This was a banger episode, it really felt like it could have been an episode of the original show, and I’m also really glad we got more on Inaba beyond his introduction and his appearances in Movie 5, maybe he won’t feel quite as random being there when that stuff is adapted in the remake now. And there were lots of fun moments in this one, pretty much the entire test was a rollercoaster of hilarity with Ataru falling for several traps, I especially liked the one where the hot babe he saved turned into that god looking fella lol.

And despite Inaba and Shinobu not knowing each other for long, they managed to get by most of the test without much problems, until Inaba tried saving Shinobu from that mermaid which caused Shinobu to want to leave and wouldn’t hear any excuse, an unfortunate misunderstanding but thankfully when Shinobu witnessed Inaba get his ass beat for her she realized the error of her ways and dragged him to the end. And it appeared they were too late at first as the flower was wilted, but after the two of them had that very nice moment it ended up blooming after all, I loved that final bit between them in the flowers before the ED played, not just for the moment itself but also the art on the background, this whole episode looked really good honestly, not to mention Lum’s outfit which is one of her bests imo.

And it’s a bit of a shame it looks like we might not be getting anymore unadapted stories but I’m looking forward to the rest nonetheless, might as well enjoy the last stretch of the ride.

One of the best chapters of the manga - it marks a decisive turning point in relation to Shinobou. I was really surprised to read that this chapter wasn't adapted in the 80s version and I can only explain it in that way appeared after the anime series was set and therefore simply “slid out”. If the anime series had continued a little longer, the story would definitely have been animated.

All the more gratifying after 38 years to finally see that the chapter is getting what it deserves. The story is full of typical Takahashi ideas, including the whole rabbit world, the door monster and the garden. This, accompanied by the wonderful animation and the rich color palette, makes this episode a real viewing pleasure.😍

I also noticed the music very positively this time. The background melody when Ibana followed Shinobu across the street or Lum and Ataru dined with the other rabbits almost reminded me of some of the background melodies from the 80s version.
The music that was played during the final presentation of the bouquet also really expressed the whole thing.💐

It's rare to see Shinobu so happy and after all the experiences she's had with men (her crush Mendo watches Lum, Ataru seems to pursue all women), she more than deserves it.

The chapter was published on August 20, 1986 - I assume that it was probably very warm at that time☀️ (Shinobou also mentions the heat in the cafe) and that's why they decided to give Ataru a summery outfit. In the reboot, which happily jumps back and forth between 300 chapters, the seasonal aspect has probably been pushed into the background.

Five episodes left and they are still wasting time with side couples instead of giving some proper development to the main one. More than 40 episodes have passed and the relationship between Ataru and Lum has barely changed...

2/5 episode for me. Mainly because I don't care about Shinobu and Inaba's character ended up being more lame than I first thought.

I was just wondering when would Inaba-san make a return and it seems like for the test of courage and love Shinobu was the right partner to choose. Can they actually get together then? I hope so since his innocence blends well with her assertiveness. And that last scene with her smiling at the yellow flowers was so soothing. Charming.

Genuinely a top 5 Urusei Yatsura episode, production wise. Thought we’d get another silly gag humour episode, but Inaba and Shinobu bonding story and ultimate romance was really well done.

Yea, I want more Ataru and lum stuff, but I felt like Shinobu was one of the only people who didn’t have an established ship, so now she’s sorted and they told a really nice story in 24 minutes, I’m happy. Love that final scene btw and the symbolism of the flower blooming, not just Inaba passing his exam, but the two of them moving forward. Music choices were awesome too!!

Can’t believe we only have a few more UY episodes left man it seems like it was just yesterday we had 3 whole cours in front of us 😭

Inaba is such a wholesome guy. I could tell this course had major relationship strife as its goal when that kiss the mermaid to free Shinobu incident occurred. Looking back, it's funny how Ataru foiled a lot of its schemes by living up to his nature.

Ah finally a good meal after the bad ones in the last few episodes. Both Shinobu and Inaba really deserved their happy ending as a couple and it shows in this episode. While Atalum already acts like a married couple already during the whole episode, I think Inaba learn a lot through the silly trials to be a reliable guy for Shinobu. The ending was really sweet too. I really miss this kind of sweet romance stories from this show but somehow the remake thought it's better to introduce more nuisance characters because they are funny while we never really care about them in the slightest. Next week we got more Atalum episodes and I really hope they adapt the howling the the moon, T-shirt and the online shopping chapters in the next few weeks.

Lemme be clear that the last 4 episodes in that thread are just speculation on my part. There's a chance that it could be wrong. But I'm like 99% sure that that's what's going to happen. However, the amount of chapters adapted in each episode could be slightly different.

It's sad that it's ending so soon without even covering some extremely funny chapters and some chapters that I consider vital for the development of certain characters. I hope that they'll do the final arc justice at least. It's going to be very hard to top Movie 5 The Final Chapter since it was so amazingly made with lots of love and attention.

I wish they'll get whoever worked on the Lum Becomes a Cow episode as well as the Last Date episode in the Remake to work on the last few episodes. Those episodes genuinely looked amazing and it'd be a waste if the final episodes don't look as good as them.

It's because the TV series ended long before those chapters with Inaba came out. Even Inaba's first story was adapted in an OVA format. Tho I don't get why they couldn't choose the second story to be an OVA. Different priorities I guess.

This episode was really sweet and honestly made me cry a little, BUT... I can't help but feel like the love that went into this anime had suddenly disappeared..? Like, the animation has gradually gotten more stiff and straight up just bad, the pacing feels uncomfortable, and the characters just became lifeless, especially Lum and Ataru. I fell in love with this anime in the first place because it felt like I was watching a modern love letter to the old 80's anime, as if the creators were genuinely passionate about reviving an age-old classic and passing this charming story down to the newer generations, but now it just feels like lazy slop. Maybe somewhere along the line, they were rushed to get these episodes released? Because the last couple minutes of this episode looked really good. Hopefully the quality comes back for the last few episodes of this season because I've really been looking forward to it ever since S1 ended. Movie 5 is my favorite thing to have come out of this series, I'd be so disappointed if they didn't do it justice

Truthfully, while I think that Shinobu and Inaba are both fine characters, I think they're quite bland as a couple. Two Inaba stories in and the show still hasn't been able to make me become interested and or invested in their romance the way the show has managed to do with other romance-centric moments and stories.

It's an OK episode. The ending was a bit sweet, so it could've been worse.

A Shinobu centric-episode, with said girl going to the movies with both Ataru and Lum, she just so happens to see Inaba once again.

Inaba is back...though a request to become his girlfriend, though he'll take any girl, this clearly infuriates Shinobu, because this is a promotion test which he needs to get a certain flower from the space-time forest that he needs to pass from the Fortune Manufacturing Office. And that requiring them to pass through a huge door that screams Hell...it's more like a test of temptation of girls instead. And that doesn't stop after going through yet another door, which Inaba really could not get used to girls, much less Shinobu, who truly thought of him as a potential for being a partner.

Being in the space-time forest to find that flower, more temptations follow, but most certainly, Inaba wouldn't let his emotions get the best of him, after almost losing his life to get that flower, which Shinobu has to do that work in his stead. And that test is literally a romance test meant to test the rabbit's resolve when it comes to love, and having that flower wilted, they can't do much, only thereafter when a gift of flowers does the trick as fertilizer.

It's really nice seeing both Shinobu and Inaba stand out as the unlikely couple.

Helping a trapped bunnygirl before attaining heaven for yourself was the true path to heaven. He gave in to the siren, though despite Shinobu being able to rip through her hair.

Shinobu got her guy, good for her and the bunny guy. Starting bit was funny btw. Also you gotta save bunnygirl to go to heaven.

Just a few more episodes left, please give me more Lum and Ataru.

Inaba is such a sweetheart. After all those misunderstandings, he was still there to do it for Shinobu. I'm happy for Shinobu and Inaba in the end. They were able to get over every obstacle and pass the test.

Episode 18 is a film adaptation of chapters 346 to 348 of the manga, an exclusive remake. It promotes the ship of Shinobu and Inaba, a lot of fanservice, but I like that a lot of attention is paid to them.

Inaba is really cute, probably my favorite male character in this anime.

So Shinobu finally ended up with a guy who was introduced barely some five-six episodes ago? Well, suits her. Never cared about her, so anyways.

I saw an online post by Rumiko Takahashi saying she created the Inaba sections so Shinobu could end up with someone by the end, and it works because Inaba x Shinobu is a really wholesome pair.
