Wait, no One Piece? Isn't One Piece supposed to be popular in Japan?

There are unusually many "author" seinen, but josei about bromance as the most popular manga in the male category?

@wildhood As far as I know, such ratings do not include the absolute mainstream, because it will obviously take up most of the places and will be the same throughout the years. For example, their LN ratings simply put you on the honor board and no longer include you in the ratings if your work becomes too objectively popular.

@3inPunisher What do you mean by meme in this case? I heard that the manga is quite popular and is even going to get an anime.

@RobertBobert, when Kagurabachi was first announced, people made fun of how stereotypically edgy it looked and the first chapter was, and thus starting mem'ing on how amazing the series was with barely any story out ("Kagurabachi Glazing") and the announcement picture of the main character pulling out his sword became a redraw meme.

@Fario-P So it's a JoJo-type logic where a title gets an extra bust thanks to unintentional meme value? When I read the news about this title, it just seemed like another edgy battle shonen to me. But if it is really popular, I hope that I can safely invest in it and it won't end up like JJK or MHA.

I hope this leads to those aren't translated in English yet to be translated.

Looks like Shiina Karuho's new manga is doing well. It's nice to see since she has been only doing Kimi ni Todoke for so long.

@RobertBobert it is just another edgy battle shounen about revenge and all that jazz. jojo has memable moments throughout with how over-the-top the world is, whereas kagurabachi started as a meme (the glazing) and now people act like it's unironically good because edgy protagonist always looks cool.

@ryzxgum Well, apparently, the edgy battle shonens trend doesn't even think about ending and in the coming years we will get either this or a dramedy about a double life like Oshi no Ko/Spy x Family/Sakamoto Days.

@RobertBobert better than edgy better shounen as long as it's executed well enough but i barely even think of oshi no ko that way since it was all over the place and spy x family which keeps doing filler-esque episodic chapters instead of advancing the plot. more than anything, there's too many series revolving around exorcists nowadays.

@ryzxgum I think it's pointless to talk about the ending of Oshi no Ko, but from what I can see, the anime is still very popular. Or at least things haven't yet had time to affect its popularity. Otherwise, as far as I remember, the author of Spy x Family has always been honest that this is a commercial project and not a passion manga, so I wouldn't be surprised if he's just doing things his way.

When you talk about exorcists, are you talking about the action version of youkai anime like JJK?

some of them, there's also gag ones like yokai buster murakami which just got axed very recently. besides that, there's ultimate exorcist kiyoshi, oversleeping takahashi, nue's exorcist and kyokute necromance which are all pretty recent series. you can even tell what they are from the titles lol.

@ryzxgum It’s even as if their names were created according to some formula.
