Ranpo definitely feels out like a breakout star of this season so far, not just for his talent but also personality on stage too. That stage played look like a work of art performed by him.

I do hope the rest of the main cast shows up again though. So far, it's mainly been Ranpo and Yukichi carrying this season.

Hold on a second here ... so basically, "I don't need to change anything about me, even if its something bad ... its all the worlds fault, that's what wrong". Man, the last thing i was expecting from the second episode of the fourth season is the adaptation of the well known meme.

A bit cringe.

I mean, he's literally a core member of the manga, so better buckle up. Not that you dont know it aleady, this is fourth season already.

If you mean Ranpo… that’s very mean but it will be in the present time again starting next ep or maybe they’ll split it like first half Ln second half back to manga

Gotta say, I really loved the transition from black and white to color again after Ranpo's little "revelation". Fukuzawa in that moment pretty much saved him from having a mental breakdown. Looks like next episode might be the finale, or at least I hope it is. I'm still worried how this will impact the DOA arc.

Thought that the monochrome style was an artistic choice but to see it was due to Ranpo's perspective was an interesting twist.

So this is how he started to think that he was a Gifted instead having a natural talent for deduction. It works out better for him this way though.

Seems like the policeman was behind everything?

So the background being black and white was a part of Ranpo's perception. The moment Fukuzawa convinced him about his "specialty", Ranpo got into that self we know of. Also guess that's where he started thinking himself as an ability user.

The policeman was acting kinda sus this whole time, no wonder those last few minutes just confirmed the obvious.

I just thought about this... if Ranpo was real he basically is Autistic, really interested in the fact but struggles with common communication with people.

That was quite an entertaining episode, and I loved when the black and white faded back into colour when Rampo put on his glasses. For him, meeting Fukuzawa was probably the best thing that happened to him, because someone could acknowledge his powers as something that makes him stand out from other people, and labelling it a "gift" makes him feel better about himself. If it wasn't obvious already, the policeman at the end seemed like the mastermind, but I'm sure this is all going along to Rampo's plan.

ok episode 1 being from ranpo’s perspective hence the lack of colouring was actually a rlly cool twist. it’s a really good season so far, just hoping ranpo can discover humility within the next episode lol.. but it’s surprisingly funny to watch him do that somehow

When the color appeared through Ranpo's eyes, what a poetic cinema moment.

Also looks we have the real threat driving the police car with Ranpo in the backseat which is SPICY!

The ending was so unexpected (for me, as I haven't read the light novel) and I love it so much!!! The actor's motive wasn't appealing to me, but I find it quite interesting that actor himself is a part of somebody else's plan!! Can't wait for next episode~~

This is similar to the starts of S2 and S3 with backstories so i would expect the latter for sure.

Loved how they portrayed the shift from black and white to actual color from Ranpo's perspective.

There's that deductive prowess that we've become familiar with by now, but it looks like the real mystery hasn't been solved just yet. I had my suspicions about that cop from the beginning and it looks like my gut feeling was right.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

Such a good episode.... the color changing scene when Ranpo got the glasses was beautiful.... So the security police is the culprit..?!

But i really have issues with showing the flashback scenes.... it is not continuous with the previous seasons.... they do this all the time unfortunately

And here I thought we are seeing the world through Fukuzawa's eye but no, it's Ranpo.
with the help of the glasses, and some placebo, he was able to realize that he is "special" and 'everyone is a baby'.

I got chills throughout, was smiling and grinning, to be able to see Ranpo in action again is amazing. One of my favorite character of all time

Ranpo back then sure was rather impatient. Talented and normal are two sides of the same coin. What a way to increase Ranpo's confidence though. Such a dramatic assassination though. Ranpo would be more believable without the long speeches thats for sure. So the villain's main motivation was to pursue the acting out of a death scene huh. Though this case is solved looks like the prez would have his hands full in training Ranpo. The manner of the stagewrights death was damm brutal. Looks like next we have a closed room mystery on our hands.

Another look at Ranpo's past when he discovered his abilities and even got the glasses from Fukuzawa.

The stage play that Ranpo performed was exceptional, like a true detective, sadly the writer got killed.

dam....I don't think many have considered (or at least that I have heard) that Ranpo could actually have autism. It does make sense, due to his unique perspectives on puzzling senerios, people, and just the world in itself. Of course, it could have been that Ranpo was just written as we know: a kid with brilliant deduction skills. But now, I can't help but wonder if he really has some type of disorder (autism) or some sort of bizarre case.

As usual the flashback arcs in BSD are better than the main story! This rampo arc has been so cool. Admittedly I didn’t care too much for him during the other seasons but this has really opened my eyes to how cool a character he is. Great episode. Loved how the world went to colour once he got the glasses too

Seems like the police are actually behind everything? Next week gonna be fun.

Was Ranpo saying a little cringy nonsense about the world? Yes. His ideology had a 180° turn, with the clear perspective the glasses gave him. Was he a little too egoistic? In my opinion, yes. I will give that to him though since; 1. He is a really good detective - and way smarter than a average person 2. He is still a kid, who misunderstood the world from the beginning

Overall I love the play and its visuals in the theatre. If I went to a play and the lead actor faked death like that I would be shocked like that majority of the audience. I am really curious about the intensions behind the murder of the script writer and the old man with the cane who happens to make a very rare appearance and who is really hard to catch.

I also want to believe the reason Ranpo said he will go to the police station without Yukichi is because he realised there is more to this case but at the same time I don’t know if it is even possible to guess something like that since Ranpo doesn’t know about the death of the script writer.

Its just feels like a murder mystery in a show that I like watching so no complaints here :)

Ranpo solves yet another case, but it seems like he'll have to solve another one based on the cliffhanger

I always love the Ranpo's episodes in each BSD season, can't wait for the next episode!

a better message might have been that he's also an idiot, just at different things, but whatever i think he gets the gist later on. i also kind of figured that cop was shady from the beginning but had no idea it would shake out like that. i like ranpo (present) but ranpo (past) is all kinds of obnoxious. what's coming next might be a slice of humble pie for him.

It's kinda sad that the only way Ranpo can rationalize that he's actually talented is by thinking it's because of a magical random happenstance instead of him just naturally being intelligent. But for once he feels proud instead of being an outcast so how can I complain.

I really loved how it took a turn at the end with the actual murder and what I suppose is Rampo's kidnapping. It got more interesting and I can't wait to see what they're after kidnapping the kid. I'm not entirely sure if the "unconscious" man they were talking about is the actual murderer, but we'll see. Great episode.
