Hey there!
I'm an avid manga reader and collector, using MAL as a way to catalogue the series I have read along with any anime series or movies I have seen. When it comes to taste - what I want out of a story - really, I just like to be entertained at the end of the day. If it's fun, and I had a good time watching/reading, I'll think fondly of the series.
Having seen and read a lot of this type of content, my expectations can be quite high for newer series, as for me, there is very much a "been there, done that" feeling when consuming anime/manga nowadays. In general, I feel like these mediums are extremely overdramatic and ramp up stakes to impossible heights, almost forcing emotional responses in the viewer. Sometimes, the story puts in the work to earn these stakes and when done right, anime and manga can be incredibly personally touching. However, most of the time, I do feel like if a series is not another cookie-cutter version of what has come before, it is more often than not simply manipulative in the way they portray tragedy or loss, if they aren't too busy salivating over the female figure.
But I digress... I love anime and manga. They are mediums of entertainment that have allowed me to run away from reality when I couldn't cope. They have been my emotional crutch throughout high school, and helped me forge my morals and philosophy of life as I grew up. I am older now, and do not binge in the ways I used to, and am not as easily swayed by the shiny new series - I let the bandwagon carry on without me more often than not, sometimes waiting many many, years before catching up with the fads of the past. There will always be a place in my heart for anime and manga, even if I don't keep up to date anymore. But anyways, that'll do for a bio, right? Right.
JJBA Part 3 synopsis seen in a youtube comments section:
"A man gets beheaded, kills a man, takes his body, and uses it to send shirtless selfies to the man's great-great-grandson 100 years in the future. Offended by the selfies, five grown muscular men set off on a journey to find him."
