So that's the Chief's plan to use their money from fight tournaments...

It's cool the show got back into action to the ring again. Tbh, I think the Chief is a complex character but some of his decisions can be questionable. Hoping to see Joe/Nomad fight again more this season though.

Like the master teaching the student like how Nanba did to Joe, Joe is now teaching Chief, with the ever-illusive hallucinations of Nanbu's passing, not to mention wearing off the intense pain from the painkillers he's been taking. All for the money to win back the land that rightfully belongs to them.

It's great to see the Megalobox competition once again, and relive those moments of Season 1 where the underdog starts from scratch, more than just the emotions of past sins that can't be washed away with regretfulness.

With hope and confidence, they can only go as far as Joe's advise and Chief's act for extravagance. The fight of the immigrants only gets more tougher from here on out.

The match is very short but you can feel that it pack the real punch to your heart, I can't wait to see the full length match.

And even then, the situation outside the match is equally intense. Look like in order to make Joe step into the ring again, something has to happened to Chief. It's sad but it's how the story can progress. I hope those two will live throughout the story, they deserve happiness. Maybe they could live together from now on, as a fanservice ;)

Joe coming to grips with what's he's done and Chief fighting to keep everyone together. We began in this episode the tournament that could turn all those immigrants lives around. Chief really needs to win so they can hopefully buy that land to have a place to live. Considering what those punks and that guy Hikawa did to their water supply and spray painting all those hate messages I feel that even if Chief wins they'll find some way to not let the land be sold to the immigrants. Horrible to see the hate being flinged at them just for wanting to come to this country for a better life. It was really sad to hear Chief backstory about his son, losing him on the passage over then boxing his way through the pain. Falling into painkillers and alcohol to drown the pain until finally his gear broke and he had to face the suffering he'd tried to bury. We got some more insight into what happened with Joe and Nanbu, Joe must've missed something important which lead to Nanbu dying. A painful flashback scene at that hospital as Nanbu died while Sachio blamed Joe. I hope we get the full story later on along with seeing Sachio in this timeline so him and Joe may team up once again. Chief better make it out of that fire in one piece! Can't belief those little punk trying to burn the immigrants camp down! If he gets burned up too bad maybe Joe will have to fight in the finals for him.

This was really solid, definitely one of the best episodes in the franchise so far from a writing perspective, especially seeing Joe come to terms with himself when thinking about his former manager/partner in crime.

As much as I loved the first season, I was definitely skeptical about Season 2, but it's shaping up to be better than I thought it would be. Of course it's super early, but it looks promising.

So far this season is starting off with a bang all 3 episodes were great.
I can see Chief being really injured after going into that fire at the end of the episode and Joe fighting in his place would be hype if that happens !

WOW! Chief got through the first and second round but what a complete surprise that they would strike such a low blow and light his trailer on fire. There has been a lot of racism in America against blacks and asians recently popping up in the news. This makes me think of that. Really sad that people act like this we are all one race, the human race

Idk about you guys, but as an ANJ fan, I feel like it will get even more darken...
I think Joe will return and in the last episode, he will die in the ring just like Joe Yabuki, sachio will be there as well screaming for joe. It will be a good reference to Ashita no joe. and will explain the first season's "Not dead yet" text in every episode.

I like it, first season wasn't that good it felt like something was missing, and season 2 filled that empty feeling.
so far it's great. My thoughts are to score 10 if it gets dark and will have a perfect ending like Ashita No Joe.

So Joe continues to train Chief for the Megalo Box tournament, but Joe is still suffering from all the painkillers in his body. He still blames himself for being responsible for Nanba's death by dragging him out of the hospital and have Nanba train Joe for his next fight. Ironically Chief went down a similar path of despair when he lost his son so he tries to help Joe overcome his demons. Chief manages to win the first two matches of the tournament, however the tensions between the locals and immigrants is starting to escalate first there was graffiti, then there was the water pump sabotage, and now they are going as far to burn their homes down. I hope nothing bad happens to the Chief as he went into that fire, but its possible that he might end up with first or second degree burns that will prevent him from fighting.

Joe is getting off the drugs but needs to work on his mental state. I wanna know what happened to Nanba. I love the Mexican inspiration this season. I also gotta say Chief is inside for running into the fire like a dumbass.

On the boxing side of things, Joe is really teaching him to be a nasty counterpuncher. Chief's counters are nasty.

Some people find that ending to be depressing but it is a sad reality in boxing. Some boxing fans don't get how dangerous this sport can be sometimes.

Now that drugs are gone. May be a a straight line on boxing again.

I cried, to say the least. Seeing Joe face and battle his pain head on is such a tragic and uplifting experience that I’m glad is being explored. Seeing him reach out to Nanbu, albeit being a hallucination, really got me. All I could think was man...this guy just need some support.

I also really like how Cheif’s past was revealed and how the relativity to Joe was an obvious click. Both had family members that died (IMO Nanbu was definitely something like a father to Joe) and both used drugs to escape the guilt and pain. Honestly Chief becomes more and more lovable through each episode and I am here for it: he’s a cool guy!

For one thing though, wouldn’t Chief be classified as a heavyweight fighter? Because in the matchup in the third ep he was fighting someone who looked a lot lighter than him (welterweight?). I don’t know, just seemed unbalanced haha

Going against your own people just to be "friends" with some dumb kids? Seriously man. Mio is pure trash.

Anyways, another quite strong episode. Joe still has some inner demons left to fight but thankfully, it seems he came to terms with himself and found a new path to follow from now on.

On the other hand, Chief continues to be a surprisingly deep and well-written character. He indeed has a lot of pressure over his shoulders right now but seeing that sheer desire of wanting to protect his home and people is truly inspiring. Almost moving, I would say.
That said, I'm kinda worried with the way in how this episode ended. I mean, people want to see Joe returning to the ring but if that happens only because Chief got injured in the fire, I would be quite disappointed with that outcome. Especially considering the fact that if Joe takes Chief's place in Megalo Box, that would instantly kill the whole "win our land ourselves" premise these last two episodes have been setting.

Whoever said this was absolutely correct:-
In the new generation of war, enemies aren't going to attack from the outer side, rather like termites, they'll make you hollow from inside first and then they'll hammer a final nail in the coffin."

In other words, that "traitor" boy needs to get beaten up for good. And I hope nothing happens to Chief.
Overall, great episode, and I'm happy to see our old Joe back. But I'm still curious as to what happened to Nambu that Sachio got angry at Joe, which lead Joe to drug addiction.I hope we get to learn all that soon.

Another fantastic episode, this season has been bringing banger after banger episodes, I hope the next ones are bangers as well.

I see Chief is putting that Joe training to good use, tiring the enemy out and then finish it with one blow, classic Joe. Yeesh, I felt that body punch though goddamn. The impact of the punches definitely feels much stronger than the first season, I love it.

I am glad Joe is starting to move on now, if Chief can change, so can Joe. And he also shaved his beard now, I honestly liked the beard, but it really is nice to have Joe back, the real Joe. Looking forward to exploring more of what happened back then to Nanbu.

Man, I fucking hate Mio, he's just making it harder for his people, he's being very selfish. I guess it's understandable for him to leech on those fuckers given their circumstances, but still, he just being used. I hope the fire makes him realize how wrong he is. Also hope that nothing bad happens to Chief, there must be something important left in the trailer, most likely from his family. Really looking forward to the next episode.

I don't understand why people hate the op, it's not about the song visuals etc. It's about the meaning.

Joe after the death of pops has been basically living the self destructing life of a Nomad taking drugs, mental problems, pain, and loneliness.

I think/believe that what the OP tries to do is explain the feeling, the meaning of having no place, no one around you, no one to "love" you, and it does it very well you can feel the freedom and loneliness that Joe experienced, it shows the pain the loss and loneliness.

In the first shots we see him standing in the middle of a ring alone resembling the loneliness, in other shots we see him suffering and getting beat up showing his pain, also at the end of the OP we get some flashbacks showing what he lost(the loss) all covered by a cowboish theme that makes it feel that his life was spiraling down at speeds that Joe couldn't control.

What I believe the OP is truly done for, is for the message, and it hits very well, it sends it through you right down your heart touching the feels, it makes the relationship between the viewer and Joe more clearer, makes you understand his pain.

Alright folks this is just my opinion and sorry for the bad english/punctuation I'm just a eastern european that loves this series:)

s1 was good, but S2 is a huge leap forward in terms of writing and pacing. I didn´t expected anything, but damn, what a good way to start a show. The redemption arc is not only great, but believable. I wonder how damaged Chief is going to be like (if he even makes it out) and Joe coming back to the ring.
