Oh good, the characters finally got dressed up for the Cinderella play. Kyo and Saki looks great in their outfits if you ask me.

Best part of the episode is the character chemistry. I absolutely love Saki's role in this and Kyo's performance as his character is priceless. Pretty amusing episode with a lot of comedy, away from the drama.

Man that play got me laughing hard. But some scenes kind of hit me home a bit. Machi scene and the scene in the play of what Tohru was trying to say. Man. I can't help it but feel so worried. SO much is going on. Only about two more episodes left for this season. T_T

The Cinderella-ish play was hilarious and the audience reaction had me laughing.

It was good to see Kisa again. Now she thinks Hiro likes Rin now.

The ending has me worried. Two more episodes to go.

As expected the play animated was great and hilarious, what a mess.
Ooh, that Kyoru scene on stage was cute.
The narrator on stage is such a mood.
Machi understands Yuki so well.
Oof that ending.
And we get more Machi next episode yes more of my favorite girl.

The play was hilarious, I couldn't stop laughing XD. Tohru x Kyo moment on stage was pretty sweet. Uo chan was damn funny and let's not even talk about Saki.

Saki chan acts so innoncent infront of Shishou, she's going at it hard.

I'm all in for Machi x Yuki ship and it's developing nicely.

That last scene with Kyo and Tohru was heart breaking.

What a great episode! Wholesome and hilarious comedy. Lolol at the narrator trying to god-mod the play and then giving in at the very very end. Momiji is a bro; total wingman and MVP! Shisho also looked handsome.

Sad to think that we only have two episodes left, so I'm guessing we won't get any actual plot progression until season 3 next year.

Yes! I've been waiting for this for so long. And it did not disappoint. This was so good.

Did I forget that moment with Machi happened now or what? Well good thing I did, cause it came as a pleasant surprise.

Also, they're doing THAT next week?! Are you kidding me, I thought we would wait till season 3 to see it, but wow. Can't wait! >w<

Shirtless Kyo!

And I know play that metaphor their situation will be a mess and a bless at the same time, which is something I'm looking for from this episode.

Haru's calmness sometimes scare me, even though I like him because he seems slow and tame, but he doesn't seem to be stupid for a bit. I bet he's much smarter than Kyo.

The outfits are so good, thanks ayame and mine!!! TOHRU LOOKED SO GOOD, YOU KNEW WHAT YOU WERE DOING WHEN YOU MADE THAT DRESS AHHHHH
The art in the episode was spectacular like usual, I'm always in awe.

Great Play! Probably one of my favorite plays in anime :)
Lmfao momiji's face while watching it like it was the most amazing thing ever, had me laughing.
Why are they all so hot wtf.

2 more episodes :(
- i haven't read the manga so I don't know how much more there is (probably a solid amount), but I hope they make a season three!

Amazing episode, perfect anime, Beautiful characters.
Impatiently waiting for the next seven days.

Momiji was kind of eavesdropping Tohru talking to Kureno, but not from the beginning so he didn't listen to Tohru saying Uo's name I guess.

There will be a 3rd Season (probably the last), it definitely needs to air on 2021, or else the hype may somehow fade.

Oh right - good point, of course he heard at the very least Tohru saying he may want to see her someday.. that does make more sense now. Thank you!

I'm dying that we only have two more episodes left. Hoping for more kyo + tohru time, and for season 3 to hurry up!

Ahhh - this episode was so much fun! I loved Cinderella-ish! Way more entertaining than the original, lol. Poor Kyo, when he unknowingly rejected Tohru for a dance, lol. But oh - she came so close to telling him she doesn’t want him locked away forever, the play spilling over into their real lives on more than one occasion.
And I am definitely interested in seeing more progression with Yuki and Machi!

Chapters 88 and 89 were adapted in this latest episode covering the school play. No major changes in this episode beyond some shortening or extending of key scenes for the most part. Here were differences I noticed in this episode:

-Some bits of the opening scene with Hiro and Kisa got shuffled around involving their reaction to the entranceway to the culture festival and Hiro warning Kisa about attracting unwanted attention. Due to this, the setting of the scene was changed in the anime to be outside the school instead of inside it.
-Hiro’s nervous reaction to seeing Megumi coming by was depicted in stick figure form in the manga.
-Tohru as the evil stepsister choosing to have tea with Saki as Cinderalla during the play was added for the anime.
-The narrator’s line telling the audience to be careful taking photos when Yuki appears as the fairy godmother was added for the anime.
-The narrator’s line regarding Cinderella Saki looking glum about going to the ball was removed from the anime.
-Prince Kyo and his friend Arisa’s argument over Kyo’s refusal to participate in the ball was extended a bit for the anime, adding on the line with Hiro’s dumbfounded reaction to the changes to the play.
-Cinderella Saki returning to eating the ball food after rejecting Prince Kyo was depicted in stick figure form in the manga.
-Arisa’s bit where she attempts to prod Prince Kyo to asking Cinderella Saki to dance again was shortened for the anime, which included a lost part where the audience told Kyo to hang in there.
-Prince Kyo and Cinderella Saki originally had a part of their exchange that was depicted in stick figure form in the manga.
-In the manga, Kyo was not undressed from part of his costume when he started hearing Kazuma and Saki’s conversation. Plus, the bit where Kyo recalled he heard about Saki’s crush on Kazuma was removed from the anime.
-There is a removed part of Kyo and Kazuma’s conversation where Kazuma lamented he didn’t see the full play due to an issue that came up at his dojo.
-Tohru recalling Arisa and Kureno’s problems regarding their potential romance was removed from the anime.
-As Hiro was telling Haru that his kindness may have strained his relationship with Isuzu, flashbacks of Isuzu were shown during his exchange in the manga. Plus as Hiro left in frustration from Tohru and the other Sohmas after his exchange with Haru, Momiji commenting Hiro was the one to bring it up was removed from the anime.
-Have some differences to note with Machi being confronted by a trio of female classmates…

  1. The anime added in more spoken dialogue from the girls as Yuki and Kakeru observed the confrontation.
  2. During Yuki and Kakeru’s conversation, part of the scene where Yuki and Kakeru comment on why the two are debating about intervention was removed from the anime.
  3. Part of the exchange with the girls got removed where one of them angrily commented that they worked to clean up the mess left in the student council room before it got messy again upon learning Machi was behind it.

Hmmm. Judging from the preview for the next episode...

It looks like all of the ships are lined up and ready to go. We may get some resolution at the end of this season, but it seems like the drama of finally facing the curse and the majority of the romantic resolution will be taking place in the 3rd season. At any rate, I'm excited for some more Machi time next week!

That's probably the best reimagining of Cinderella I'm ever going to get. Good to see a lot of the zodiacs out and about at the school festival too. Tohru and Kyo just too cute. And I wonder if Yuki might like the vice presidents sister. pretty sure she has made an impression on him!

Arisa and Hana have been criminally underused this season. They steal most scenes they're in. Hana-chan's Cinderlla didn't give a damn about the ball or the prince- delicious meat trumps all.

Also, I still think Kyou and Arisa would make a much more interesting couple than the inevitable Kyou-Tohru pairing this series is going to give us.

That play was, ehmmm rather unique, but it captured the characters very nicely into their roles!!! Best Cinderella-ish I have seen!

Machi was in quite the pinch at the end, but was saved by one of Kakeru ridiculous plans. I love the part of "oh he isn't a prince, right Princess?" that cracked me up so much!

That Kyo x Tohru moment at the end, I can't wait for this ship to sail!

More Machi next week, I am looking forward to that!!

That was one lighthearted funny as fuck episode lmao. That "Cinderella Something" was so damn fresh and it flew by so Natural, I couldn't even tell what was scripted and what wasn't xD.

This episode hints A LOT of stuff happening. Damn, Kyo and Tohru are really for each other, I just hope both of them realize it soon. Also, seems like Yuki is awakening something for Machi, how she describes him ;_; damn, seems like something really clicked on him.

Yuki has been supporting Kyo for a long time actually, by teasing him a lot. This one was pretty clear tho.

Best Cinderella retelling ever! It reflected a lot of our lovable cast of character's personal issues and feelings. The part where Tohru had the outburst about not wanting Kyo to be alone was so sweet! They both too adorable ❤

The Yuki x Machi ship is slowly setting sail with each episode. She hardly knows Yuki and yet she knows him better than anyone, maybe even better than Tohru knows him.

The Cinderela performance was great! I did feel all of them stick with their own personalities which turned very out very genuine :)

Machi being bullied by Yuki's fans... not surprised but I'm relieved it didn't turned out violent. Kakeru's plan was genious! A great save! ^^ Also, Yuki pulling Kakeru's ears was hilarious! That's what he gets for calling Yuki a princess ;3

Great episode! I am wondering what's with the final scene where Kyo and Tohru were avoiding making eye contact. Why??? I can't wait for the next episode >.>

also seems like Machi is shaping up to be the OTP for Yuki lul. That being said, never understood those types of groupies who like to gang up on the love interest. Like do they really believe they can get the person of interests' affection by bullying others out of the way??

The Cinderella schoolplay of Chapters 88 & 89, what a sight to behold. Saki and Arisa really stole their screentime so much as they could to great effect.

The absolute hilarity of Tohru's class cast aside, this was a totally different rendition of Cinderella that I truly loved and wished to experience another time (so another re-watch then). THEY DON'T GIVE A DAMN about the story, and that's A-OK!

Kyo being harassed by Saki and Hatsuharu through Kazuma, the embrassment lingers. It seems as though he'd already figure out Tohru's feelings for him. Meanwhile, Tohru with the Soma Family, some great times.

Kakeru being defiant to stop Yuki when his fans retaliate against Machi, that's the other side of the argument. But seriously, we need a Kakeru in our lives to allay the fear...and also being a casual joker.

Kyo and Tohru moving together as usual, but the riff if the moment comes in a relationship. The ship is getting set to sail, but also hurting to both if revealed.

Great episode, honestly enjoyed ny way through.

Honestly, Hanajima did make the play more interesting to watch. Natsuki Takaya really did an awesome job picking Hanajima as Cinderella. It did spice things up in the play a lot.

From what I understood about Machi, Machi isn't a very complicated girl. She is just an introvert and the characters around her can't really understand her because she doesn't really open up to them.
She is bullied is because she is too much of an introvert. She keeps to herself. So the others around her don't know what she is talking about. But give it time, and that will change especially after meeting Yuki.

That didn't seem like a play to me. It was a like any regular day of bickering and pulling each other's legs. It was so funny. But some moments were deep. I guess the story is getting deep into the romantic feelings now to the point where everyone is frustrated. But the ending of Tohru and Kyo!!!! Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy are they denying and not allowing themselves to accept their feelings????? I know why but stiiiiiilllllll!!!!!!

This episode is proof why Hana-chan is best girl. If she were a "dark Cinderella" in an AU I'd watch it.

Also, more focus on Machi please! I want to know more about her.

Edit: this has been bothering me but were those pedos in the beginning eyeing Kisa while Hiro protected her? It was presented comedically but really disturbing now that I think of it.

Uhm, maybe I got used to every episode being pure drama and angst... I mean, as promising as this new Cinderella play sounded, it wasn't as amusing as I was hoping. A shame but well, at least I could see some characters I was already missing such as Momiji, Kisa and Hana-chan's little brother.
The last message about women being able to live securely without relying on marriage still killed me tho xD

Now being more serious, I really liked how both Hana-chan and Yuki used/added some lines of their own to resemble Kyou's present and future situation as the Cat. Arisa's outburst on stage about Kureno felt kinda forced tho... but guess that's just me still finding her crush at first sight a bit superficial. Kureno's development couldn't come sooner!

As for the second half, I found it kinda messy with so many plot points being mentioned but fortunately, it didn't last long since the focus was quickly set on Machi and her rather accurate impression of Yuki.
And we also got some romantic development at the end... well, kinda. Tohru's intervention during the play about not wanting Kyou to be locked down was adorable but the final scene left such a bitter taste in my mouth. Hopefully, this "in denial" mindset they both now share won't take too many episodes from season 3.

P.S.: Not sure if someone will answer this but regarding Hana-chan's "crush"on Kazuma... should I take it seriously or is it some sort of comedy gag?

In the manga, they were boys Kisa's age that were eyeing her. Not sure why the anime would age them up like that... I also thought it was pretty creepy
