Finally, police dogs are getting some love in this show. I'm surprised it even took this long for them to make more relevant appearances.

I also kinda like Mai and Seiji's character chemistry in this show. Feels rather underrated imo.

Kawai did a lot of running this episode shame she didn't manage to catch that guy tho, and it's also a shame she could not keep up with the dog.
As for the dog wouldn't they normally just use a long line or something like that trying to keep up with a dog is really hard if not impossible letting it run freely like that.

That certainly was a .. unique way of how to use a police search dog, that i've seen, why not just keep it on a leash and then follow after it, while you slowly keep the leash a bit loose, as many other police people do ... .. . Anyway, the old man was found good and well.

Dogs are highly sociable animal. They helps so much in detective and other fields. They are also the most loyal animal. Aside from that
Was a very good episode. Fuji and Yamada neglecting their jobs were funny. Though they should have reported. But for over-working they didn't heed.
Poor Kawai ran a lot for someone who did very minor crime. But the support team was late. Because she was running out of breath.

Sure sometimes I forget how hard it must be for the police to search for a lost person, poor Kawai though she had a tough time with the dog and same with chasing that punk thug xD

Ooh, finally the K9 get their chance to be featured in the case of a missing person. As expected, the police and other people related are mobilized for cases like these, and like it or not, police dogs can be both a blessing and curse, and extra care must be taken. Respect the Dog-sama.

It's not easy tracking down a missing person, much so when it involves the mountainous terrain. But even more humourous is how normal countryside folk can unrelentingly break the traffc rules unknowingly, that once you see it, you can't unsee it. I feel bad for Kawai having to be subjected to rough conditions, even down to not letting them have toilet business. Thank god the missing grandpa is found, and case closed. Don't sell the police force short, and Dog-sama is just doing its work, salute Dog-sama.

Quitting the police force ain't easy, and that's the case for Todo for their last duty being traffic control for a marathon while the Trafic Control Division holds priority. Thank god for a search-and-arrest case, which Kawai chooses to take it upon herself to get out of this mundane job. Welp, the modern times attract attention for all the wrong reasons of recording a chase stunt between police and thief, nothing seems to be working for Kawai.

A good send-off for Todo working on the motorcycle, and what a way to go out smoothly. Kawai really worked hard this episode, and she should be commended for that.

Even though this anime declares itself as a work of fiction, I'm convinced that it's actually based on real events. Pretty amazing, isn't it? The author's experience as policewoman doesn't go wasted at all. Though I'm wondering if the author see herself as Fuji or Kawai.

This might be anime of the season for me.

Update: Just found out that while characters are composited so that they don't resemble any individual real life person, Yamada character is actually one thing that is very close to real life person that Yamada is based on. Now it kinda makes me wanna know who!

Man!! This anime really opens your eyes and expands your thinking. It is direct, practical, and I LOVE IT! Available on Muse Asia.

An elderly villager is lost in the woods and a search party consisting of the Police, the Firefighters, local volunteers, and others have been deployed. Seeing a female police officer in the team, the two firefighters are surprised and ask her about it. Now normally you might think that the lady is gonna get mad and say stuff like "I can take care of myself. What if I'm a woman?". But NO. She actually appreciates that the firefighting department is considerate. She also gets annoyed at her male coworker who thinks that the firefighting guys are sexist or something. Then she concludes that the police are exploitative and send women to dangerous jobs without consideration. WOW what an eye opener.

That was a really "simple" yet nice dream and he did his best to accomplish it, poor Kawai had to run throughout the whole episode but at the end of the day what really matters is that the dog got to have some fun.

I imagine it depends on the terrain, they were inside of a pretty thick mountain so there are too many slopes, bushes and etc. where it would be more trouble than worth.

For me this was the best episode so far - Seiko and Takeshi doing some "see no evil, hear no evil" in order to focus on the main more important task, Mai making some good points why her job sucks.

"a shame she could not keep up with the dog" - yeah, try to keep up with a German Shepherd.

Well that was a bit unfortunate for Kawai, first keeping up with that dog and then that suspect, both of which taking their full toll on her stamina. So can't really blame her if she again starts thinking of quitting this profession.

animals like a dog are more "restrained" with a leash even if is an extendable one, they need him to be 100% comfortable to do the job

Very good episode, really enjoyed the first half of searching for the missing old man, it was hilarious watching Kawai chase that dog, I guess they really do just have to chase the dog until it finds something lol, and Fuji and Yamada ignoring crimes was funny too, not to mention the “pee to your heart’s content” lmao. The 2nd half wasn’t short of laughs either, Kawai having to run for her life again as people cheer her on to chase down a guy that she didn’t even need to chase lol. I really loved this episode, and Kawai was cute sleeping at the end too, definitely one of my best girls this season.

Poor Kawai had it rough in this episode. Trying to keep up with a German shepherd is already tough, but to do so within the mountains, where you're dealing with constant slopes to run up as well as down, along with parts that are slippery, has to be hell for her. I don't really blame her for crying and throwing an amusing hissy fit over it. XD

Another funny moment was with Fuji and Yamada, who were deliberately ignoring all of the fly-tipping within the area that they were walking through during their search for the missing old man.

The second half of the episode was business as usual for Kawai, as she ended up chasing after a crook who she didn't really need to go after, but it was nice to see the residents help her with directions and were cheering her on. Sadly it was not meant to be for her, but she did give it her all. Her sleeping pose at the end of the episode was very cute, though. =3

I fucking died when dog-sama looped. Pretty good and hilarious episode! I feel bad for Kawai, she was running for the whole fucking episode lmao. Kawai chasing that hooligan and the people just recording and doing nothing was hilarious because of her inner monologue, but damn that's real as fuck. Being Kawai is pain.

With how this is based on the author's real life experiences, I assume the piss troubles are a real thing, damn.

At least, besides the Kawai pain, we got some wholesomeness with Fuji and Seiji's friend, that was really nice.

Great episode! An 81 year old man went missing and guided by Dog Sama, Kawai and Minamoto had to chase after its random running xD. Kawai ended up crying as she needed to pee and have water lol. After that, she ended up chasing a late teens delinquent who rode a motorcycle without a license thinking it could perhaps be a very big case! She got inspired by the kids telling her where the man went and...tripped.

Looking forward to the next episode!

Poor Kawai had spent most of the time running in this episode. She needs work on building up her stamina. Taking a police dog of the leash was kind of strange to me because most police dogs are kept on leashes to prevent them from running all over the place as dogs can be easily distracted by the smallest things. Kawai actually ran her own personal marathon chasing after a suspect and everybody was cheering her on and taking pictures of her.

Lacking sleep, but forced to join the search party at the mountain in the morning must be hard enough, not to mention they must obey dog-sama. Too bad for Kawai that lacking the knowledge behind and ofc she must endure those mountain excercises as long as she can, until some part of the body couldn't manage to keep it up xd. Fuji and the red-haired dude slacking off the search session and just wandering around randomly, i can't help but tickle with those part. Fortunately, there's nothing bad with the missing old man, and the folks really not helping much this time. At least Kawai and the other had a nice excursion there!

Second part, where Kawai should've taken more lesson to be a temporary trafic control officer for the marathon event, but ended up having her another excercisement during the pursue against those hoodlum. Idk if its a bad luck or purely a trial for her to be more dedicated to the job xd. But, stay strong and keep it up, Kawai!

why does it seem that everyone is taking this show so seriously when it is clearly a sarcastic comedy? jesus americans are way too obsessed with police forces.

Imo this was so far the best episode. Comedy was on point and Kawai is one of my favorite if not my favorite character of this season. Her VA really makes her sound as if she truly hated her job (which again is the point of her character). Character chemistry is great as always and we even got a little bit of wholesomeness in the end. Loved it 5/5.

Another nice episode. Another thing I appreciate about the relaxed feeling of this series is that it feels like anything can happen - even a surprise tense situation like an alert put out for a suspect and a resulting chase at the drop of a hat. But also that even in the more ostensibly dire and serious situations, it's still pretty easygoing and "chill". Feels like a real crew of veterans used to the day-in, day-out goings on of their job and prepared to face any situation, no matter how scary or stupid. Plus a newbie of course, in the form of Kawai.

Considering the limitless variety of public nonsense and stupidity or just random happenings from petty theft or vandalism to traffic incidents to missing persons to weather-related chaos, there seems like no shortage of situations they can place them in. It does feel like the mangaka just writing about her day to day experience on the job with some added flair and poetic license by writing in what she may have been thinking or the other people around her may have been thinking when dealing with this line of work.

I don't know if anyone else here has seen this other series, but Kawai in some ways also reminds me of Red Blood Cell from Hataraku Saibou. Maybe due to being also a still somewhat inept newbie thrown into the frying pan way over her head and a female with short hair. But Kawai's a little more snarky and openly cynical and defiant.

Why would you release the police dog like that? Just keep the leash loose. Now you made poor Kawai-chan cry.

As for the second half, it was indeed funny but in all honesty, it was Kawai's fault for not using the radio to ask for the crook's offense in the first place.

Anyone else getting Uramichi Oniisan vibes from Kawai? I think this kind of show is more enjoyable to an older crowd who have to deal with the adulting stuff and other existential crises as one gets older. Others may find it "boring" because it's basically a show about police doing police things in Japan.

I personally like it and will keep watching.
