Keitarou should be more careful on who to trust, especially in this show. That strange boy did look kinda harmeless though.

Turns out, he attracts yet another dangerous entity in their little adventure. It was another thrilling episode but nothing too different from the others.

What they actual hell is up with this kid. This shit is disturbing more than scary..

Keitaro and his companions arrived at the Old Water Gate, a haunted location with an S-level danger rating. They encountered Nagiko Shami, a spiritual researcher. Though Keitaro initially harbored a sense of unease about Nagiko, they ultimately chose to venture into the area together. Amidst their exploration, Keitaro discovered a lone boy engrossed in sketching within his notebook.

Well, that was... eugh. Despite our efforts to save Granny, at least now her body is no longer being used for sinister purposes. It highlights how the peril of possession is far more severe than we anticipated or what one might expect from typical Japanese creepypastas.

The buildup for the antagonist was intense, only to be swiftly defeated by the weekly monster. Quite a letdown.

@IzanaSolos I won't spoil, but the boy is broken as hell. The replaced chose the wrong body, Nagiko is not that strong.

That may have been the nastiest and scariest episode of the series so far. Jesus lord that went crazy hard!

The piano music used in the episode was so damn good.

Man...and I'm having meatballs for dinner tonight too...damn

The story was creepy as hell, especially with that music.

The other group going to the Old I Watergate are a pair of spiritual practitioners: Oswald and Shami Nagiko, though they're spirits whom've taken on the shell of others' bodies. And true as told, they are there before the trio as well to investigate on the S-rank location as well. Yayoi is like a kid, fascinated by the supernatural to ask Shami about it, though she quickly hides her real intention. Indeed, the watergate is haunted, laden with spirits...albeit weak ones.

Seeing a bunch of kids having fun, Keitaro seeks out the one who didn't leave with them, and his dad is the only family he has, with a wife that constantly abuses him to the point of suicide. Everyting about the kid is explained thorugh drawings, and he is not just a child of abuse, but of murder as well, with the box of meatballs being his only lunch...or rather, that's of human remains of his dad being made into meatballs. It's so creepy that Keitaro's hands started to move on its own and explains of a family in crisis...as an illusion. The boy seems human but was in fact a spirit who's powerful enough to mask his appearance, and that Shami defended his mother from him, which Shami took his place and became the mother instead, of which there were many "mothers" before her.

The kid is this way because he wants pure, unadulterated revenge, and it's just a thriller meal from start to finish.

Nah man I need the author to be checked on because this shit is getting even more disturbing. The situation with the kid.. I knew it was going to be fucked up, but not THAT fucked up. Being abused by your step mother and forced to live on the balcony, then hearing your dad get murdered and butchered turned into literal meatballs.. then little buddy ate them holy shit no words. Anyone who puts a partner over their kids, keeping your kid outside because a woman doesn’t like them.. what a bum.

Feel bad for Nagiko damn. Didn’t even get a chance to get her body back. That spirit picked the wrong person to takeover and the wrong spirit to go after.

Episode flew by. Seems like we just got the reveal and then ED credits rolled. This one won’t be easy at all to deal with

Possessed Shami dying was for the best. They gave their full names except Yayoi, so if she had survived would be bad.

I wish I had the same calm as Yayoi explaining how the spirit was fooling them, and watching Shami getting killed. Maybe she knew that Shami was possessed.

They introduced Shami and now we know that one smooth criminal is named Oswald, and apparently they’re both possessed by ghosts and no one can tell because no one knows that ghosts also know the memories of the body they’re possessing, well ain’t that unfair lol. And I’m kinda upset about Shami, here I thought she’d be more important but she immediately got offed by the Watergate ghost, and no it’s not Richard Nixon lol. A shame too because I’m not normally into gilfs but she was doing something for me lol, but I have a feeling we might see the ghost that possessed her again at some point.

And damn man, this little kid ghost of the watergate is pretty fucked, at first I thought this was a slight step down but near the end it got pretty insane and I think based on the next time segment we might see this kid’s story in more detail, up close and personal so that oughta be fun lol. And let’s just say I’ll never see meatballs the same way ever again after this.

I think the use of an actual child voice actor made this much more unsettling. I'm so used to every kid in anime just being voiced by an adult.

I hope the kid's VA is doing okay, considering the content of this episode. If it creeps us out, I can't imagine how much it would disturb a kid.

This was all kinds of fucked up.

The kid seems to be an evil spirit, which comes as no surprise with whole meatball shit. Which means they should take action. They still have yet to react at all. Did Yayoi assume it to be an illusion for some reason or did she notice something off about the woman? Why are Keitarou (can understand this due to maybe some control of the evil spirit) and Eiko just sitting back.

Maybe it'll get clarified next episode, because as for now its rather weird to see this lack of response.

Damn, that was pretty disturbing. Honestly just as terrifying as the house hunting arc.

Keitarou nearly ended up getting swapped with a spirit, but old granny caught on and stopped that happening, just before getting flung across the water and hung.

The whole illusion thing was pretty strange honestly, I guess it just proves that some spirits are just that powerful, I definitely wouldn't want to meet one myself.

The episode ended on such a cliffhanger too, It's gonna be a difficult wait until next week honestly.

That old lady and that kid t the beginning, I can't wait to know more about them and what their deal is. They were possessed? By who? And wasn't that kid the same who appeared in that lake looking for the cursed arm?

As for our trio's adventure, this was the creepiest episode yet. Revenge spirits, mass murder and cannibalism, they weren't joking around here. I hie they keep this tone until the end of the season.

@otakuweek
I always watch this show in the dark so I have to wait until the evening to watch it. It definitely gives a scarier vibe that way too. I did that too last year with an anime called "Call of the Night" not because it was scary but because it mostly took place at night.

Regarding this episode, I think Yayoi knew that old lady was possessed and because of that she made no attempt to save her. I'm just wondering if that spirit is still around or not. Either way the gang has to deal with this revenge obsessed boy spirit.

This has to be the most op spirit they have encountered thus far.
He is rank S only because there is no tier higher than S .

Btw the studio rly is getting better and better at atmosphere building as they make more episodes.
The eerie silent , the background music, the voice acting all gve me a chill.
Also brutal incident about literal child is not something anime industry dare talk about that much.

Guess that's what the old lady gets for fucking with spirits. Gets her body hijacked and then said hijacker get her killed. I'd assume the ladies own spirit wasn't in the body when it was destroyed and is still suffering in that last spot she went to.

Well she's clearly a victim of being swapped, so what's likely to happen especially with her "I just got this body" comment, is that she's just going to be released as a spirit and will likely fight as one.

Yeah, it's something that I've felt before. I want him to interject before the story is complete, to try and offer him food or something if he thinks he's a starving abused kid, etc.

"Call of the Night" was gorgeous, the music was perfect for the atmosphere too. I did the same thing with it, wait until it's dark and throw it up for those chill late night vibes.

We saw at least Keitaro had some sort of feeling about her. Either way we need at least something to keep things balanced so that we can know the main cast is still the main cast in the future, especially with them having the memories of the person. (We know Keitaro is Keitaro but damn do I not like it technically being possible that he was swapped before and never got back).
