The Ninth Jedi. It’s interesting. Aside from being cool eye-candy I didn’t really like this one. Though it’s far from bad. I’m not too into Star Wars lore outside of the movies, but the clear light saber was pretty neat. I didn’t know they looked like that, unless that’s a new thing that’s solely for this episode and doesn’t have any relevance to the actual lore. :/

This episode was my favorite so far. It's normal length runtime (the longest so far of these episodes) gave needed depth to the story and it both worked as a self contained story and as a prequel to a larger narrative. Out of all of the episodes so far, this had the most potential of being a normal 12 episode series and yet it still fit into a single episode. It was brilliantly done. The whole time I was wondering who the traitor was when I really should have been wondering who wasn't the traitor.

The only gripe I had was the English voice Actor for Ethan, who sounded like he had never acted in his life. But since he wasn't the main lead, it wasn't that big of a deal. While this didn't have a unique style or anything, it was just a competent story, directed by a competent studio with a competent runtime.

Opening narration really should've been done in the traditional star wars text crawl IMO. Like if you're gonna open a star wars thing with an info dump, there's already an established formula for doing that.

Other than that, this episode has definitely felt the most Star Wars to me so far. The sound design is spot on. And they even did a horizontal wipe scene transition LMAO.

The droids in this episode are perfect and I love them. Especially four-nines

Production I.G delivered as expected, fantastic studio. A nice combination of high quality and great duration, this particular episode truly felt 'complete' and yet, like Otaku_Joe described, it has immense potential to be turned into a full project.

Also Akio Ōtsuka and Kazuya Nakai! 😍

Kara story makes more sense than Rey story. Kara have/had a father and the marquis, that trained her to become a Jedi, so is normal she be good fighting.

The concept of the lightsaber is cool being colorless, and that lightsaber that was in the box what a wonderful design.

Production I.G is at the top for now, basically a whole anime episode while the other were shorts. I would watching the series with that story.

And almost forgot. thank you Production I.G for reviving the trebuchet meme.

Best episode so far and my favorite! This could be expanded more to be a separate series, atleast wish to see a follow up part. Good plot twist as well. Kara did a more epic speeder chase from ROTJ I guess. Windu's purple saber! This reminded me why Ronin didn't have a purple one too.

I agree, I loved this ep so much. I also liked how i felt there were sith amongst the people not everyone minus 1. i liked the camera angle just moves around everyone and they just turn on the sabers and they are red

Arguably the best episode yet. It felt like the complete package. Animation was great, the art style was attractive, the action was sweet, and the story was really interesting. I really liked how there was a twist at the end there.

Kara was cute and endearing, not to mention pretty damn slick with that lightsaber. I loved seeing the color go from that vomit brownish green to the iconic green. Her relationship with her father was very sweet as well.

It was also a really cool detail that the one alien who infiltrated the Sith had a purple lightsaber, meaning he is incredibly strong but has some dark side tendencies, just like Mace Windu.

This is another one that I'd really like to see turn into a series.

Pretty good episode. Was nice to have a full length episode as most have been quite short. I’m still gonna have to say 1 or 3 was my favourite. But the story for this one was really good, the characters were pretty solid too. It was so nice to see Zoros va too and the plot twist at the end was awesome

This felt like a proper episode/story and not a short one, and i don't think it was only because of length. Really like this one, nice lightsaber fights with the assumption that the sith acolytes should be considered complete noobs.

This episode was lit, Production IG doesn't miss. The action was great and exciting, and this episode felt like it was the premiere of an actual full-length series. It probably won't happen, but it would be amazing to see this particular episode be expanded upon as a full anime series.

I feel like this is a really good first episode for a series and a really average short story.
and I think I can say that for a lot of these shorts. They didn't really focus on crafting a satisfying story, and more felt like pilots for extended series.

Not only that but you also should make your light sabre yourself...and does forging a crystal even makes sense? (Yeah, metals are form of a crystal but still...)

Should you make a lightsaber yourself? Well, thats more a tradition than anything else. In a post-Jedi order world I dont see why it'd be necessary, seems like things are pretty urgent. As for forging the crystal, I think its fair to give that some leeway because its not canon anyway there is some precedent for tuning a kyber crystal without the Force, in the novel Catalyst, but the techniques involved werent really elaborated on. And this episode is so balls-to-the-walls in how it reimagines lightsaber functionality that, eh, might as well let them tune a kyber by forging it I guess. It doesnt make sense in the real world as far as I know but its a magic crystal anyway

Since anybody can do it (usually padawan teens), I guess it's not a very complicated technical process, you only need the crystal which it's hard to find.
But here it must to be forged by the "legendary katana master" trope.

They were all called together to meet in a cave? *INVINCIBLE flashbacks* What's funny is that what follows is more or less what happens in invincible lol

Best part is the couple seconds of the old droid just chilling in the ship, watching the fight and sipping his motor oil tea

I have a feeling this is the one that is going to feel the most star wars-y out of all of them. I like how it ends with the image of a lightsaber. But unfortunately I don't think I could care less about continuing the story. It's fine, but I won't give it the "I'd like to see a movie" badge. 3/10

Edit: Don't know if this was ever mentioned in star wars lore before, but I think having the kyber crystals react to the force and becoming red to show one's strength in the dark side is a really cool touch. It helps explain why all the Sith have always had red lightsabers. It's a way cooler explanation rather than that they all just decided to be matchy matchy. I'll give it a 3.5/10 just for that I guess.

In the Star Wars main universe the colour of the blade depends solely on the crystal used in it - nothing to do with the Force alignment of the user. Sith or Dark Force acolyte blades are red because artificially made crystals are used. And I guess they can use normal crystals too but it's more of a "intimidation" than "matchy matchy".

I dont really think this is the place to have a huge lore dump about how kyber crystals work, but this episode is *super* not how they work, even if it is a cool concept. To quote the head of the Lucasfilm Story Group (ie the guy whose job it is to keep Star Wars storytelling consistent), "Lightsabers are not mood rings". But I think its fine for something like this to be an exploration of "but what if they *were* mood rings though"

This is old EU lore. In the new canon, kyber crystals have to be tuned through the force (and only kyber crystals can be used for lightsabers now), but because the crystals are inherently light-side, they resist being tuned by a dark-side user. So a dark-side user has to tune them against their will, which causes them to "bleed", and become red.

As far as I know only artificial kyber crystals need tuning, natural don't...and yes Dark Force tuning makes them red...but also orange and magenta if Wookiepedia is to be trusted.

You sure you're not in the "Legends" section of wookieepedia there? Here's the relevant paragraph from the canon page

Kyber crystals were inherently attuned to the light side of the Force, and resisted any effort by dark-side practitioners to use them in lightsabers, with one crystal in particular (the green crystal within Jedi Master Kirak Infil'a's lightsaber) subjecting Darth Vader to intense visions that almost drove him insane.[18] To this end, a Sith or other dark-sider could use a kyber crystal only by using the Force to dominate the crystal, bending it to their will. This process caused the crystal to "bleed," as if it were a living organism, resulting in the distinctive red or crimson-bladed lightsabers synonymous with the Sith.

Yep, It turned up that I did exactly that. The re-canonisation process is highly disorienting to me. Some things look the same on the surface but in their core are different...

That plot twist. I got such goosebumps when the "jedi" turned on their lightsabers and all of them turned out to be red.
Timeline of this short is never really confirmed. This might as well be Old Republic. And it feels like thats what production IG was going for but they werent allowed to confirm this so they just hinted at this. Juno was badass. Liked how neither Kara nor Ethan actually won any fights, they just successfuly defended themselves. Another cool short story that could have been its own mini-series. All these shorts have different interpretation of kyber krystals and how they actually function. Which is cool. Cause not even Disney has actually settled on how they work and Iam fine with it. Also getting disintegrated by kyber krystel is one way how to go out.

This is probably one of the best episodes so far. It clearly sets YEARS after The Rise of Skywalker and I don't freaking mind because it is one hell of an upgrade from Rey. Kara is so damn much more interesting. The pacing is so on point and it resembles A New Hope and a little of Rogue One. Idk why but I want Lucasfilms to make this canon and hire Production I.G. to make this a full pledge anime series.

Tempering the cyber crystals will definitely do it since lightsabers are assembled through ritual typically. I really love how they made something completely new while keeping it logical to the canon. The Sabersmith must have done something by accident at first but has been doing it regularly.

If The Duel is based on the films by Kurosawa. I am confident that this is more Star Wars than other episodes (I haven't watched Episodes 6 to 9 yet).

I really hope Lucasfilms sees the reception for the episode. Invite Production I.G. to make bridges with the Story Group (to maintain canonicity) and let Dave Filoni produce. That's literally the only way to move forward chronologically.

Easily the best episode so far. Had a solid cast with characters I would like to see more of. Wouldn't mind a series, or a game like Fallen Order, centered around them. Loved how it seemed super obvious that there was a trap, only for the twist to be that it was a Jedi setting a trap for Sith rather than the other way around. The action was nice too, less over the top anime style, and more Star Wars-like.

I think Production I.G made the lightsabers "mood rings" to make this 'impostor among us' story work in limited time. It was cool as hell when they all turned on their lightsabers and all of them came out red lol.

One episode is not enough, this episode was awasome, the entire concept of reestauring the Jedi Order and the Lightsabers being forgotten by the new Jedi was really interesting, if they ever made a series using this episode as a pilot I would definitely watch it, it seems something that happened a lot of years after Luke Skywalker Jedi Order, something really far ahead even in Legends timeline (that does not exist anymore because Disney happened, but can give some idea).
