| Lol, the character outfits from this episode was all over the place. Lum looked out of place in her outfit. Imo, this episode was silly all around and even spotted a King Kong reference. Ataru also got a load of that snow woman lol |

| Ataru longing for Sukiyaki, and Lum appearing in her gear to forcefully bring him back for Setsubun in her universe in Hell, it's an all-out war between the Oni and humans. While Cherry labels Ataru as missing or dead and dying to taste some sukiyaki, the boy in question himself is just up to his old schmucks, paying the consequences for losing their own version of the culture festival. Ataru getting a cold while Lum is out, the presence of Oyuki in the closet opening Lum's alternate dimension in Neptune, it's a family of Yuki-onnas embroiled in snow. Hah, Shinobu being called the Third Wheel lols, and Ataru's got a new target to snatch, though her yeti servant B-Bo freaks him out. LOLS the King Kong reference, that was unsightly for the boy in question, and Shutaro can forget about going back to Earth and continue digging more snow. Ataru retiring from the race to be class president, though everything was just a 4th wall breaking parody of being the next MC, what a total misunderstanding. Nice. |

| Still poor Ataru because that Sukiyaki looks delicious. But to think that what Lum had planned was the annual bean throwing contest. Though Ataru's mom was pretty aloof at the start at the very least its nice to see her show care towards him. Its nice that we finally get to meet Oyuki. Still a interdimensional passage in his closet neat idea. Oyuki though has quite the guardian watching over her though. What a way to end up on the news though. Mendo really loves to show off to the ladies huh. The homeroom teacher lamenting how bad Ataru's grades were was hillarious as was the cast discussing who would be the new main character. |

| I wasn't thrilled about the idea of adapting 3 chapters in one episode but it turned out better than expected. If they're short chapters then they're doable I guess. But I still think adapting the "Ataru Retires" story was too fast for this. Ataru acted as the class president just 2 episodes ago so everyone "forgetting" he was the class president this quickly didn't make the joke land as well. Another thing I didn't like was introducing 2 of Lum's friends in the same episode. They were obviously introduced together to make the "Ataru Retires" skit better but they all should've been saved for later. At least it's great to see this anime doesn't shy away from making fourth-wall breaking jokes! Good episode if you ignore all that jazz. I loved Saori Hayami as Oyuki. She sounded awesome. I also liked that Ataru's Dad almost sounded like Ataru as he's voiced by the original VA of Ataru. :D The next episode will be about the little sea creature. When it was announced this series will only have 46 episodes I knew that not all of my favorites will be adapted but why are they adapting the "Home Is Where You Find It" and "Marine Garbage Disposal" story when there were much better stories to adapt? Is there anyone who even considers these their favorites...? There is a funny chapter involving the sea creature after this but it probably won't be adapted before cour 2 starts. |

| Honestly, thought this episode was pretty mediocre for the most part. I was never particularly impressed with either of these stories within the manga or the OG anime and this didn't do anything to change my opinion of them. But that last after-credits short was actually pretty great and honestly made up for how mediocre the rest of the episode was, so it wasn't a total dud atleast. |

| It's been a while since I've watched an episode this rushed. Even more than 1st episode. No, I didn't watch the original. Animation was mediocre overall too, some cuts felt *really* disconnected (which is also because of the super pacing). Art was wacky around when Oyuki appears. Only the last part with the main character gag felt fun. |
| Benten and Oyuki both seem like fun characters. Specially Oyuki, she's amusing and Hayamin voices her. |

| The post credit part was the highlight of this episode, because of the 4th wall break. If only Ataru was actually retiring as the MC. Otherwise, the other two parts were quite underwhelming. |
| It's even more chaotic when characters from the other worlds are involved, but of course you needed a girl for Hataru so the Ice Queen is a good choice when she takes off her clothes XD Also the last part was fun, I agree Lamu is the symbol and the main character of this anime :) |

| Unfortunately this episode had the rapid fire pacing that episode 1 was criticized for, though it wasn't a disaster considering they adapted 3 chapters. Up until now each consecutive episode had been better than the last, but not this one. I was never a fan of the episodes in the og where they went into space and did random stuff, so that might be why I didn't find this anywhere near as funny as the last episode. |

| And here we have it, the scariest (and almost, but not quite, the most evil) character in all of UY. Also, I don't know what's more impressive, Mendo digging up all that snow, or the four Yuki Onna cheering him on for such a long time. Fun episode as always. Also, to those curious why there wasn't a pre-OP bit, it's because it was moved to post-credits. |

| That food is so well drawn. Benten exploits Ataru's weakness for hot women to throw her friend Lum off the game. Cherry finding an excuse to eats sukiyaki for free lol Saori Hayami voicing yet another character with a snow/ice motif! Oh, damn, she really wants to get in Ataru's pants but her yeti-servant won't have it. When all the other guys go back to Earth via Ataru's bedroom, Mendou's pride keeps him behind shoveling snow on neptune while the other Yuki Onnas gawk at him. It looks like he hasn't slept. lol that post-credits fourth wall break, all the cast cram in the classroom from misinterpreting Ataru dramatically stepping down as class president. |

| It was nice to see Benten‘s introduction here, it was a bit short but still great, they made her look amazing as well, really love the red hair they gave her, her VA is great too. Ataru simping for her was still hilarious too lol, she is without a doubt worth the hot babe alert. It was also weird not seeing Ten in this one like he is in the original but it didn’t affect it much. Oyuki also looks fantastic and her VA rocks too, her introduction was cut short as well sadly but I do think it was a good play to put two of the best waifus’ intros in the same episode, I’m especially a Benten simp lol. I do think they shouldn’t have included that fourth wall breaking bit at the end to extend Benten and Oyuki’s parts, but that was still a great bit lol, it’s also an opportunity to see a lot of the show’s unique characters. |

| I really liked the after credit segment, they really broke the fourth wall on who should be the main character while Ataru was trying to announce that he was stepping down from being class president. Of course Lum is the real main character of this series. We are introduced to both Benten and Oyuki. Benten is a hot tomboy character that didn't get a lot of screen time unfortunately. Oyuki on the other hand tried to seduce Ataru, but not before Bo-Bo started chasing him leading to a King Kong reference at his house. Looks like Mendou found a new hobby in shoveling snow for the Yuki onnas. |

| Poor Mendo is going to be shoveling snow for a long time, and ataru nearly fell for the trap too! The main character segment after the credits was funny. Although, I'm unsure who'd be a better main character for this wacky world other then Ataru. Certainly not any of the current characters! It'd feel more generic! |

| From an organizational standpoint, I can get why they would want to introduce Benten and Oyuki in the same episode. But I can agree with the point of David Pro possibly going too fast with their adaptation. Still, that after-credits scene was delivered hilariously and the actors are doing a nice job of filling the originals' shoes, even if these iconic roles are big shoes to fill. As I've mentioned before, my friends and I have been rewatching the '81 Urusei Yatsura daily as this new version airs. I still like the original more, but the 2022 show is a treat to watch nonetheless. Benten's manga illustration-inspired coloration looks better to me than the black haired version, and I love the icy-reflective coloration they gave Oyuki's hair; Like with Lum's hair before them, they're really taking advantage of the digital medium. |

| Dang, this episode felt really quick especially the Setsubun one. I think it's understandable that they really rushed the stories since none of these introduction stories for both Benten and Oyuki are really noteworthy either. Plus they are really short so it's fine. Saori Hayami is really fit for Oyuki's role for her calm and elegant voice. Early Oyuki is really thirsty and down for forbidden love with Ataru. My favorite part of the episode is the addition of Mendo in Oyuki's segment. I like how he could find a part-time job shoveling for Yuki-onnas lol. I do find it to be too early for them adapting the Ataru retire chapter. He is just elected as class president 3 episodes ago. They should have waited for at least all side characters like Ran, Tsubame and Rei introduced first so the fourth breaking wall joke could land much harder since longer time just passed but it's still fun nonetheless. And lastly, Lum was not wrong though she is also the main character alongside Ataru. So the next episodes will also mark the group's first beach trips and hopefully, they adapt more beach episodes because they are some of the most fun eps in UY. |
