| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Ah good episode. We get more focus of Asako and Tora this week as well as Mayuko. Some creepiness aside because of the youkai, I think it did a good job at capturing the essence of the supernatural element part. It also delivered their past history well with the connecting flashbacks imo. Good way to finish off the episode as well with the balanced comedy! Youkai can seriously be scary when you have no idea when they will pop up tbh...  Asako so cute when she blushes <3 |

| Just to pre-empt a few of the usual comments: no this is not an episodic show, all of the so-called monster of the week episodes actually contribute to the ongoing plot. Even small things like a magazine being carried actually foreshadow upcoming events. Nor was this a filler episode, as it pretty well confirms both the UshioxAsako and ToraxMayuko ships (although the latter still is more of a lunch date than a relationship). The Kamaitachi are still playing a role in helping our dynamic duo. Unfortunately they had to cut down on the development of the creepiness factor for the mirror demon to fit the mini-arc into one episode (several chapters in the manga), but it still conveyed the relationship building between the four main characters. Next week it looks like we'll get into a longer and more involved conflict as a new complication arises in the journey to Hokkaido. |

| I wonder what are the odds of Mayu possibly falling in love with Tora and vice versa lol It's good to see Ushio interact with those two again as well as to see that Tora still likes Mayu too....Asako has it bad for Ushio lol, I just wonder how long it's gonna take for her to admit it. I liked seeing those blade youkai again as well as seeing how close they be gotten to Ushio and Tora....They're really kind people and I love that about them :) |

| LOL @Asako spacing out duruing the day. This episode enforced my desire to see Ushio and Ayako together. They're a good couple. This episode kind of confirmed that they're going to end up together. As always, it was a good episode, incredibile animation and good action scenes. Ushio rushing towards saving Asako and Mayuko was exciting to see. I loved the moment when Tora jumped in the mirror too, although slow, Tora's development will blossom into something amazing. That youkai was purely creepy asf, lol. Kind of disappointed the girls took that as a dream. |

Aww.. Tora getting possessive over delicious-looking Mayuko. ^^ I'd like to see their relationship develop. It would have been nicer though if the girls didn't think it was all a dream. They've been involved with youkais for some time now and I feel like they should know.  |

| More of a focus on Ushio and Asako's relationship in this episode. It was nice to see some familiar faces return in this episode, even if it was only for a moment or two. I really wish Asako and Mayuko didn't mistake it for a dream, but the fact that Ushio looked like some sort of god at that moment makes it no surprise that they interpreted it in that way. |

| Well, this episode pretty much confirms UshioxAsako and ToraxMayuko (at least for me). Looks like Ushio's disappearance really affects his school, not to mention Asako, who looks so cute when she blushes. Also, we got to see some familiar faces. Guessing they'll be showing up again later on. |

| So this episode confirms all the ships are about to set sail although the ToraxMayuko ship may be hard to pull off but I kinda figured because she also liked Ushio at one point didn't she but now that's all going to fall into Asako's hands (best girl) Really liked how everyone at school was teasing Asako, was funny to watch...Also why are Ushio and Tora so badass. Really enjoying this anime so much, haven't watch an episode that I didn't like |
| Well on the one hand this part was kinda necessary since it adds more to their relations, which gives more punch to a later part, but I'm still mad it got in over Kyoura. I'll stay it was better than the manga version though. Looks like next time they're finally doing an arc in two parts. Good thing too since I really don't want that bit to get rushed. |

| The best episode so far. The visuals are stunning. There's also a feeling of epicness in this episode. I think it's because of the soundtrack. Some characters returned and the elder yokai remembered me of Studio Ghibli. It's nice to see good yokais helping them. The humor was on par too. The next episode is the "part 1". Maybe the beginning of a bigger arc? |
When I saw the mirror I immediately had that thing in mind. Can´t wait for the third part of this amazing game. This ep. felt a little like a filler but it was nice to see the relationship between Ushio and that tsun tsun girl. You know all this shipping of Tora and Orihime-like girl makes me wonder if Tora actually mightve been a human back in the past though his past in general would be really interesting. |
| To all those saying this is filler, the mirror demon will play a role later. And to those complaining that this show is too episodic, the author's style is that he uses the episodic monster of the week chapters to introduce concepts and characters that all get used later. Its all connected. I actually like the Mayuko/Tora ship, but I can see why some would think its weird. I think its kinda cute. |

| Good episode, defects, not tell them now, since they are always the same. Positive addition to the good work done by the animation studio, there is a pleasant environment where Ushio and Tora fight the youkai, the extrapolation of the past by the plot, useful to color the relationship that develops between Ushio and his girls friends, and the nature of that relationship. Comedy funny enough now to do well, you just have to fix a few flaws that beset this animated adaptation. |

| A lot of 90s Anime had damsel-in-distress wallflower female characters that never really amounted to much other than being cannon fodder for the hero to save to prove the protagonist's worth. I hope Asako can become something more. I can totally get why people ship Tora with Mayu. After all... |

| Not impressed with this episode. Which is a bummer because I've been really enjoying this series. Wasn't completely awful, for one thing I liked the old youkai who I hope shows up again. I also was excited during the first half when it was shifting focus to the long absent Asako and Mayuko. That part was good if a little cliche, Asako is I think maybe a little too tsundere sometimes. I also liked the Kamaitachi siblings being there again, world's starting to feel a little bigger. But let's not beat around the bush any longer. I think this episode had some really rampant, gross and unnecessary fan service and I thought this show was a little better than that. The youkai of the week was lame as shit. I know this is based on an old manga, but I am done with crazy villains who not so subtly want to rape young women as their motivation. The scene with him and naked Mayuko was kind of gross and while not too harshly I sadly think this has affected my opinion of the show. I've accepted some pretty morally repugnant ecchi in other anime. But here it just feels so unnecessary, this is so far a pretty silly and campy series. It's done nothing to warrant such audacity and frankly borderline obscenity. Hey I hated when Sword Art did it too, just saying. Maybe I'm being too sensitive it is just an anime. It's not like the series hasn't had pretty over the top fan service until now. But I don't know I mean this positively. I have come to expect this show to entertain me and occasionally interest me every week. And I don't think this episode is up to its usual standards. Still excited to press forward past this misstep. |

| Are people really calling that bit with Mayuko fanservice? Really? That's kind of baffling to me. No one made any mention that we got to see way more of Saya last episode. All we saw here was a bit of leg and some waist and one perverted youkai. Pretty tame, honestly. Gotta say, if that bothers you, don't ever read Berserk. You'd probably never be able to sleep again. Anyway, I loved the fact that this episode focused almost exclusively on Ushio's past relationships with both Asako and Mayuko. Still gotta say Mayuko is my favorite girl for this series. She's the best cute nice girl in anime I've ever seen because she's so grounded in reality. I also like that this episode makes it pretty clear she's also got quite a dirty sense of humor at times, which, believe it or not, actually goes with the nice quiet ones in real life more often than you think. The battle with the mirror Youkai was short and sweet, but, it wasn't the focus, so it was fine. At first it bothered me with the dream thing at the end. Asako was a pass; she does this a lot, but not Mayuko. She would know, especially given that she even woke up naked. Then I read the manga and realized the squeal at the end (that was not translated in the subs), was a "Kyah!" moment, or "Huuuh?!" realization that they had just realized oh shit, it WAS real because I'm naked! Got it, all forgiven. They had just woke up when they thought it was a dream, overwhelmed with emotion. When I first saw it, I thought that squeal was just them continually to squeal from elation or something, not the realization. Really should've been translated in the subs, like "HUH?" or something else to make it more clear. I still don't quite get how Ushio was alerted via the pond, nor is it mentioned in the manga. I'll assume it's another Japanese thing, where, standing in front of something reflective (like a mirror), if you talk or think about someone, and they're also by a mirror, you'll see them. Which is what happened here. This show can be kinda confusing if you don't know a lot of these Japanese myths that aren't really explained. I'm just guessing too. Not even sure if I'm right. Since it was never elaborated on in either, I'll guess my assumption is mostly correct, as most people versed in that culture would get it without needing to be told. |

| Lol, this was a great episode. Finally, some backstory of Asaki x Ushio and it sure was sweet. Ushio didn’t seem to care at first but he couldn’t let it go afterwards, sounds very like him. We got to see Asako’s side, I wonder what made Ushio fall for Asako though. Moving on, the mirror sure was one eerie and creepy molester. Good thing Ushio and Tora made it in time, thanks to the mirror specialist. Tora’s become really protective of Mayuko and the ED suggests something too, whoo I’m all down for these delightful developments. Lol, the final scene of the girls mistaking the events as a dream and their intense blushing was hilarious. I just have to wonder but how did Ushio manage to see through the water in the first place to keep up with Asako and Mayuko’s situation though. I wonder if it has anything to do with the Beast Spear. |
