Well, I guess I can tolerate Ruka slightly better than some of the previous episodes.

On a more rare occasion, we get to see Chizuru's grandma show up. Unfortunately, this episode took a darker turn when she fell. Someone her age falling is very dangerous and Chizuru's reaction says it. I've never seen her so shocked before. This episode turned into quite a scare imo.

Nice to see this again after the delay. Yea being friend zoned at this point sure would suck. Ruka's declaration sure was a scary one. Dreams are always a double edged sword. Its unfortunate that their outing had such a serious ending. I really do hope that Granny Sayuri does pull through and that they are able to see the film together.

NOOOOO, Sayuri-Obaa-chan 😢

Whenever there’s a deadline given like today with the movie it’s always a red flag with elderly or sick characters. Really hate that Sayuri is in this position. Especially after Kazuhito died untimely, it would really be sad if Chizuru doesn’t have either parent or grandparent there to see her film’s debut.

Some very impressive emotional maturity from Kazuya in the moment recognising that it’s not about him, but about Chizuru and her grandmother rn. Love all the strides he’s taken this season. He may have his flaws but he’s doing his best to get better. Can’t wait to see what he thought of at the last minute there.

I totally agree with him about being honest and telling Sayuri the truth. I’d rather be honest if this is the end than let her die with a lie. There’s no way she’s going to be upset at her granddaughter or hate him. She’s seen his true character. Ultimately it should be Chizuru’s decision since that’s her grandmother, though.

All the sad stuff at the end of the episode really overshadowed what was a very cheery and happy first half. Chizuru getting jealous of Ruka calling Kazuya by name was cute and Yaemori was hilarious as usual too.

Probably one of the best episodes of the season so far, because Kazuya is showing some semblance of emotional maturity. Deadlines for these types of things are the worse, and with Granny Sayuri in peril, that has to be crushing for them. Mini segment at the beginning was good too. Liked the slower ED this time, fits the tone way more.

Mini eagerly anticipated celebrating Kazuya and Chizuru's night together but was left disappointed when nothing significant occurred, only awkward tension. It seemed unusual for two 20-year-olds in a hotel room. Then, during a heartfelt moment between Sayuri and her late husband's memory, she suddenly collapsed. This tragedy coincided with Kazuya and Chizuru growing closer.

The situation grew grimmer in the hospital, with Sayuri's condition worsening, and Chizuru maintaining her composed demeanor while likely struggling emotionally. Kazuya, caught between his emotions and their non-romantic relationship, found it challenging to console her. Should they finally reveal the truth to Sayuri before it's too late, given that their "fake" relationship had become more genuine? And did they manage to finish editing the movie for Sayuri to see?

The ending took on a somber tone, with Chizuru in a yukata holding fading fireworks, symbolizing the fading sparks of hope.

Damn man, really hate to see this happen to Grandma Sayuri, I had a feeling it was coming after she said it was like she had already seen the movie but still pretty upsetting after she’s been such a wholesome grandma and was one of the reasons the movie was even made, Kazuya seemed to have a plan there at the end and it probably involves a bit of the movie. Also at first when Kazuya was talking about telling her the truth as she’s on her deathbed I thought this was the wrong place and wrong time, but he did make a good point about how Mizuhara felt about leaving things this way, I’m honestly not sure what the best option is lol.

But this episode wasn’t all depression, the first half was quite goofy with Yaemori reappearing after she tried setting up Kazuya and Mizuhara, it was pretty funny how she assumed they smashed lol. And Ruka showing up out of nowhere always makes for some funny interactions, Ruka has shown no signs of letting up with the girlfriend stuff either. And lastly, wow that ballad version of the ED was nice and very fitting for the episode, I wonder if it was just for this episode or if we’ll see it again, wouldn’t be upset if it was just the new ED but I do love the original as well lol.

This episode had ups and downs, wow. First it was up and a little entertaining when Mini thought Kazuya had scored with Chizuru and then Ruka showing up and saying out loud how her and Kazuya should take a shower together lol.

But the second half with Chizuru's grandma, I was not expecting her to collapse. She's not dead yet so hopefully she can/will recover. I do agree with Kazuya about being honest with Chizuru's grandma but it looks like it will be up to Chizuru to tell her (I mean at this point it looks like Chizuru may have put Kazuya in the friend zone anyways).

Best thing about this season so far is that there's zero Mami-chan... (other than putting her in the opening for some reason). If they change that suddenly I'm going to be very disappointed.

"Take off your clothes Mizuhara" - made my day :D but then Chizuru's composure ruined it as much... Chizuru should start act more like Natsukawa, Aika from Yumemiru Danshi wa Genjitsushugisha. Even more! Chizuru knows she loves Kazu-kun already, she should take a fight with Ruka head on!

btw is it me or did animation mostly of Yaemori change to worse? but she is still the best! I would love to have a friend or even a girlfriend/wife like someone as her, It might be she does all this for her own fun, but she is sincere in what she does and really cares..

I kinda dislike how Chizuru hides her true emotions and feelings, a true ice queen :/ Be honest for god sake!

I totally love the memories of granma Sayuri! they are so great! and Sayuri is great! btw I also loved to drink one cup oze sake when I was in Japan same as Chizuru's grandpa
the memories of grandma would make me cry of joy if I ever could cry.

the ending was sooooo sad ;/ I want next EPISODE ASAP!!!
and Kazuya was damn stupid not to hug Chizuru, even if she wouldn't like it at that moment, she damn needed a simple hug even as a friend! WTF

I think Kazu is gonna screen the part of movie inside the hospital room, Grandma for several seconds or more sees the movie and the maybe dies or goes into coma
After that if Chizuru doesn't bang with Kazu then she is the worst :D for real !

Emotional episode in the second half. Grandma collapsed after feeling the reassurance of her granddaughter getting close to her dreams. If only she would recover, she could witness its fulfillment. Chizuru is now at the most challenging times of her life.

i like this version of ed a lot more. felt beautiful.

amazing episode as usual. and i knew something would happen to sayuri. there were way too many red flags. but didn't expect it to turn like this after seeing how funny the first part was.

what i think is sayuri won't be having any regrests passing away now. she is having complete confidence that chizuru has someone by her side who treasures her. she also realised that chizuru is a lot tougher than she lets on. her worries are at ease now. you could say she was holding on all this time in the hopes of watching her granddaughter in a movie which i hope she's able to and because she was uncomfortable with the idea of leaving her all alone, she realised chizuru is not all alone now. i'm thinking kazuya will show her the movie on a laptop or something as the editing is already finished i think.

when chizuru was giving her speech in the hospital there i was really wishing for kazuya to shut her up by saying stop trying to put on a tough face etc. and hug her. but i guess that would have been too much to ask for. would have loved to see that though. chizuru never gets vulnerable like that but i wish she would let it all out.

i surely didn't think chizuru was feeling guilty about lying about her relationship with kazuya. that changes everything. kazuya is set on revealing the truth to sayuri now assuming she even wakes up.

i hope there are no more delays now onwards.

The end of an era. Thank you Wit, Mappa and Isayama.
Feeling half happy, half sad.

I cannot fucking believe they went from a heartwarming scene of Sayuri talking to her death husband... straight to Kazuya peeing in the bathroom like it was nothing.
What the fuck.

btw what happened WAS absolutely their fault, who the fuck would take a person in her condition to just "see the cinema" like a month before the movie screening? That was totally unnecessary, like, bruh.

Still, really emotional episode, I liked it for the most part.

I just love Mini Yaemori, she carried half the episode all by herself. And, why not, she ended up eating the not-a-virgin-anymore party snacks all alone.

Second half was more dramatic, though I prefer KanoKari's absurdity than it trying to get serious. Loved the ballad version of the ending song, tho.

Granny Sayuri not looking good after she fainted. Its very sad to hear its possible she doesn't make it through the night. With the worst timing too right as Kazuya and Chizuru were having a good time. Chizuru trying her hardest to put on a brave face but her reaction to see Sayuri on the ground said it all. They were all having such a great day too, Sayuri getting to see the theater where Chizuru film will be shown. A very large theater for all the backers to see the film along with Chizuru and Sayuri. Kazuya actually having a heartfelt speech to Sayuri about how he feels inferior to Chizuru. How she's way out of his league and he doesn't know why she hangs around him. Sayuri makes a good point about how Kazuya has done so much for both Chizuru and Sayuri especially helping produce this film. Hearing that makes it all the tougher to keep lying to someone as kind as Sayuri. I understand Kazuya wanting to tell her the truth since she might die but I don't think its a good idea to break her heart right before she passes on. Chizuru trying to hold out hope her grandmother will pull through. It looks like Kazuya is going to scramble to get the film to Sayuri before she dies.

This week's episode really surprised me a lot. It was actually insanely good.

We had a bit of the typical "Rent a Girlfriend" type of nonsense in the beginning, but after that the remainder of the episode was actually really good, and I just felt glued to my screen especially in the later parts of the episode.

It's really nice when they actually break away from the typical nonsense all the time and actually have some really good plot like this, looking like it might continue into next episode a bit too so I'm really excited for the next one now.

Anyways amazing episode, best this season no doubt and one of the best of the whole series so far even. Wish we got episodes like this more often.

Hoped Ruka's bragging of being on first-name basis with Kazuya would prompt him to call Chizuru the same. He's not so dumb to use her Rental name "Mizuhara" in front of Granny Sayuri but still.

HELL YEAH KILL THE GRANDMA

And again, not as if it's anywhere close, but the way Kazuya's worked himself into this internal self-judgmental world reminds me of Dostoyevsky. And this episode he even started on the road to that level of absurdity. Of course, he got there not because of anything real about the world, but because of the show's stupid conceit of rental girlfriends, but it's still weird to see him with such convoluted thinking.
