The following seven Virtues are considered the major ones (Cardinal Virtues). Lesser virtues such as Humility, Chastity, Honesty, Forgiveness or Fidelity are natural extensions of one or two of those major virtues.
These virtues are deeply interconnected:
- Prudentia is considered the mother of all virtues, for without it, there is no fairness, resilience, or temperance.
- Iustitia ensures the application of prudence in a just manner, while Fortitudo and Temperantia provide the strength and balance necessary for a just life.
- Caritas (Charity), Fides (Faith), and Spes (Hope) are often seen as divine gifts in religious traditions, guiding us toward compassion, resilience, and love. Yet, these virtues are universally valued, transcending religious lines. Whether regarded as divine gifts or essential human qualities, they inspire us to live with empathy, hope for a better future, and kindness toward others.
We all excel in some virtues more than others. It’s not about perfection, but about striving to grow. Perhaps you have a strong sense of Iustitia and Caritas, defending the weak and helping the poor beyond the law. Or maybe you embody Fortitudo, inspiring Spes in everyone’s life. If someone claims to lack a dominant virtue, it might signal a deeper absence of virtues altogether.

The seven virtues stand in contrast to the seven deadly sins: Sloth, Greed & Lust, Wrath, Gluttony, Envy, Pride, and Despair.
Prudentia (Prudence) Cardinal Virtue. Prudentia governs decision-making. She allows individuals to discern the right course of action in every situation, balancing thought with action. Prudence is essential for achieving long-term goals and a fullfilled life.
She looks at you, sharp and observant, considering the consequences of your decision. She may appear calm, but she weighs each word and step before taking it. In a world full of chaos, she stands as the steady hand, offering guidance with a gentle but firm touch.
Iustitia (Justice) Cardinal Virtue. Iustitia governs fairness and righteousness. She is concerned with giving everyone their due and ensuring equality. In a world of imbalance and strife, justice is the force that restores equilibrium.
Her presence is commanding yet not forceful. She is unwavering in her sense of right and wrong, and her eyes see through deception. She is a protector of the weak and a fair judge, always striving to make sure the scales of life remain level.
Fortitudo (Fortitude, Courage) Cardinal Virtue. Fortitudo is the courage to endure hardships and persevere through challenges. It is not only about physical strength, but emotional and mental resilience in the face of adversity. Those with fortitude find the strength to stand firm when everything else seems to crumble.
She glances at you, firm and resolute. Despite the trials she has faced, her resolve remains unshaken; her heart is a fortress. Her eyes, filled with the weight of experience, burn with a fierce determination to face whatever may come. Even in the toughest moments, she sits with her arms firm, undaunted and ready to spring up into action.
Temperantia (Temperance, Moderation) Cardinal Virtue. Temperantia knows all about moderation, self-control, and balance. Resist excess and find harmony in all things. She prevents us from being ruled by our impulses and desires, fostering a sense of peace and balance in our lives.
She is calm and graceful, enjoying her tea break. In her presence, there’s a sense of tranquility, as though she has mastered the art of finding peace amidst the storm. She embodies restraint, choosing her actions carefully to ensure harmony.
Caritas – (Charity, Love) Theological Virtue ("Gift from God"). Caritas focuses on selflessness and compassion. Give without expecting anything in return, care for others deeply, and act with kindness and empathy. Charity is about recognizing the humanity in others and responding with love.
She is the heart of any room, her kindness overflowing in every gesture. She is warm, her voice is soft, making others feel seen and cared for. She is always giving, whether through a listening ear or an open hand, and her love never asks for anything in return. Her compassion inspires others to do the same, making the world a little brighter through simple acts of kindness.
Fides (Faith) Theological Virtue ("Gift from God"). Faith is the virtue of trust and belief, often tied to spiritual conviction. It is the strength to believe in something greater, whether that be a higher power, a vision of the future, or the goodness in others. Faith provides guidance and direction, even in the absence of certainty.
There is a sense of inner belief that radiates outward. She walks through the world with the confidence that things will be okay, even when the path is unclear. There’s a soft warmth about her, like the gentle embrace of a belief that everything has a purpose. She inspires others to believe in themselves and the possibilities ahead.
Spes (Hope) Theological Virtue ("Gift from God"). Hope is the virtue that keeps us moving forward, even in the darkest times. It is the belief that better things are ahead, that the struggles of today will lead to a brighter tomorrow. Hope is the spark that fuels perseverance and encourages us to keep striving.
She smiles cheerfully at you, one of bright optimism, a beacon of light in even the toughest of times. Her eyes hold the promise of a better tomorrow, and her presence fills the room with a sense of possibility. She carries with her a star-shaped flowers bouquet, a symbol of the belief that no matter how difficult the journey, there’s always something worth reaching for. Through her, others find the courage to hope again.
The Nine Archangels ~~Waifu Version~~
The following nine Archangels list is a syncretism of the three main Abrahamic faiths.
Don't take it too seriously, even if you're not fond of blending different religions.
Michael, Gabriel and Raphael are universally recognised in Christianity, Judaism, and Islam.
Uriel, Raguel, Sariel and Remiel despite their popularity in certain religious or mystical traditions, are not officially recognized by major religions such as Catholicism, Orthodoxy, Anglicanism, Judaism, or Islam.
Raphael/Israfil, despite sharing qualities across Christian and Islamic traditions, is traditionally but not officially recognized as the same archangel.
Azrael is known in Islam and Jewish mysticism as the Angel of Death and Transformation.
Kabbalah (esoteric Judaism) has many more lesser-known archangel names, if you're feeling adventurous.
Prayers are always interceding and ultimately should brought you to God. Invoking the higher order Virtues can also help clarify -for yourself- what you are seeking for.

𝔓𝔦𝔩𝔩𝔞𝔯𝔰 𝔬𝔣 ℌ𝔢𝔞𝔳𝔢𝔫
Archangel Michael, the Princess of Heaven, is the warrior of divine justice and the protector of souls. She stands against the forces of evil, guiding those who battle against temptation and evil. Michael is the supreme warrior angel, wielding her sword in defense of righteousness!
"Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back."
(Revelation 12:7)
You can intercede/pray to Michael if you need strength, protection, or courage to stand against evil or inner battles.
Archangel Gabriel carries the will of the Creator across realms. As the herald of important divine announcements, she delivers messages of both hope and warning. Annunciation of the birth of Christ, or being the Angel of Revelation, Gabriel’s presence is pivotal in sacred events across many faiths.
"The angel said to him, 'I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to tell you this good news.'"
(Luke 1:19)
You can intercede/pray to Gabriel if you need clarity, divine messages, help with faith, communication, or creative inspiration.
Archangel Raphael is known for her role in guiding and healing the faithful.
"I am Raphael, one of the seven angels who stand ready and enter before the glory of the Lord."

You can intercede/pray to Raphael if you seek healing (physical, emotional, spiritual), guidance on a journey, or renewal of the heart.
𝔈𝔶𝔢𝔰 𝔬𝔣 𝔱𝔥𝔢 𝔗𝔥𝔯𝔬𝔫𝔢
Uriel, the Light of God, illuminates the path of understanding and wisdom.
Often depicted as the one who brings enlightenment to those seeking truth, her role in apocryphal texts speaks to her importance in guiding people towards divine knowledge and revelation.
"Then the angel that had been sent to me, whose name was Uriel, answered..."
(2 Esdras 4:1-2)
You can intercede/pray to Uriel if you seek wisdom, illumination, insight, or help discerning truth from deception.
Raguel, Archangel of Justice, is known for her role in maintaining harmony in the heavenly realms.
Though not universally recognized across all traditions, Raguel’s association with justice, reconciliation, and fairness makes her a powerful symbol of divine order. She carries out divine will and order. Alongside with Michael, she is known for enacting God's Will on the fall of the 200 Watchers, corrupted celestial beings now known as Fallen Angels.

You can intercede/pray to Raguel if you seek justice, harmony in relationships, reconciliation, or resolution to conflicts.
Sariel, Archangel of Guidance, is often recognized as an angel of guidance.
Sariel is sometimes named as an angel who is responsible for overseeing the actions of humans, helping to shape the moral compass of the soul.
Her moon symbol stems from the Fallen Angel counterpart sharing her name.
"Sariel, one of the holy angels, who is set over the spirits who sin in the spirit."

You can intercede/pray to Sariel if you need truth, accountability, or inner balance,
especially when dealing with conscience or cycles of error.
𝔐𝔢𝔰𝔰𝔢𝔫𝔤𝔢𝔯𝔰 𝔬𝔣 𝔱𝔥𝔢 𝔈𝔫𝔡
Remiel, the Mercy of God, is an Archangel of hope and resurrection.
Her role as a guide for souls in the afterlife and a helper in moments of distress make her a powerful figure for comfort and encouragement.

You can intercede/pray to Remiel if you seek hope, restoration, or help with guidance after loss, and want support in rediscovering your spiritual path.
Israfil, the Trumpeter, is recognized in Islamic traditions as the angel who will blow the trumpet to announce the End of Times.
"And the trumpet will be blown, and whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth will fall dead, except whom Allah wills."
(Quran 39:68)
You can intercede/pray to Israfil if you need help with life transitions, awakening to purpose, or sensing divine timing and spiritual renewal.
Azrael, the Archangel of Death, is tasked with guiding souls from life to the afterlife.
Though often associated with death, Azrael’s role in many traditions is also about transformation and transition, helping souls move from one realm to the next.
She is a compassionate guide through the process of death or transformation.
You can intercede/pray to Azrael if you're facing grief, letting go, or need help with transformation, closure, or guiding others through loss.
Eight famous Angels ~~Waifu Version~~
Samael - "Accusator" - Angel of Judgement, Vengeance and Mercy
Samael is one of the most enigmatic and misunderstood figures among angels. Often seen as a severe archangel, or even a fallen one, Samael's true nature is far more complex. She does not rebel against God or stray from divine will—rather, she plays the essential role of revealing truth. With unwavering clarity, she points out your flaws and sins, but this is not out of malice—rather, it is out of love, to help you grow and transform.
You should not pray through Samael. You may invoke divine reckoning at best, and moral or spiritual corruption at worst.
As an angel of death, Samael embodies the cold justice of God (Iustitia without Caritas), whereas Azrael brings gentle guidance (Faith and Hope) through the process of Transformation.
If you're seeking strength and truth in your prayer to God, interceding with Michael, Raguel, or Chamael would be more fitting, as they embody strength. For truth-seeking, you may turn to Phanuel, Uriel, or Sariel, whose roles align more closely with the pursuit of clarity or divine wisdom.
I'd rather think of Samael as a cute angel girl than a corrupted being tied to Satan. Still, even I know when to keep my distance...
Chamael - "Seeker of God" - Angel of Strength, Courage and Protection
Chamael is often seen as an angel of divine love, healing, and protection. She blends strength with compassion, offering a presence that is neither as intense and battle-hardened as Michael, nor as purely gentle and emotionally attuned as Anael. Instead, Chamael stands as a graceful balance between the two—defending and healing, protecting and restoring, all while offering quiet comfort and peace. Picture her as a white-clad Templar: shielding your spirit with both nurturing care and unwavering strength.
Anael - Angel of Love, Romance and Harmony
Gentle guardian of affection and connection, Anael guides the heart with tenderness. She inspires love that is sincere, nurturing, and faithful—a quiet whisper leading you back to warmth.
Zadkiel - Angel of Mercy, Compassion and Forgiveness
With arms wide open, Zadkiel offers forgiveness to the wounded and grace to the repentant. She carries the strength to let go, reminding us that mercy is not weakness, but divine courage.
Barachiel - Angel of Blessings, Protection and Divine Grace
