Nice to see Shiori has found a new friend for herself.

In the university library, Shiori meets Satoshi Takahasi, a medical student, and starts receiving help with her studies from him. Satoshi has been researching the local legend of "turning young again" that has been passed down for generations. One day, his grandparents, Hajime and Setsu, suddenly turned young again, so he takes Shiori to see them.

Aw, the poor kids were worried about our little couple. Don't worry, you two—they're not dead, if that's even possible. And then there's Ine... she actually outbiked a Shinkansen. A SHINKANSEN. I have to say tho, the twist about there being multiple golden apples adds an interesting layer. I wonder where they'll take that plot point.

Playing the tsundere game, eh, Shiori?

Shiori found a lover she just needs to sort out her own feelings.
And there are others who turned young which was nice to watch, the rivalry between the wives was funny.
Also liked the part where Mino's father was worried despite his past.

Based referee grandpa just saying it like it is.

Just getting more Shiori focus was awesome enough but finally giving her her own special someone and adding to the golden apple lore was the show practically spoiling us like grandparents doting on a grandkid

Definitely shipping Shiori & Satoshi and Mino & Shouta, and now there are two sets of young grandparents!! I love that they all met up, literally all of them are adorable. Both Grandmas bragging about their husbands were so cute, the competition made me feel a little bad for that poor pair of Grandpas 😂😅

Let’s goo a shiori episode. Mino is great but I missed Shiorin! Who would’ve thought there was more old-young grandparents in the wild 😂 . A lot less fanservice-y this week but good nonetheless

I need someone to brag about me one day like the grandmas were bragging about their husbands today. Didn’t expect it to turn into a full blown competition lol. Ine did all that yapping about gramps better not lose etc and she messed him up in the tug of war lmao.

Mino got her man, now Shino just gotta keep developing things with her senpai. It was sweet seeing her future self thru grandma’s eyes, I don’t like that ominous warning with the hourglass tho.. please don’t break our hearts

I'm actually kinda glad that they've only told their family members that they can turn young again at will, and kept it a secret from everyone else like those two unnamed schoolboys that simply pass through the orchard path. This is a lot more believable if this sort of supernatural thing ever did come to fruition (pun intended) instead of say, if they announced it to the world with nothing to gain from it.

Just like when grandpa was still super buff when he became old again in the previous episode, this time grandma's muscles for endurance cycling are apparently still young after she turned old again.

It's surprising to see that our main family, the Saito couple, weren't the only ones who had a chance encounter with a golden apple. Apparently, it happens every few hundred years in that area, and thus, other elderly seniors like the Takahashi couple came upon a golden apple by luck as well. Although the difference with them was that their original hair color came back the first time around, and it's still unknown if they also see the hourglass/ can flip it over to change back and forth like the Saito couple can...maybe they were originally slightly younger than the Saito couple to begin with. It's nice that Shiori now has a partner that she pairs up nicely with (and likely future lover), with both of their family circumstances being the same and all.

Grandpa's friend Matsunosuke sure is quick on the uptake and immediately jumps into the ref role. When his wife came with food and heard what he said, the whole group became 3x as more wholesome.

Seeing that flash-forward of an older married Shiori cooking, then granma's comment after looking at the hourglass...I don't like where this is going. I'm not ready for that...it's too soon!

Shiori finally found love, and by a strange coincidence, her grandparents rejuvenated as well. However, I am intrigued as to why they got the apple, as Ine and Shouzou received their apple from the tree they helped. Also, the Takahashis' hair is still gray.

In any case, the episode was fun, especially watching the couples competition, but it is clear that the final winner was Matsunosuke.

I guess Mino and Shouta aren’t the only young couple of the show, because Shiori ended up finding herself a romantic interest as well with Satoshi, we haven’t gotten much on Satoshi yet so it’s hard to say if it’s a good ship or not but I’d never turn away from more Shiori content, so I look forward to seeing how things develop between these two. I also liked that glimpse of Shiori in the future from Ine’s POV, that was cool but it was also sad because of what Ine said about not being able to see her like that, that hits pretty hard.

But Shiori and Satoshi aren’t the only new couple this episode, we also met Satoshi’s grandparents, Hajime and Setsu, and they’ve also turned young again, a bit surprising to see this happen with another old couple but it’s a welcome addition, I really enjoyed their moments in this episode like the husband competition, also Setsu is a babe ngl, maybe the gilf fetish is being unlocked lol. Real MVP of that competition was Matsunosuke tho, lots of respect for that man.

More screentime for Shiorin. We look like we have our 3rd pairing. A bit too early to judge as we’ve only seen 1 episode but man just like shouta, satoshi sounds like a good kid, wanting to take care of his grandparents who took care of him.

Loved the grown up POV from ine-san but it is also quite sad with the realisation that they dont have much time left.

Geez this show, its funny one minute, and next minute it tugs at your heartstrings.

Lol didn't expect Nobuyuki Hiyama and Yuu Kobayashi to be casted as the other grandparents. So it's basically Kisuke Urahara (Bleach) and Nodoka Miyazaki (Negima!/UQ Holder!) vs Ikaku Madarame (Bleach) and Setsuna Sakurakaza (Negima!/UQ Holder!) lol.

And wait, they're already gonna adapt the festival on the next episode? I thought they would keep that for the last since it's a serious story arc about

So are they going to end the anime with anime-original ending?

@kisip123 Yeah, he's much more open about how he cares about his grandparents, the polar opposite of Shiori.

And yeah, even great grandparents in good shape have to come to terms that they likely won't see their great grandkids reach adulthood like they do for grandkids and their own kids. Not sure of the gaps in time, because it seems the more recent the generation, the later they have kids, so Shouzo and Ine may have only become great grandparents in their late 60s or so (which is still younger than some)

@MahiaErebeaNegi If the manga is still kind of going (monthly are weird in how they can stretch things out longer), maybe an anime original ending was the best compromise? Or the author has the ending in mind and we're getting there a bit early, jumping over? Hopefully better than We Never Learn, which basically just left us with, "Hey maybe Uruka will end up with Nariyuki, but we're leaving it ambiguous).

I can think of some other series where I read the source material before and then they just kind of go a different route. Sometimes it's okay, like the first Tokyo Ghoul season when it goes to Root A, but then Tokyo Ghoul Re just blitzed past so much in the second half

@MahiaErebeaNegi Also, is the one scene in the opening in winter where they're carrying something for a festival actually referring to something in the manga or is it more something that's in openings that's not actually present anywhere in the material? First time I saw it, was dumbfounded, but also very amused

@MahiaErebeaNegi Yeah, doesn't seem like it'd happen at the moment given the season, but it feels like something that could've happened in the manga at some point.

Shiori finally found someone she's into, another couple who found a golden apple that turns them young, great episode, their contest about which husband is the better husband was fun to watch but the matter was settled by the referee so it ended in a draw though he did make a good point, Shiori really is a tsundere always trying to hide her true feelings.

A friendly competition between both couples to determine who's the better husband. Turns out the refs is a wholesome guy who sets things straight.

Shiori meeting someone at her university studying on regression, it's just like Shouzou and Ine, and she wants to study medicine so that she could better both their lives. Too bad that this overheard by Shouzou enough to put a crying smile on his face.

Yoshiaki getting bad vibes about his daughter being rebellious, Mino's just clearly hanging out more with Shouta. As for the same kids who pass by Shouzou and Ine's orchard seeing their elderly selves, they thought that both are gone, though it's just a swivel of the hourglass to turn back to their old selves for the time being. And this creates a problem where Mino forgot Ine's lunch, and has to brute force her way with the regular bicycle to send her lunch.

Shiori seeing that Satoshi Takahashi's family got the golden apple treatment just like Shouzou and Ine, it feels eerily similar that his grandparents also regressed, so she attempts to meet his grandparents for Shouzou and Ine as well, making the 4 of them peas in a pod. Maybe we'll have Shiori and Satoshi together as a couple too? Her wanting to learn how to cook, it's clear that she has feelings for Satoshi, and wants to make her effort for him, it's noticeable.

A couple wife fight between the Saitou and Takahashi grandparents to see which husband is the best, both Shouzou and Hajime really got the bad boot of the challenges. But I have to admit that it's very entertaining having the husbands figure out their wives in terms of strength, taste (between Ine and Hajime) and brains, which Matsunomake has no choice but to lay out the truth, also as a married elder. What a man, I completely respect Matsunomake a lot now.

What a wild episode, all in good proportions.

Many cute moments for this episode!!

- We finally meet the guy with Shiori in the OP. So it is an upperclassman taking medicine and a loving grandson to his grandparents who turned young too! The two unique couples immediately hit it off haha
- The stories of the other couples getting together is nice - so Yoshiaki was a former delinquent who met Kaede because she is a nurse. Setsu meeting her husband at her workplace because he defended her from disrespectful customers. Hajime and his traditional clothing ohh very cool (look away, Setsu-san... hahaha)
- Two students worried over the old couple they haven't seen for a while. So cute ><
- Best husband contest??? The wives' intention to flex their partners immediately got derailed with their overexcitement. Shozo frantically calling for his friend Matsunosuke was funny. Love the 3 couple picnic at the end. Long lasting love is always touching to see :')
- Ine imagining Shiori as a married woman and thinking that she will not be able to see her like that AAAARRRRR that got me... Shiori initiating to cook for someone ohoho

Another grandparents that turned young after eating a golden apple. This time it is the Takahashi family. Their grandson, Satoshi is a 2nd year medical student researching this phenomena and happened upon Shiori in the library. So she met his grandparents and introduced them to hers.
