Damn, this is the most emotional I've seen Kotonoha this season but luckily, she has Ayame for comfort.

Tbh, she's probably the sweetest person in the show and deserves all the happiness she could get. Props to the VA to bringing out her personality but what an ending.

What an episode.

This week, we got really, really gay episode. Truly, the "I love you" combo has a lot of meanings and interpretations. But, i particularly was fond of the part where they were lumping homosexuals and people who like 2D girls and anime figurines into one bag, big fan of that analogy, lol. But good on Ibarada, marking her territory :)

But more importantly, Kanade needs to stop being such a drama queen, just let the teacher teach you math, and bang the other dude ... duh. And call the ambulance for the teacher too.

Torasuke, you still have us, your 2D lover followers. hahahah...
Sometimes, being yourself or being different from other people is not that bad. Kanade doesn't need to stay 'normal' the whole time.

No matter how perfect you are at something there's always an inverse of that in another subject matter. Reunions with classmates always have pitfalls thats for sure. Still to think Arika and Kosuke would end up partnering up though. Rare indeed to see Ena show a cold side to others but it shows how protective she is of Kosuke. Kanade's shame moment really was an unfortunate one thats for sure. Really feel for Kanade though. All she wants is something that any girl wants yet its something that she has so much trouble attaining.

Loved the k-drama segment more than the first one, and thankfully sensei wasn't a complete scumbag, atleast didn't accept her proposal that time. But damn those were some insane reflexes, can see why she wants to live "normally".

The yuri bait was STRONG with himuro and Kanade and I LOVED it. Great episode. Got the wheels rolling with Ebarada and Kosuke as well as Kanade’s development. I knew things had to fail with she and her sensei for her to grow, but I wasn’t expecting her to kill the dude lmaoo.

Some harsh but true words from Yukimura there at the end, Kanade needed to hear that.

I liked it because the episode shows Ayame worried about Kanade because she ended the date too soon because she saw her old teacher who did a martial arts move and threw him in the floor

Himuro and Yukimura's relationship hit by bumps due to using Kanade as a variable tool for their experiment, it's just not right to intrude to the point where it interferes with her private life.

Too bad for Yamamoto, all she ever cared was her otakudom, and what in the world that Torasuke feels dejected after coming out of that experiment with his idol doll Aika...creepy. Hmm, bisexual and heterosexual people defo are minorities (according to the Kinsey Scale), and both Yamamoto and Torasuke having found a reason to label the same, it's a blessing. Yamamoto with her love for Fullmetal Alchemist's Edward and some other character, she's a certified femme fatale of culture. But when it comes to winning Torasuke's heart, Ibarada will present a tough challenge to her.

Eh? Himuro's confession to Kanade, it's the Zick Rubin's Love and Like Scale that was somehow misconstrued for outrageous feelings gone haywire for Himuro to Kanade, just for worries that her love will fail. And Yukimura being Yukimura, he has no tact at all to consider Kanade's feelings. And for someone whom's trained in martial arts for self-defense and liking her homeroom teacher, only to have it turned down in exchange for private studies to spend time with him, IMO it's a fair exchange that's all for love, even if it's wrong by society's sight...except that her ingrained martial arts spoiled that relationship by mere abnormal instinct.

Kanade's definition of "normal"...yeah, it's more a creed than something of normalcy, too boistered and mixed up with society's standards. And Yukimura isn't wrong of going too far to lecture her, Kanade definitely needs a wake-up call for both him and Himuro to understand her from the depths of her heart.

Kanade sure wrecks this episode hard, and I MEAN, HARD.

In Season 1 Episode 7, Kanade did a grapple throw on Yukimura while she was drunk. I thought it was funny then but this episode reveals that it was an instinctive reaction from her martial arts training.

Also, I love that Edward and Eyes cameo.

Weakest episode by far for both series.

46% is worryingly low.

Kanade, and especially her story, made this episode watchable.

Kanade's obsession with being normal really cuts into how Japanese society expects everyone to be the same and not stand out. The problem is everyone is born to be different and if you spend your entire life trying to fit in you'll never be happy.

There is no such thing as being normal because the idea of normal is based on one's perspective depending on where you are.

I definitely support Kosuke and Yamamoto in their efforts to find people that love 2D lol, and damn Ibarada came right out and said if you mess Kosuke you’re getting these hands, at least I’d like to see that lol, but yeah hopefully she doesn’t pull anything like she did in Season 1. Also interesting how they showed sexuality on a spectrum here, it makes sense to see in an anime about researching love.

The true highlight was the Kanade backstory tho, of all the things to turn her relationship with her teacher sour it was her martial arts skills lol, straight up shoulder threw the man on concrete, it’s funny but definitely a very serious situation. And damn, after she poured her thoughts about being normal out to Yukimura I really felt for her, I like how straightforward Yukimura was about it but it makes me hurt for my girl Kanade, I hope she figures things out next week.

Yukimura with some though love, he appreciates and respects Kanade as much as Himuro, with her flashback I was sure it was going to go the sexual assault route but thankfully it wasn't the case, still pretty traumatic to almost kill someone in a second.

Pretty MEH episode for me, mostly because Kanade is my LEAST favorite character in the whole series, plus being Normal is overrated and I hate that, where I have to force myself to become something im not.

Also I blame her stupid Dojo Master, because it sounds like he didn't discipline her on self-control or being aware of her surroundings.

Also the MVP is Shinya with him giving Kanade some good tough love while being very blunt and logical with his methods.

The main reason why I Kanade is my least favorite, because she's very boring and Drama ALWAYS happens when she's involved in things.

What is "normal"? this is a very interesting question... our society has different ways of saying what is normal and what is not... but at the end of the day, you dont need to be too conscious especially in dating

I love how Ibarada knew exactly how to cheer Kouske up. It's such a stupid thing obviously but it was very wholesome. Kanade's backstory was kind of a meme. I just feel bad for the teacher. Kanade should realize that their relationship could never work. Even just hanging out could be seen as going too far. Definitely feels like we're making commentary and the Japanese blend into society/don't be a burden to others thing.

I like Kanade but she's got some serious growth to do, including realizing how unhealthy her fixation on her teacher was. Throwing him saved her from ruining both of their lives, actually. And working hard to be "normal" to the extent that you crush your own feelings and identity isn't a good way to live. Fitting in is one thing, but that's not really what she's doing, she's deliberately using a pursuit of "normalcy" to squash herself, a self-directed torture she thinks she deserves. it's pretty sad, and I can understand why some people have zero patience for it.

I totally loved this episode and kanade's backstory. I totally belived kande got trauma because people found out about her liking to her sensei and weirded about it and the flashback in the previous episode also suggest she not normal that what i was thinking. Nailed it when I found out that it was because she beat out of him. Lol it was funny

Doing research on those who love 2D girls more than 3D ones. This anime knows its audience well. Ibarada straight up threating the manga artist, good; never cared for her as a character. She's too self-inserty for my taste.

Glad Kanade's getting some more love this season, she deserves it. More backstory, more feelings, more of her getting challenged on being the normal character surrounded by a bunch of eccentric science loving weirdos.

Isn't Yukimura a bit harsh to Kanade...
What a Kanade rant! not the same level rant compared to Hatoko (from Ino Battle wa Nichijo-kei no Naka de)
oh! Ena-chan was a bit protective to Kosuke and a bit hostile to the otaku girl Arika!
5/5.
but yeah it was a bit hilarious about sensei tripping from a rock and then Kanade instinctively pulled a self-defence move! quite traumatizing for sensei! BWAHAHAH!

I loved so much Kanade and Yukimura's exchange, I forgot the rest of the episode. I totally relate with the depressive "normality" or "normal expectations" from society, (even though I'm living in one the most free country of the world).

Seems like a common theme for japanese anime; after Yoshino from Sakura Quest and Chika from Love Live Sunshine, that's the third girl I see striving for normality, like some kind of obsession. And I love them all !

kinsey was a fraud and a molester. no one should take any of his crap seriously. also theres two reasons more younger people identify as non-hetero. significantly, it's because of the massive amount of lgbt propaganda forced upon them. secondly, it's because more feel comfortable saying it. but i cannot take any of this literature seriously because it's fundamentally got bad methodology and is based on social perceptions and propaganda.
as to the subject of normality i guess it comes down to living within a spectrum that does not fall into a pathology or harmful to the self. i suppose in that case by repressing herself and not adapting helpfully she's become ironically abnormal. her shame and regret is understandable but excessive and pathological. martial arts also teaches you discernment in how and when to act. she should focus on that and not get caught up because it seems she missed that lesson and instead perhaps the grandpa was unintentionally harmful. she should go talk to him and then honestly apologize to her sensei. it would be a load off her back.

If Yamamoto uses her manga as the means of distribution for the "Do you like 2D girls?" poll, that would be a bad case of selection bias. Of course manga readers are going to like 2D girls. But maybe Ibarada suggested this, expecting the selection bias to give Kosuke more encouraging results.

Man, this season has been phenomenal development. Yukimura can be annoying abrasive at times but he was perfect challenging Kanade and her worldview. It was an interesting contrast with Himuro going the opposite direction and professing her love just before.
This is on top of developing Kosuke and Ena’s relationship as well, hopefully prying the latter’s shell until she’s more honest with her own feelings. I wasn’t crazy about the show before but I’m sincerely glad it got a sequel to realize it’s full potential.

This is probably the first time I've ever seen a Spiral reference, amazing. A series which truly doesn't get enough attention.

Yamamoto is still pretty much the worst, but I do feel somewhat bad for her about her friends hassling her about being an otaku.

Kanade's situation is finally fully revealed, and it's a bit underwhelming. I guess her slamming the teacher into the pavement was the end of any potential that relationship might've had? But it already seemed like the teacher wasn't going to indulge her romantic fantasy regardless. Unless there is more to that story, it just seems like she is making a big deal out of nothing.

That being said, I do agree with Yukimura. Kanade does seem to have an obsession with the concept of "normal." Now that she's come out and said she's actively working towards fitting into the status quo, I think I might hate her. People who limit themselves for the sake of appearance just piss me off more than anything.

Yeah, Kanade's situation here feels very much like she's making a big deal out of nothing. Or, rather, that she's making a big deal out of the wrong thing: her issue isn't her martial arts prowess, but that she fell in love with her teacher to begin with. That's the thing that really deviates from the norm here, and if she's going to obsess about being normal all of a sudden (never mind the fact that she's part of a lab of highly eccentric scientists) then that's what she should be worrying about rather than having some self-defence skills (and really, the issue there is that her grandfather didn't teach her restraint).

This arc is already mediocre and I hope it doesn't go on for more than another episode or so: Kanade only works when she's on the sidelines reacting to the shenanigans around her, not when she's the dramatic core of what's going on. And especially not when the drama is for such dumb, contrived reasons.
