Back home it is.

The "Kento" girls... LOL. Soon enough Ayane you will become a Kento girl. I'm starting to like Miura a bit now. Still don't fully like him, but how bad can he truly be if he's willing to help out our girl Ayane. Ayane aside, damn the whole thing with Chizu and Ryuu was intense, but maybe ending their relationship like that will push Ryuu to really go after Chizu or make them both realize what they truly want.

I'm glad that they're giving the other characters some development that isn't Kazehaya and Sawako. Kazehaya such a real one for going to check up on Chizu to help out Ryuu. We got some backstory for these two finally as well. And man was Chizu one hell of a kid lol. Had her poor mom stressing. But my fuck, Joe can't do nothing right. Real men cried when he stepped on Ryuu's rice ball.

Though that seeing Joe step on that rice ball was the saddest thing we would see this episode, but fuck. To think that we'd see auntie die in this backstory. We knew her for less than an episode yeah, but you can feel that this affected all of them. Seeing Chizu cry is one thing, but seeing Ryuu cry.... :(

One of the best Kimi ni Todoke episode's. Right in the feels with this one. At least we got a happy ending with Sawako getting to spend Chirstmas with not just Kazehaya, but EVERYONE!

Mind your beeswax godammit Kento. I still haven't forgiven you for how you mucked everything up in season 2.

This is what I was looking forward to the most when S3 was announced... more Chizu/Ryu content! As much as I love Sawako, Chizuru and Ryu were always the pair that I shipped the most in this series. IMO the Chizu arc in S1 is what really sets the show apart from other romance anime. The expansion of their backstory was really well done in this episode - we got a lot of new insight into how their current relationship came to be, and they wove in a lot of callbacks from seasons 1/2 that felt organic to the story and not like fan appeasement. I like that there are realistic, character driven motivations for why Chizu and Ryu haven't become a couple.
Did they ever mention Ryu's mother in the first seasons? I don't remember it at all if they did. Anyway, that part was very emotional and totally unexpected.
All in all, this episode was peak Kimi ni Todoke, as good as anything the show has ever done. I really hope the season can come through with a strong finish, but to me it's already surpassed any expectations that I had going in.

Kento having a fan club harem is killing me man 😭 they’re like the sisterhood of travelling Kento stans. Honestly he’s stolen the show so far this season. I would never have expected him to be so emotionally intelligent and a genuinely great dude.

Yea, he was an asshole in season 2 but there’s so much more to his character and we’ve only really just scratched the surface I feel like. His interactions with Ayane are so sweet and I love how he makes her all giddy and awkward

Ryu and Chizuru backstory was heartbreaking but their shared grief is what unites them and a driving force behind their love story. Finally it’s time to start something new and enter a new phase of their relationship! Ryu’s mom would be happy

And kazehaya and Sawako finally back on good terms! Can’t wait for the Christmas party

Ok damn the kento-girls are more wholesome than I expected. So basically Kento just their guy best friend they can be friends with and vent or just talk to and have fun besides their boyfriends etc. He's an idol that supports them I guess? They don't mind if he dates someone either. Pretty non toxic.

Man Ryu is so so awesome. Like 99% of the guys in manga/anime I've seen in a similar situation almost never end well. She loved your brother, she sees you as a sibling, she wants to maintain the best friend sibling situation forever, and she never saw you like that before. Like all of this combined but Ryu doesn't let any of it hold him back from breaking the stalemate situation because he loves her and he wants things to change. He's not just stupid either. He knew he loved her but that his brother didn't so he waited for her to finally get fully rejected, helped her in times of need, always was there for her to lend a shoulder and ears, and is willing to confess to break the relationship they had so they can begin a new one despite knowing she didn't think of him as a romantic option before. If only if all Rom-com MC's can be half a man Ryu is. Like most childhood friend love in anime just don't work out in the first place there's always so much misunderstandings, holding back, etc that messes with the timing so they don't end up together.

Ryu's mom was also just as if not more awesome. Her death hit me harder than isekai trucks who send people to another world. Like I just knew her but I love her so much. Ryu and her both great characters. Everyone really is.

Shipping Ayano x Kento. Can't believe Kento got Ayano all flustered and giddy~

I cried buckets watching what happened to Ryu and how Chizu was there for him. But man, Ryu is one manly dude. "Let's end it. And start something new."

Dang.

Each episode keeps getting better. Of the two previous seasons, I liked the first one more, simply because it also developed other characters like Chizuru, Ryuu, or Kurumi (by the way, what happened to her?). What this season is doing with so few episodes is incredible.

I officially declare myself a Kento x Ayane fan. It's possible Ayane might even join Kento's fan club; by the way, I've never seen a healthier fan club than Kento's.

What happened with Chizuru and Ryuu was beautiful. Since the first season, I knew Ryuu was a great character because, despite accepting that Chizuru didn't like him back, he never stopped liking her. But seeing their deeper past, especially their relationship with Ryuu's mother, who barely appeared and yet made me cry, was heartbreaking. And seeing how the onigiris Chizuru gave to Ryuu improved each day, culminating in both of them crying, completely destroyed me. I can't wait for them to be together.

And Sawako and Shouta are no longer so tense around each other. Plus, they'll be spending Christmas together, and I hope something good happens.

kento x ayane is honestly a very pleasant surprise to me. ayane has had relationships with people who don't treat her as a person, they treat her as an object and ask her out just because she's attractive. kento seems to actually see her as she is and listens to what she has to say. I always had a feeling they would be a relationship option but I'm happy with how it all played out so far!

chizu and ryu's backstory had me holding back tears and when they broke down crying... lord I couldn't hold back. not me crying over kimi ni todoke in the year of our lord 2024 😭

I reeeeeally hope there's some focus put on our main couple because their romantic tension is so addictive and I want more. i love that the other cast members are getting attention but at the same time... damn, KISS ALREADY! close your eyes and count to 5 girlie

to add, kazehaya has a bit more of a personality in this season which I thought he lacked in the original seasons. I want him to get developed more

Kento and Sousoke from Skip to Loafer remind me of each other. Its probably the cute messy blonde hair.

Why tf is Kazekaya being so weird around Sawako? So does Ryu have the tism? (being half serious) but poor Chizu had a crush on Ryu's brother who was 9 years older than him. Ryu's always been a sweet boy to Chizu and she never realized it, its crazy. Damnit Chizu, stop denying your love for Ryu. I never realized Ryu had such a sad backstory, his mom passed away after trying to pick up Ryu. I can't imagine how guilty Ryu feels about that because its hard to not blame yourself especially being as young as he was. She treated Chizu like her daughter.

Chizu was a riot xD Well, she still got that tomboy energy.

Here we go again, this backstory turned on the waterworks 🤧 It did a great job at showing how deep the bond between Chizu and Ryu is and why she's struggling so hard with her feelings. Ryu however had the perfect answer " Let's start something new"

Loved it. Also, the ED has to be my favorite.

Kento becomes more likeable with each episode btw.

Last episode had the school trip, now it's December already and Christmas is around. Props to Sawako's dad, it surely didn't look easy to let her go. It could be smooth sailing from here if Kazehaya didn't fumble it(?)

Speaking of dad's. Makes sense that Kazehaya's father was Ryu's coach, it was still a lol moment whent I noticed.

Because Ryu doesn't show his feelings in an obvious way, people don't realize when he's sad. At best, they just assume anger.

I can see why Chizuru is sad about Ryu liking her. If I were her, I'd also second guess a guy that was my best friend for the longest time, but it turns out that he had a crush on me. That'd make me question our entire relationship, and if he was nice because he was truly my friend, or if he was just nice because he had a crush on me.

Ayana panicking about almost becoming a Kento girl was hilarious. So was Joe stepping on Ryu's rice ball. I flinched at that and felt bad for Ryu, but it's just funny to see Joe just messing up again.

It‘s such a beautiful and amazing episode! I didn’t expect the backstory with Ryu and Chizu. It also supported the siblings relationship between them, they were there for each other 🥹

Wow, this episode was great! I've enjoyed getting back into the show after more than a decade, but this was the first real episode where the absolute innocent and sincere charm shined through. Even the side characters of Chizu and Ryu have so much life to them. Did I tear up multiple times this episode. Yes, I admit that I did. I loved every minute of it.

I have some vague idea of what's coming and I can barely contain myself from watching the next episode immediately. Kimi ni Todoke really is such a gem!

This episode is both heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. After reading this part in the manga I was really looking forward to seeing it animated.
I'm so glad that season 3 has turned out to be just as faithful an adaptation to the manga as the first 2 seasons were, even with a gap of over 10 years. Also the timing for this release was great, as I only finished the manga and watched the first 2 seasons about a year ago and the storyline is still most fresh in my mind (the 15 minute recap brought it all back easily enough).
Really trying to savor these last couple episodes, as I'm sure it'll be a good 2 years until season 4 as long as it gets greenlit by Netflix. Here's hoping!

Ahhh, this episode was beautiful, filled with emotions and incredibly deep. I already knew, of course, that Chizuru was close to Ryu, but this one-hour episode explored it so well—the complexity of feelings within a friends-to-lovers relationship. The main highlight of the episode was these two, but of course, Ayane and Sawako also had their moments. I didn’t realize how much I needed this third season, but I really did!! It’s been perfect!

I tried to watch this episode all in one go, but the second act (which, if this had been done properly, would have been episode 8) was too hard hitting, so I had to put the third act off until the next day.

They're really cutting through the BS this time and going in for the emotional gut punches.
