The season finale didn't really dive much into bartender content but rather in a novelist. I know this show has more of the nonlinear plot so it works out that way.

Even in the final episode, Ryuu maintains his usual persona and wisdom. Don't think he changed much throughout this series but he represents the protagonist really well.

One last drink.

The newly popular novelist Kurosawa Junichirou secluded himself in Cardinal's room to work on his next manuscript but found himself struggling with writer's block. A maid had found a crumpled manuscript papers with last will written on them were discovered in the room. Later, Miwa arrives at Eden Hall to ask Ryuu if he had seen Kurosawa. During this time, Kurosawa arrives at Eden Hall.

What a weird story to pick for the last episode. Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with it, but still I would've thought they would ended it like the OG, but this was fine too. Whole thing with Kurosawa was pretty sweet. Glad to see his next story will be about Ryuu. But to think that Taizou would have some brandy hidden in his cane.. lmaooo. But in the end, Ryuu finally moved to the hotel, or rather his home, Eden Hall did. And I'm, pretty sure that song they played at the end was the ED of the OG... playing with my emotion fuck.

Though I think the OG did some things better, this remake ultimately still captured that vibe of the OG, and that's all that matters.

Miwa's grandfather Taizo may have given them a scare of his fall, and the young novelist of Kurosawa Junichiro's novel manuscript titled "Will", he primarily comes to Hotel Cardinal and its high-rise bar to help blow off steam from expectations, and that doesn't even feel enough...which is why Miwa had him invited over to Ryu's bar to get some solace and at the same time, make an inspection of how he's like outside of the professional world. Piquing curosity, Ryu offers Kurosawa a Sledgehammer, offering advice that he would otherwise not really take, to have a better outlook of life.

Taizo meeting Ryu on the wayside, and him making brandy for Ryu on the spot while letting the latter have his own flare as a bartender, And for the recuperation exercise activity, both men playing a game of catch with baseball, both have similar kindred spirits of having lost loved ones, yet live to see the bright future as it comes.

Hotel Cardinal's bar, rather than making it one, shifting Eden Hall onto its premises would make the most sense for Ryu to continue serving his Glass of Gods to lift people's souls.

A good reboot of a classic series, it's literally the definition of Iyashikei.

Sleeper hit anime of the season. Better than I wouldve expected, and very chill to watch with nice characters too. Finale isn't quite a fitting 'finale' for this entry but I still enjoyed this tons.

Relaxing, soothing and at times emotionally hard hitting.

Watching the observation of human behaviors, how drinks were made as reminder of regrets rather than to forgo and forget and learning about the story and history of a specific drink is a personal highlight of this series.

The last bit of lore at the end was just perfect.

Nice finale to a very relaxing and sweet show, as expected Ryuu went to run the bar at the hotel and it was great to see the Edenhall name being transferred there as well.

Previous episode is better. This episode is quite a chaos. The first half is trying to be suicide prevention hotline and just failed horribly. What a way to destroy the whole vibe in the final episode.

The end of the weekly opening a cold one on wednesday. After learning Sasakura worst nightmare a few episodes ago, we get to see him shine, the adversity he had made him able to use his vocal and bartender skill to save a life, very nice. A very great insert song at the end, it was a chill anime and seeing all of the characters coming to the opening of Edenhall v2 is a nice touch.

That is, in the end they decided to be guided by the idiom about the mountain and Mohammed and simply moved Edenhall to their hotel in order to get Sasakura along with it. Original move.

I don’t understand where they got such a strange explanation of Nikolashka’s origins. It is called that only because he is considered the author of such a tradition of drinking cognac. But otherwise a pretty relaxing and educational series. I'm not a big cocktail drinker, but I was interested in working as a bartender. So the show was quite educational and interesting for me. I love working adult shows that don’t try to jump over their head and at the same time respect the viewer and their topic.

No-surprises ending, with the usual tenderness and awkwardness.

Clumsy setup (Miwa sees novelist at hotel, Sasakura brings up novelist out of the blue, novelist walks in), a vaguely-connected collection of bite-sized wisdom and trivia (something something keep on living, tragedy of getting what you want, professionalism is hard, etc.), and somehow it works out in the end ("saved in this underground paradise").

I'm guessing this is how Sasakura's "arc" is resolved, because this time he saved someone from suicide. Which is just... simplistic and unconvincing to me.

Miwa's grandfather and Sasakura playing catch was sweet, but it also didn't quite make sense. I didn't get the impression that the two were building towards a father-son kind of relationship, or even that close for that matter. I guess Sasakura helping him come to terms with his deceased son in the previous episode brought them closer together?

The ending conversation about the memories of bar patrons and the English fairy tale of Edenhall didn't quite work for me, either. So fairies left behind a glass that will keep bringing good fortune to Edenhall. That means they should keep calling Sasakura's bar Edenhall...?

It's all so hazy and lukewarm. It's frustrating, because it constantly felt like the show's onto something and is about to become really great. It never did, and this is the last time I can vaguely vent about it.

The cocktail hour has finally come to a close with Ryuu finally accepting the job with the condition of keeping Edenhall name. This anime was very soothing as a hidden gem for Spring 2024. Here's to hoping that Drops of God gets an anime adaptation too as that series focuses more on the different types of wine. Raise your glasses as the drinks are on the house tonight.

Not bad for a remake.

It was a fitting final episode to the season.

As we saw with Kawakami, bartending is a job with a beginning but no end.
Even if the season concludes and Sasakura moves on to a new bar, nothing has ended, only something new has begun.
Edenhall has not closed, just moved to a new location together with the memories and emotions of each and every one of its customers.
So there was no better way to close out this chapter of our Bartender's life, than with one more Kami no Glass for the people it has helped.

Let's make a toast to the (in my opinion) best new* anime of the Spring 2024 season and pray for a continuation.

And just like that japan could avoid so many suicides. Just station people like Sasakura at the end of every street there is.. they'd whisper something in your ears, which would most likely be presented to you as a fact, and then.. yeah, job done. Oh sorry you'll have to drink as well xD

Anyway, he accepted the job. Though for the better part of this series Sasakura was working for them either way, so a formal establishment I guess. Series was decent enough, or it would've been, if it focused on drinks and drinks alone, and not "Your quote of the week".

Also, the character models were like carbon copies of each other lol, especially any male character, minus Sasakura. Still anyways, fine.

Since I have already watched the original anime from 2006 from Bartender, I was very happy to hear that there is now a remake of the anime, as I already liked it very much. I'm definitely pleasantly surprised by the remake, as it's completely different from what I was expecting. But I definitely found the development positive.
Once again, I learned a lot about cocktails and their meaning. I'll probably try out one or two of the recipes myself. I've definitely enjoyed watching this anime over the last twelve weeks and I actually thought it was even better than the original.
The cozy atmosphere was again captured very well with nice background music and the opening and ending also fit the series very well. I wish there was an Eden Hall in my area so that I could let my worries out there too.

The anime is definitely a successful 8/10 for me.

I thought the ending was kind of lame. I feel like Edenhall loses its magic if it's in a hotel versus a dingy corner of Ginza. This episode was a bit on the lower end for me, but I can't say I'm disappointed with the show. Hopefully it gets a season two, but I'm very doubtful.

Calling this show mediocre would be like giving it too much praise. Even the cheesiest battle shonen titles or edgy seinen ones can't hold a candle to how much pretentiousness this show exuded in 12 episodes.

I seriously don't now who this show was aimed to? Fans of cheesy drama or melodramatic stories? Booze hounds that can only recognize alcohol brands? I seriously don't see much value aside the decent animation on most episodes. Most stories presented were incredibly shallow and poised towards cry porn with each and every one getting a solution thanks to a pep talk and some magical drink served by a wikipedia bot that has no real understanding of human feelings. Just for some mysterious reason his life behind the counter serves to preach on people and nothing more.

If at least some of Sasakura's rants had a leg to stand on, like Frieren did with all her flashbacks that served as a key for the climax of each episode. Imagine if the bartender was someone in their 50s with a big part of his life spent overseas doing different odd jobs and meeting new people that actually provide his knowledge and experiences, rather than just read a passage from the wiki and let the fools think he's some sort of genius.

There were some strange motifs and stories that got no where, like Sasakura's poor skil to use smartphones, or what was the point of the old chairman to end up in a hospital when he was just fine, or even Yukari's vapid engagement that didn't change her character at all.

I'll do give it some compliment, at least a couple of it's stories weren't that bad, like the initial story of Chen and also Kitakata before and after getting his own shady bar.

This time. Sasakura was able to save the life of one of his customers. This shows his growth and dedication as a bartender.

I am specifically happy that he was able to maintain the name of Edenhall after accepting the offer. Sasakura got what he wanted in the end, and that is all that matters.

It has been a beautiful, relaxing, and emotional anime. It made me reflect a lot and enjoy a moment of pure tranquility thanks to the music and Sasakura's kind words.

Each story and each drink immersed me in the situation in a very pleasant way. Without a doubt, one of the best I've seen despite its short length.

I do think this is the end, it’s been a long while since I’ve read the manga and they did cut off a huge chunk of characters and arcs (which is why the ending might seem a little lackluster, it looks like he agrees quite easily), but the ending was pretty much that. Ryu finally accepts the offer (after heavy bargaining) to work at the hotel, and proving to himself that he was able to save a person with the glass of god. Since they’ve concluded the main plot point of the anime it’s very doubtful they would make a second season.

Manga spoilers… kinda? Ahead:

  • The chapters from the source material are as follows.

    • the segment before OP: ch.86
    • part-A: ch.79
    • part-B: ch.57 (Eedenhall), ch.58 (Nikolaschka, plate/counter), ch.85 (catch ball)

  • You may think it's unlikely that the writer comes Edenhall by chance. Actually, it's a story after the bar moved to the hotel in the source material.
  • It's not a bad idea to install rescue mission in the last episode. By doing so, the protagonist's trauma and "what is the glass of god?" question are solved.
  • Part-B is a patchwork of some episodes. The anime team would have worked hard to make a finale. Incidentally, Edenhall moved to the hotel with "bar counter" in the source material. (Of course, the small shop plate would have been moved together.)
  • cocktail of this week: sledgehammer, Nikolaschka
  • Though it seems sledgehammer is served with or without ice, I think the function of short cocktail glass and ice doesn't match well.
  • The show is one of sleepers of this season for me (and probably for certain percentage of the audience here). Another one is Tonbo that has got momentum from the middle.

Honestly, I think I would've liked the show more if it was just Ryu serving a cool cocktail to a random guest every episode, lol. I like the start of the show a lot more than the middle and end and the Chen episodes especially I just didn't like at all. I think a "cocktail of the week" show would probably also have run out of steam after about 6 episodes so they needed to do something more character-based but I think this show is rather mediocre for the effort.

The first on-going anime I've finished this season.

Finally, Sasakura Ryuu made a Glass of God that is able to save a soul, and he accepts the offer and keeps the Eden Hall name to start a new journey of it.

I'm actually kinda sad because this show can't keeps the motif they want to aim here—or maybe, they don't even have anything like that since the beginning. It makes the ending feels like it lacks of something. The early episodes were promising but it becomes pretty lame as the show continues. Too bad because I expect more from it, yet they can't do the bare minimum for the story telling aspect.

Well, at least I think this anime is indeed relaxing and got this charm for giving chills in a special way. Like an anime that would be perfect to watch near your bedtime. Now I'm curious with Ryuu's Father since he mentions him in some part before the ending comes.

Wow, yikes. That scene with the writer was unintentionally funny.

I honestly forgot that this was the last episode, or that at least they'd dedicate the whole episode to this story, since it's literally the main character's one major conflict in the show. That writer's suicidal ideation got resolved REAL quick, like unbelievably quick. The show must've realized that this was jarring and may confuse some viewers, as Miwa then explains exactly what happened by saying "The Glass of God saved a guest's soul".

This show was a good watch overall, but wow did they really flop on the ending.

Ryuu saved a life this time and finally accepted the job at the lounge bar. It was really great to see everyone again. Sad we didn't see any Keiko focus again but it's understandable given the animes nature. Pretty much satisfied with the content of the season and the only thing I want to see happen is the ship sail so certainly would like another season.
