Damn, just two episodes in and Kaintzel has to go through his limits just to survive down in that hell hole. I think the bottom line is, this anime wants us to experience the grim world he's part of. Nonetheless, Kaintzel has much potential as a character and avenger. The depicts his feelings from the moment he expressed despair so it's nothing different here. But in a nutshell, they're not wasting time to get to juicy parts of the plot this season. |

damn kaintzel is already pushing himself so hard lol makes you wonder what else he'll face in that brutal world, the anime really wants you to feel the grim reality nice they're not dragging things out this season, he's got so much potential as a character and as an avenger wtf he's gonna be epic |

Ubel Blatt is far from a masterpiece, but it deserved a better adaptation. The animation is so choppy and they're speedrunning with the plot and story. Granted it has been a while since I read the manga. |

There are better ways to go down in history for making a noble sacrifice than to be remembered as an "attendant" to a bunch of backstabbers, but at least he died with dignity. RIP Ergnach We're gonna be wishing Koinzell finished Racheb off here while it was practically free, aren't we? |

This section managed to create a high level of excitement and also reduced some of the ambiguity from the previous part. It had a lot of bloody history, but alongside the score and visual effects, it was able to convey the intended feeling, which I enjoyed. |

It has been a while, since I've seen such awfully written antagonists. Some say a hero is as good as his enemies, so when first two episodes are going against Mr. Bad and Mr. Nasty straight from primary school writing exercise, it doesn't bode well. When you add an awful CGI dragon on top of that, I'm out. Now I wonder why I was even planning to watch it. |

Hello I'm gonna say each week what they skipped (I'm not saying anything bad or trying to be negative just info) they adapted again 4 chapters(if counting volume 0 there on 12 chapter if not on start of 9) there was an anime original scene if I'm not wrong for like 5 seconds. They skipped how the other 3 were escaping which was like 3-ish pages. They also skipped an important description about the underground passageway when Kolnzell and that bearded guy were talking and they modified some of the dialogues. |

Episode 2- UBEL SPLATT So it picks up where left off last time, in the middle of the fight with that monk dude Rascheb (whoever voices this guy is brilliant- he really owns the part) and one of the Heroic Seven guys shows up and tries to kill Koinzell but ends up sending him down through a hole in the floor and into the bottom of the monastery. I liked how Koinzell basically ignored that Abbot guy and knelt to his old friend Ernach. Then he used his sword to 'activate' the magic circle (no idea, the magic 'system' hasn't been explained but that's okay) So he releases a ton of energy and it destroys the monastery. The people then rise up, despite it being the middle of the night.... I actually appreciated the backstory in how they explained Koinzell's loyalty to his friend and the betrayal by the "Seven Heroes" The whole thing about them trying to catch a flying ship made no sense.... like why would the monks need to stop Koinzell and his new buddies from getting on it, they're supposed to be so powerful, couldn't they just halt the ship or prevent them from boarding? Then the prostitute chick, Peepi (ahahaha.. that name) and the other guy steal a smaller ship and go after it. Why? Aren't they good with the one they already have? Koinzell then follows on a dragon- that's cool- but the little scene where some merchant says "Someone stole a dragon!" was unnecessary and stupid. It didn't need explaining, showing him just flying out on a dragon was cool and I didn't care where it came from. Even though this anime is nothing like what the PV showed- it's nowhere near as grotesque- I'm liking it quite a lot. Koinzell is ADORABLE! I wanna be reincarnated as a cute elf boy! He looks harmless, but is capable. The other characters aren't fleshed out yet, but they provide company and round out the cast. This seems like a pretty standard fantasy, nothing to complain about. 5/5 |

nah man. 2 episodes in and this already has a completely different storyline from the manga. I thought by episode 2, they'd start adapting it. jsyk, Koinzell kills Kfer and Gustav in the manga but in the anime, they were his allies... terrible pacing and the CGI is horrendous. I won't drop the anime but I'll stop watching for now. |

Lmao, I am gonna stop watching this for now. There is no point in keeping up with it. 2 episodes in and the story line is entirely from the manga's. Changed everything e.g., in the manga, Köinzell killed Kfer and Gustavv but in the anime, both were allies of Köinzell and we're all killed by the 7 Heroes. Also, Ascheritt is a diff person in the manga but in the anime he is Köinzell from when he was a hero? Nah, I can't. I won't drop it but I'll stop watching for now and watch only the last episode. If I keep up with this, I'm gonna be hella confused. Animation is decent though so that's an upside. |

No it's fucking not, they are literally stated as fakes everywhere, they are not the real ones, the real ones WERE actually killed by the seven lances, the ones koinzell killed were imposters using their names to spread fear, there was even a fake ascheritt, and koinzell is indeed the real one, it feels like literally no one read much of the manga to come to that conclusion that they were real ones |

That explains the whole "Traitorous Lance Kfer" bit thing. It didn't occur to me plus I didn't pick up on the sarcasm. I thought he really DID mean what he was saying. With that taken care of, the only problem with the anime is the adaptation and pacing. It's terrible as hell. Thanks for the clarification still. |

@Antanaru Totally agree, I'm dropping the show. Really thought that this will be some good dark fantasy, but the nudity and sex is completely cut out (yet a literal child's outfit is far too sexual in ep 1 for no reason), the gore is toned down, the antagonists are terribly written and one-note, and the characters are uninteresting and irritating. Those who say, that they had to tone down violence and sex for TV are bullshitting. I didn't say they had to go full hentai, but fully cutting out scenes doesn't work. There are numerous shows that show/imply sex very clearly, or even show very disturbing sexual acts and all of them are on TV, like Goblin Slayer, Heavenly Delusion for the latter and Dome Kano for the former. So you can do that just don't make your dark fantasy PG13. Obviously, this wouldn't be the main problem in itself but it clearly shows the creators approach to the adaptation, that is cutting out content and heavily altering things to the point it doesn't make sense. |

I think this show might have pacing problems later on. While this episode was fine, I already found myself wishing certain parts would move along faster. Judging by comments from manga readers, this season could go either way. |

This episode was pretty good, they actually adapted this part of the manga pretty much straight up. I am coming to terms with the production quality and just appreciating that the manga is getting adapted. I am still worried about some of the stuff they skipped and how certain interactions that will probably come up in the next episode will not make much sense, or maybe they will do a flashback to explain it (even though I do not think it will do it justice). All in all this episode seemed to get the anime back on track and try to make up for the shortcomings of the first one. I wonder how many episodes this will be, maybe they can only do 12 episodes, so they had to cut some content. |

Even ignoring the toned down dark/censored stuff from the manga this series just seems to be too rough unless you already read the manga further ahead, feels like I'm dropped into into a storyline that's supposed to be high stakes but there was no proper build up or anything to care about what's going on. Like I'm watching an abridged/speedrun of the manga. The action scenes is a bunch of still frames and underwhelming impact with the magic attacks involved. I'm trying to give it a chance because it's usually recommended if one liked stuff like Berserk and it's nice that Amazon Prime is starting to dip their toe more anime promotions but so far ain't it. |

@CheliosX Yeah, I agree, they censored a lot of stuff to the point where I feel like they almost might as well not make the anime. Also, with the amount of content that was skipped it's almost like they only have this first season to make an impression and they are rushing to pack as much as possible into it. |

okay i watched the first episode and read all comments on the first ep discussion but reading all the comments for this episode made my fucking head die. But i dont like the loli.. peepi- horrible fucking dumbass shit name btw. Idk why they put her in like a fuckin shoe string of an outfit when she is clearly underage but whatever. Uhh the mc did cool stuff yea its hella corny but its cool, i think. reading all this talk about future characters and story problems that are going to appear in the story makes me really disappointed that it could've been something way better but again i thought it was cool even if it is really random in its pacing and overall content, as long as I dont read the comments here for the rest of the season i should be okay but, ill keep reading what yall gon be saying even if its all about how the manga is better, dude idc lemme just watch a single fucking season of anime without your dumbasses goin on and on about how the manga is better im prolly in the minority but, im defenitely not gonna go out of my way to read the manga for this at most its a 7/10 show and at the worst its a 2/10. i like it, its just kinda cringe. |

Episode 2/5 The story isn't very clear to me, I feel like this is kind of... too rushed? Kaintzel So far he has shown himself to be a very predictable character for me, since just taking the opening as a reference I could already imagine that this would be a seinen revenge story. Two episodes in and this anime so far seems predictable. It will be the typical revenge plot with a lot of gore, that is, probably something that will try to be "dark". the characters are pretty despicable and forgettable and their narrative is pretty shallow so far, mainly the "villains". Nothing seems good so far and the story isn't gripping me at all, I put too much hope into this and I feel very disappointed after these two episodes. In terms of animation, this is pretty bad, you know. The movement of the characters while fighting is very rigid and lacks fluidity, I don't like the characters' expressions either, maybe the only thing I liked was the setting. This anime is also overly full of filters in the color palettes, this helps with the setting, but it looks very strange on the characters. |

Well, as of now, of the eight new seasonals I'm watching, this is the series I'm closest to dropping (technically haven't even formally added into placement on my watching list on MAL yet). Two episodes into both, for that to be the case above Farmagia is quite an accomplishment. Yes, the novelty of receiving technically another dark high fantasy in the inhospitable desert environment for them which is the modern anime landscape is not lost on me. Yes, Peepi is a cute side piece. But as of now it's a rushed mess and bog standard very heavily budget and edited fantasy seemingly made with little care to distinguish itself, represent or explain itself, or just little effort and thought in general. Like any one of the 100,000 generic fantasy B or C movies you'd pick up as a VHS in a bargain bin for $1 or tape off cable TV at 3:00am in days of yore. |

It's a lot more kid/family-friendly than what Ubel Blatt is or at least what I'd expect it to be even with all the apparent censorship. According to others it's like the much longer, more popular, and well-known series by the same creator like Fairy Tail because of the same character designs and all that, but I honestly dropped that series after about two episodes and haven't watched his other stuff, so the comparisons are an interesting detail but have no bearing on my own personal enjoyment of it or not. To be honest, I started watching it just because the basic concept sounded something akin to Pokemon or Digimon, controlling monsters and having them do battle on your behalf, and that's different from the type of a lot of the series I usually watch so I figured worth giving a go. And because it's another non-isekai fantasy, worth it to try on that basis alone. So far it's very fast-paced (not unlike Ubel Blatt, to me anyway), but I was more convinced by the second episode than the first. Animation is lower tier with the CGI usage on the monster creatures, so a lot of it will come down to how well they flesh out the setting and develop their characters beyond cutouts. It might be the kind of series which is just good enough to watch one short (one cour) season of, and they might not go on to have anymore seasons after it anyway. And if they do go on to have more in the long run, then it might end up actually being something better than initial impressions. |

Ight this was a much better episode than the first just narrative and interest wise I’m a little more locked in now. It’s definitely edgy as fuck, but I do wanna see the 7 heroes get what’s coming to them for betraying the MC and his friends. I’m a bit confused on how he got resurrected after getting betrayed though but my interest is piqued. Animation is still ass. But the story has potential. |

@CheliosX But Koinzell is Asherit. Well sorta. Is unclear how much of him remains from the combination with the fairy. But still |

I'm still reading but others confirmed it was the real Kfer. Gustavv did as well. Well, I've said my part. The story is an anime original plot and story so there's no use in me watching it anymore since my manga knowledge will class with that of the anime and I want to avoid that.
Still gonna watch the last episode regardless.

wasnt Kfer that was killed by Köinzell an imposter?
Havent read past chapter 1, but thats what I got from it.

No, I did not say all of that to hate on it. The story line is entirely different from the manga's like I said. For people that have read or are reading the manga, watching the anime is gonna confuse the heck out of them.
That's all I'm saying.
For those that are only on the anime, it's not a problem but they should know it might cause problems later if they decide to have anything to do with the manga.
Edit: Like the manga? No, not at all. The bit about Kfer and Gustavv is entirely different in the manga. So idk what you're talking about.

.... Are you now just gonna make stuff up to hate on the anime? Not yet watched the episode, but that just sounds like what I got from the manga?

No it's fucking not, they are literally stated as fakes everywhere, they are not the real ones, the real ones WERE actually killed by the seven lances, the ones koinzell killed were imposters using their names to spread fear, there was even a fake ascheritt, and koinzell is indeed the real one, it feels like literally no one read much of the manga to come to that conclusion that they were real ones
@CrunchyCrobat the fake traitorous lances actually started by wanting to free the people from the fake heroes but... the path they chose turned them into monsters |
