GARNiDELiA's OP is a decent return after being on hiatus for so long, and Hina Tachibana's ED is just her typical average repertoire.

Amongst mangaka Etorouji Shiono's many works, his completed series of Übel Blatt (evil blade in German) is pretty much reminiscent of Daiki Kobayashi's Ragna Crimson in its dark fantasy element.

The 14 warriors which were downed to just 7 Heroes, the tale of the town of Wischtech with executions across the board, and one elf attempting to save another from probable execution, the town they're in is merciless if they don't get anywhere. And even though he and the lil' elf named Peepi escape unscathed from the great monk Rascheb, their faith is tested when the remnants come after them, prompting the elf to attack them for defense. The Little Hero of Köinzell, acknowledged by the adult, Wied, that he saved both elves, sets off a chain of events from the latter's help to find the smuggler related.

The problem with the warrior monks raiding Altea's small pub housing orphans, and both Koinzell and Wied get to work pushing back the offense led by the same monk that spared them, with the Monastery's reputation on the line. Not to mention the secret underground city escape route that has strong golems against their way, without Koinzell, Wied and the others stand no chance of survival, only when Koinzell awakens in a moonlight night...only to find one of the Seven Heroes awaiting him to duel battle.

A decent showing for a promising dark fantasy series, with subtle animation by the collab production of Satelight and Staple Entertainment.

Complicated may be its story, setting and plot, but its revenge story is one that will keep you coming back for more.

Looks like they skipped volume 0 of the manga if what you say is true. Don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing or they’re moving it somewhere else. Anything to note with the overall production? (Ex..sound, animation, art, pacing and direction)

Yeah, well, I would say it goes beyond that.

Kept my expecations low for this adaptation due to censorship. This is the kind of the series that would've benefited from coming out as a retro OVA.

Not a fan of rape scenes. By fanservice I meant classic ecchi setups, scenes, panty shots, boobs flapping around. Basically Highschool DxD fanservice.

@Grimlegend11 Production is just kind of mediocre to average at best, and it's best if they skipped Volume 0 to begin with as it doesn't make any sense as an introduction.

This show should've gotten an anime years ago, long overdue. I do remember reading the manga but seeing this animated is...something else. Hard to say it's either good or bad at this point but it has that dark, grim feeling of despair carried into the first episode. Köinzell carries a deep feeling of revenge and it drives him as a character in his journey.

There's character abuse and violence but I'm guessing they have to tone it down to broadcast it on TV. Animation quality looks so-so imo, I expected higher tbh. Theme song has that dark vibe but overall consistent with its premise.

A little bit reminds me of Hametsu no Oukoku (The Kingdoms of Ruin), but this anime is much better, at least for now.

Did the leader of smuggler Altea want to sleep with Köinzell in exchange for smuggling him? In her defense, Köinzell reminds her of her crush from a long time ago. I'm glad the deal failed so Köinzell can remain virgin. He doesn't seem to want to sleep with her anyway.

An old school revenge action seinen with gore and violence from two decades ago, just the kind I was craving for but unfortunately satelight being the one adapting it the animation is very limited, like the visuals though. It's the same as Helck and ironically think this'll go down the exact same route as Helck did with the production and become a mess. Given Helck's story itself also deteriorated. Anyway just gonna go ahead and read the manga which I've been wanting to read for years now but kept delaying. Liked the OP song btw and Altea's pretty.

I sort of enjoyed the first 3/4 of the Ubel Blatt manga (it drags on a bit too much towards the end) but this adaptation is so far absolutely horrendous. I don't mind the censoring and down toning of violence/gore, but they skip so much content and reveal some other stuff that should happen much later that I fear this will be a shallow rushed adaptation. Then again, it's done by Satelight which hasn't done anything remotely good in years.

A shame really. But then again, seinen manga always get crap adaptations nowadays.

I was hyped for this as I have just started reading the manga, however the hype has turned to disappointment. They did start with Volume 0 which I was hoping they would do, however they start in the middle of it. The content is censored which I kind of realized it would be once I saw the 16+ rating, and the animation is bad. The stuff they are cutting out is the stuff that made we want to watch the anime. I will stick around a few to see if the circle back and cover the stuff they missed but I admit it’s going to be a hard watch with the bad production.

The first episode is an underwhelming start to what could have been an engaging dark fantasy. While the premise has potential, the execution feels rushed, leaving little time to connect with the characters or the story.

The visuals are decent, but they’re not enough to make up for the lack of emotional depth or compelling world-building. It’s not terrible, but it doesn’t do enough to stand out in a genre full of stronger entries.

GARNIDELIA BACK! But that’s about the only thing this has going for it. Should’ve known when the Op animation was ass that the rest of the show was gonna be bad. What’s the point adapting a dark fantasy story if you’re gonna censor all the gore and twisted shit that makes it metal?

This feels so cookie cutter and watered down and I haven’t even read the manga. Hasn’t lived up to the manga hype at all. Feels more like a slightly better Hametsu no Oukoku rather than an all time great like fans were saying lol. Everything feels so edgy too like not the good sort of edgy, but just trying too hard. It’s kind of cringe. Like the MC looking up into the moon talking about the sky. So profound, so deep. And can we get a different outfit for the little girl? Jeez. I do wanna see the 7 heroes get fucked up for their betrayal, so I’ll stick around.

the art and colors are fine, but the animation is borderline powerpoint. The story pacing is just all over the place. We dont even know who Koinzell is and what his motivations are. We know nothing about the world. I know we cant expect everything from 1st episode, but they couldve atleast given us something more.

Also, the biggest letdown was the minimal intensity of the show. There's no gore at all, where the manga was infamous for being gory and uncensored...

Hello I'm gonna say each week what they skipped (I'm not saying anything bad or trying to be negative just info)
They adapted 4 chapter. They also decided to skip volume 0
for some reason i don't know they skipped basically the whole forth chapter where Kolnzell strugles kinda.
They skipped a s** scene (most likely every scene is gonna get skipped) and that's basically it. It feels like a rushed adaptation like Helk had since both are the same studio

I'll comment as someone who hasn't read the original material: I found the first episode very promising. It felt a bit like Ragna Crimson and reminded me of Fullmetal Alchemist. Not to mention the animation was stunning. If I were to judge blindly, I'd say it has the potential to be the best anime of the season. However, seeing some complaints, it seems like it's being poorly adapted. For me, at least, this episode was really, really good. Now it's just a matter of seeing what happens next.

Episode one- it is way more lighthearted than I thought it would be. OR it just failed at being grimdark, I don't care either way.
It didn't start out light- but the beginning scene is nothing new.
I've heard this song before- group of 'heroes' murders their own comrade, he screams like crazy, then comes back for revenge.
Redo of Healer comes to mind, but so do several other Isekai-reincarnation anime...
The Monetary being the most powerful establishment that dominates a whole city- yup seen that too. Berserk comes to mind, but so do several other anime.

That big fluffy monster thing was the funniest part. It is barely animated, and it looks like some goofy monster out of a children's book. At one point they knock it down, and it gets up and LITERALLY SAYS: "I only tripped!"
Then elf boy jumps up onto his head and he goes, "Unh?" like an 80s kid's cartoon; then after he's slashed- "AAAAURGHHHHH!!!!"
OMG I laughed so hard, and laughed again after he dead, there's just this monster foot sitting there.

The characters are pretty cute designs- Koinzell is the adorable elf boy. Then they gave the little elf girl the unfortunate name of.... peepee? Ugh... okay. The chicks are all really hot, and the male characters are well enough.....
I keep reminding myself this is an OLD manga, and maybe it would have been ground-breaking if it had been adapted 20 years ago. But in 2025, we've already seen it all and this episode's plot- group of misfit characters on their way to catch a transport- is literally the most cliche thing possible; and there's nothing wrong with doing something cliche and predictable if it's entertaining or looks good. But this looked so mid it felt like I'd already seen it before. The colors and backgrounds look sharp, but not unique; the animation is CRAP; most fights aren't animated at all, and the entire revenge-quest plot is so tired and worn out there's hardly anything here to intrigue you.

Well it has a cute elf boy and girl... that's the only reason.
But Lord hear my prayer: if you are so kind as to reincarnate me as a cute elf boy, please give me a more fun and interesting world to romp around in. Like a tavern, without the monk goons or prostitutes PLEASE.

On second thought, you can leave the prostitutes.

6 minutes and 20 seconds in and the plotholes are unreal. From the tech to the architecture to the dialog to the stupid excuse to drive the plot forward. This is actually unbearable.

I can't watch this. It is painful. A few mistakes here and there I can overlook. This entire series is a mistake.

Also, the character designs suck. Might as well be cosplay. The designs do not mesh together between the characters and the environment/culture. They're wild and over the top.

You have flying metal ships but you spend all of those resources on stone castles that could be obliterated from the sky? You have flying metal ships but you have wagons on the ground? Bro. I get not everybody has flying metal ships but your transport on the ground would surely not be wagons. The gap is ridiculous.

Bro, "my plans would be ruined if you were caught" after watching a bunch of caught people? Huh? This screams I MUST HAVE A REASON TO MOVE THE PLOT FORWARD EVEN IF THAT REASON MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE AT ALL. Just bad writing.

Lil bro revealed himself when he wasn't found? Why?

This is so bad. This is Morbius-level bad. I can't wait for the "it's morbin' time" level memes for this series.

People rating this a 7/10 actually blows my mind.

I'm done ranting :3.

Smh. Started the manga last year and I'm gonna be honest, that first episode was terrible and I fear for the rest of the episodes. Ep 1 was 100% filler. They toned down the gore and violence. No sex, no nudity (even though there were 2 such scenes in the first chapter of the manga). The character designs are not bad, not good, but I am satisfied. As for the animation and fight scenes, they're just meh. They be giving PowerPoint ahh slides which is annoying since I have been anticipating this anime since it was announced.
Then again, it's Satelight. Nothing surprising there since they haven't produced that much good anime in years. Only good one I can remember is Helck.

*sigh*
I'll keep watching to see Köinzell in action but to those that are reading this; it's best to keep on the anime for a second case situation. Read the manga instead. Please.

I thought it very odd that the 2 of them were sitting on the bed and it turns out there was a reason they were on a bed but was cut out of the anime. Considering how much nudity the manga had it would likely be better just to read the manga. I think I will read the manga chapters then watch the episodes. Anime will miss to many details.

Damn it man, everything was perfect, but they just had to skip stuff, really hope we get something like a director's cut or something to fill in those gaps and actually get the volume 0 adapted, I mean, the cut out scenes feel too, how do you call it, stuff? Idk, language is hard, but it should have flowed better if they were planning to cut them out anyway, maybe I'm just coping when thinking that those were actually planned and might be seen in some later release
