THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Pretty much him being at the wrong place at the wrong time. I lol'd @ the Engrish in this short movie. But anyways, for a Mirai project, this was decent imo. I think a lot of the scenes captured Makoto's conscious well. Damn, poor Hazuki :(. She gets caught up in this. Wish this was movie was a bit longer so it could have some development. Still, not too shabby. |

A boy seeing a death scythe. One of death scythe is voiced by OnoD, who had experience in that dead person being a monster before. The boy saved the girl who died into wondering soul and prevented from being a monster. ED: "I came, I saw, I conquered" by Kando Bando (I thought that it was someone from foreign country sang it, but it was sung by Japanese person. Just the song is by someone foreign "Stephen McMair"). |

For all its generic grimdark premise, this OVA is actually quite promising at the start. It is suitably muted in tone, never going too dramatic about the MC's ability to see death gods. Towards the end, though, all consideration of plot goes out of the window in favour of forcing a climax: death gods start fighting for no reason, culminating in a laughably cliched standoff between two death gods with each spouting comic-book lines as dramatic as they are hollow. It also felt like there was a lot they could have done with the theme at hand, of whether it is better to save someone selfishly from death or to selflessly let them pass. It would have made for a genuinely intriguing dilemma if the director hadn't portrayed the two choices as an obvious black and white conflict, using an utterly horrifying image of grasping hands to represent ascension, and cementing the selfish choice as the clearly good one. The movie takes pains at the start to characterise the MC as a realist who accepts that fate cannot be changed and some things just have to be accepted, which is a good thing. A mature attitude to life is always nice to see in a medium as immature as anime. But by the end of the film he undergoes a complete change, believing that fate can be changed by human strength. Whatever hints of maturity this show displays in the beginning are replaced by the most generic of shounen attitudes, undermining much of the promise and value it seemed to hold. QUALITY is an issue as well. Compared to 'Ookii Ichinensei' and 'Paroru', the more visually competent of the Anime Mirai works, characters here are roughly drawn, sometimes even going off-model. Colouring on the characters is plain too. |

Yeah, I like the beginning, concept and setting, but the ending was meh. Studio 4C has done better. But it was a decent watch. |

Not the most unique story out there, but it was executed pretty well. Wasn't so keen on Makato trying to save Hazukil... I mean, everyone dies man, you can't just refuse that fact. Yet this show glorified the idea of cheating death, and those grim reapers acting so happy and carefree at the end, ugh... But whatever, it is what it is |

all stories have an ending, whether it be a quick one, open-ended, continuation... would one enjoy suffering throughout the day? it only makes sense to enjoy ourselves until our time runs out. 6/10 |

This one was pretty much average, cliche it's your best friend thing, random shinigami helping you, randomly taking out a scythe and fighting another shinigami, for some reason another random shinigami helps you, talk to the girl, etc. The story felt average and everything else felt like it was taken from nowhere, really random, felt like they had no motive(even though we knew the one shinigami's motive). Needed more time to be good. |

I liked Harmonie more. At least it had some nice music. Idk...I might have to rewatch this. It was kind of bland overall so I multitasked while watching and didn't catch everything. |

Well this was just so-so... Harmonie was much better plot-wise and animation-wise imo... |

Those reaper guys were awesome, except the old man. Haha For a moment, I thought it would require Makoto to become like them in order to save Hazuki. Though, it was indeed implied at the end. What became of the guy with the car in the beginning? Did he like give up on Hazuki or something? XD Well, not everything can be covered in 24 mins. It was decent enough for an Anime Mirai project. |

So is she still blind after he saves her? I hope not, she was such a nice girl. The beginning of this was great. I was almost in tears., but then it went downhill from there. Still good though. |

Yeah, it was okay. It was slightly interesting, but not boring. I still enjoyed it though, particularly the part where that one shinigami pulled out a scythe. The ED song was nice too. Otherwise, the story wasn't anything too special. |

It was pleasant, I suppose a limitation of the time but I didn't really feel much for any of the characters. It felt like there were these big single things to make the characters stand out and that was it. But it was still pretty sweet. |

Kinda crappy to be honest, started out somewhat interesting then within just a few minutes went way downhill, even found myself struggling to finish , I know it was only a short 25 minute story but compared to harmonie this was just terrible. All in all anime mirai 2014 was huge letdown unlike last yr which was pretty good |

I would think that as part of the young animator's project they would have attempted to make it look good. |

That was SHIT, DAWG The best parts were the start, and when he and Hazuki got together. Well no shit. Why did I just state the obvious??????? Fucking hell maaaaan STUDIO4℃, can't you do anything right anymore???? What's up with the ED???? Fuck this. Shit reminded me of the PS3 game, El Shaddai. (maybe just because of Lucifer) |

It wasn't bad I guess. But it lacked some impact in the end.. Dunno, I was kinda happy they got their second chance but maybe I did expect sad end? Interesting concept though, if only they did thought it out bit more. |

Not today eh? He merely postponed her death. Spend all your time with her Makoto, either it's your early turn or hers next time. XP Art and animation was meh, sound was alright, plot was just OK and completely forgettable. I'm still feeling generous so I think 6/10 is just about right. |

The animation was quite weak, and the fighting scenes felt superfluous. As were the ones where the MC runs after the girl through some kind of vortex and random backgrounds. I felt it diminished the plot. Still decent overall. 7/10 |

Just like Harmonie I wish it could have been longer really wanted to see how things would turn out after the ending I can imagine this being made into a series where starting off with Hazuki being the first person Makoto saves then he becomes a part reaper himself then starts to save other peoples lives or send them off or he becomes a part reaper first then by the last episode he notices that its Hazukis time and his companions try to take her then of course he saves her like what happened here anyway overall it was a nice show. 7/10 |

Don't know why people are complaining. It's only slightly under Harmonie in quality, really. It's better than the other two shorts from this year's collection. Harmonie was definitely the best, but this was pretty great too. Ending was a little shaky, but it can be forgiven considering it's a short film, and you all would be bitching about it if it ended any other way anyway. |

The title synonym said "Young Animator Training Project" so I'm guessing that it wasn't all pro animators working on this film, so I'll give it some slack. The quality wasn't an issue for me to begin with. All in all, I did enjoy the peace. Even though people do die someday...it doesn't mean you should just stand by and watch. |

For once, they end up together! I've seen so many young animator project where the guy just doesn't end up with the girl. I like this pair a lot, I like the trope of the guy helping the girl out, staying by her side through all her hardship. I was afraid that the girl would end up with that guy with the fancy car at the beginning, glad that wasn't the case! The idea is also rather interesting, I really wanna know more about the shinigami. I'd agree with the animation, it was rather lacking but yeah, it wasn't a huge detriment. |

So it was love that brought back Hazuki and gave her the reason to live, all thanks to Makoto. But I may say that male shirigami and that lady also contributed to her breaking fate, not thanks to the old man shirigami though. Such a nice movie with story even though it was short, if it was longer it would've been nicer. I loved Makoto's tenacity of opposing fate and saving Hazuki in the process. 7/10. |

It was fine. The beginning was really good but it slightly went downhill as it went on. Atleast, they end up together at the end. Character designs were nice, but the overall animation was a bit weak. |

Notes from 2016: Makoto, the main male protagonist who can see men in black grim reapers. Beautiful story and romance for it's own worth. His childhood friend is about to die when a grim reaper tries to guide him into saving her, when he does he confesses his love and shows that he can change the fate of others and save them from dying. Great stuff. 7.5/10 I guess. Great. |
