This pair of episodes is my second favorite part of the series; the first one is episode 6.
That said those two are related as we got a nice conclusion to Atori's story with him remembering his love for the sax.
The mini-live was great. That goes for both the song and the animation (I looks so smooth)!
The backstory was also great. It both was and wasn't sad at the same time. I'm happy she was able to move on while also inspiring other people. That's the strength of idols in my opinion: inspiration. As long as they take care of themselves first of all.
The only thing that wasn't great is the briefcase-man. He both doesn't help and doesn't hurt the story.
I feel like he was only included for people like himself, that don't see the appeal of idols and would dislike the episode for that.
Maybe I have missed something, but it breaks the flow for me.
Overall 9/10

I didn't expect the song to be that good. Would love to hear the full version, if there is one.

Honestly, these past two (or three?) episodes Osoto seemed normal lol, but that shot when he smiled at Atori (on his piano chair) and when he saw Atori with Neko just reminded me that he's the character to be most wary of here. If I'm not mistaken, Osoto has been interested in Atori since he first came to the hotel. That scene is in the dining room.

The promise between Neko and Atori was sweet but it makes me anxious hahaha. I wonder which one of them is still alive...

Oh and yeah, turns out the sound is a "fragment" of the idol's mask. Not gonna lie, I'm a bit relieved that there was no criminal act here (I thought she might have been poisoned by her teammates out of jealousy) but still, it was a death that could have been prevented... if only idol culture wasn't so harsh.

The episode has been quieter than I expected; I thought Oosoto would ruin the concert somehow, but it hasn't. Still, his last comment left me with a bad feeling.

I really liked Kanekono's song, and it was great to finally see the real him. It's sad that her bandmate was really her friend, but her professionalism - pretending to be rivals for her fans - distanced them. At least she passed on the good times with her friend and helped two guests regain their identity with her song.

A song with a bass but no bass player Anime magic.
Just making a minor rib here I wish this show took the style of an anthology to mix the tales up.

Not sure what to feel about the anime original guests (the two side characters other than Kanekono). I feel like they weren't really that deep and felt kind of distracting from the flow of the episode. I do like the idea behind makeup girl being inspired by Kanekono, but maybe they could have went with just one rather than two of them. I don't think bag guy really added much. I don't even remember if their names were mentioned.

Also, the subs were off for Atori's line towards Neko in the last scene. It was supposed to be "I'll think about it, kouhai" rather than "I'll hold you to it, kouhai" which... is quite a difference I think.

Kanekono's song and performance were quite good! For an anime original song, it still had the same vibe and atmosphere as the game.

Osoto asking for an aperitif. Lol. Masterful line.

Kanekono got her little farewell concert which was pretty pleasant, I thought Osato would try something but he didn't. Though it looks like he's got something cooking up for next episode.

I did find it funny how Kanekono was on the floor choking after getting her memories back but Neko was worried about whether it would be proper to touch her back, she's truly down bad for idols.

This and the last episode were probably my two least favorite episodes of the series thus far - not to say they were bad. Just that in every single series I've ever watched I preferred some episodes to others and so logically some have to be the best/favorite, some the worst/least favorite, and some in the middle. And it's rarely, if ever, a linear proposition. Out of the nine we've had I prefer everything else - the early introductory episodes when we're really getting more introduced and used to the main characters and the setting and workings of the hotel, the Osoto-related chaos, and the ones involving more personally, to me, impactful backstories like that of the dead single mother telemarketer fraud ring operative and/or more scenes of relevant or insightful backstory and clues as to the pasts and lives on Earth of main characters such as Ruri and Atori.

But still better than most episodes of most other seasonals I'm watching, in classic Tasokare Hotel fashion. Of the duo of this and last one, the last episode was also slightly more interesting and promising because it appeared to be setting up the first half of a mystery or small set of mysteries (involving the idol woman and other guests like the work briefcase-headed man) that they didn't ultimately end up doing that much substantive with (or really realistically have sufficient time to necessarily do so unless it was going to be a multi-parter beyond the two). At least it all the while retained its signature mellow and comfy feel - this episode in particular feels like a climb down and winding down as a break before potentially ramping up erratically again in the near future. When it's calm like this though, you can understand why some guests may never want to check out and move on, at least for a long while, even if their destination is to return to their physical bodies and normal lives and affairs in the living world.

I mean, dude's a serial killer, nobody would expect something good happening after such smile,
Also aperitif means "to stimulate the appetite", so calling us the anime watchers "idiots" is a bit rude .

This arc was about idols (we got a bit of male idols even)...mind you the idealised image of that, not the brutal soul cursing reality...and idols are boring.

@alshu

Dude, you are just proving my point. For anime watchers, you can easily guess something will come next. (so that i-know-what-is-going-on-smile is there) But that event itself makes this meme so precious LMAO. Come back a few episodes later and you will laugh, or I can give spoilers?

And nobody called anyone idiots, it is just a funny foreshadowing and I wanted to create a meme. I hope you're doing well, you might need to just rest and chill sometimes <3

@alshu Yeah, it'd be weird to interpret it any way other than foreboding, so I dunno why there'd be the implication it hits different for first timers. Maybe if this is in fact the kickoff of Osoto's brand new idol career it'd fit. Absolutely do not do spoilers, though. Doing even this much in the anime reaction thread is bad form. It sucks how casually people spoil things by implication in the popular adaptation threads.

Would you like to make a bet? I can @ you again after that episode airs, if the meme hits differently this time and you happen to laugh or enjoy it in any way, you will donate to a local or international charity organization of your choice (you decide the amount). If you still find it unfunny or meaningless, I will delete the post.

The song was beautiful and they performed well. It's kind of sad seeing all those people dying with regrets and too see that there loved ones are left behind, but these is how it goes when one is stuck between life and death.

Since your interpretation of the meme is is kind of different and can change are a drop of a hat, that would be impractical...

@alshu They're not being smug about the source or implying anyone is stupid, it's just a silly inside joke. And yeah, it's obviously foreboding. You will see though.

Maybe because this happens so often in real life, this episode was especially sad.
