All the buildup, emotional drama, and events led up to this. Joe vs Mac is the ultimate match in the Megalo Box world that came together in the finale.

They put their heart and soul into this fight. Emotions were running high this episode in the Megalo Box world. Definitely worth waiting for imo. I'm immensely impressed by how far they managed to focus on the parallel levels of Joe and Mac. The fight itself also had strong emotions both in and outside that ring.

9/10.

HERE WE GO: Gearless "The Legend" Joe wearing Chief's Gear (that is a departure from his Gearless days) vs. Mac "The Public Hero Sons of ROSCO" Rosario with the BES chip implanted in his brain, for a hyped finale Megalonia match, MAN TO MAN! And both sides are not relinquishing their own efforts to punch their way through to victory.

At this point, Sakuma may be a typical liar, but Yukiko isn't gonna let him go easily, while being blindly slidelined herself before with the partnership. The dissonance of Sakuma's own assistant Yoshimura working together with Yukiko, that manages the Megaloboxer to keep him sane throughout the match, even if Mac Time is almost enabled and he is forced to a corner against Joe, which Mac's advances lead him to having hallucinations of his previous life before being Nomad, but he's different this time with Sachio and the rest backing him up. Now it's Mac's turn being the Nomad to be lead home by the hummingbird (his family), and it warms thy tears in my heart a lot.

Even the wolf that almost got K.O. and killed by traffic, it managed to find a way to survive, and that is the same with Joe. As promised, throw the towel into the ring if things get worse, and Sachio did that for Joe's sake to crown Mac the winner without wasting his life...and an inspiration from Nanbu.

To the very end, Yukiko did her justice: get Sakuma arrested for his falsifying of records in ROSCO, put everything back into place again through her own means as well with Mac and Maya's request, accepting responsibility for all that happened, and opened up the world of infinite possibilities for a new future with the BES chip. Even if Joe lost, he has no hard feelings, because he's glad that he's alive again and able to share life with others, even to the immigrant community.

What a sweet ending though that sees everyone having their normal lives again. Otherwise, what an insanely strong sequel Nomad is, broke all my expectations.

As the match started between Mac and Joe. Both were looking in great forms and both were aggressive in their approach from the beginning. The match shifted from one's favor to another repeatedly and Mac was normal as well during his whole match. Both were chasing a dream but this time Sachio was the one who was calling the shots. So, he didn't take any chances and throw the towel in which made it clear that Mac Rosario is the winner of the match.

On the other hand, BES wasn't shut down due to the President's actions jeopardizing someone's future like that but he sure gets arrested for that and the whole chips system of the company will still live but in the whole world this time around which makes it accessible and more open to everyone. Also, Liu is gonna go back to boxing after his recovery. Overall, a great ending to a great show. Absolutely loved it. What a great ending for everyone.

Even though today I was in a bad mood, but this episode is so amazing that it makes my day.

It also shows strong feminism message as much as its masculinity.

And Joe gets two happy endings in a row! And he's still single! Yuri and Lui too! Maybe, just maybe...

Anyway, look like there's a possiblity of the next season. Maybe a fight between Joe and Lui? Maybe something entirely different. And I know it'll be amazing regardless of the ending, but I want creators to keep challenge themselves by rejecting "classic ending". Joe and his friends deserve all the happiness in the world.

Anyway, is Sakuma based on Elon Musk? BES is kinda similar to Neuralink. And the way Elon Musk want to skip safety step of his technology...

A beautiful finale to an amazing season. The build up of the story is definitely great and I really found myself resonating with the characters, and the soundtrack is just top-notch, I love how it just fits with the theme of this season. The final fight ending with the towel being thrown was a bit unexpected but it's good enough that they both made it out of the ring alive. From the way the season has ended, it seems to me that this is not the end for this series yet, so I am looking forward for what's going to come next.

It's not like the first season was bad, it was actually pretty good but season two was a cut above in all areas. I did think the fight was slightly anticlimactic but it did what it needed to do and the aftermath was very satisfying.

Not every anime needs an epic or high stakes conclusion.
Season 2 of Megalobox, despite a boxing anime, tells a story of personal growth and family. Even though the ending is kind of anticlimatic, it is a wonderful conclusion for both Joe's and Mac's story. Leagues better than season 1.

I didn't expect him to throw the towel, I'm not a fan of this ending but it wasn't too bad. Though, the fight of this this episode didn't feel like a final fight, it was anticlimactic imo. I'm really happy to see Joe's mental ilness get better.

It was a good show, I liked both seasons. There were some things I found dumb about this season but it didn't change my opinion of this show much.

Expected much better to be honest.
The clown glasses guy got too much screen time and I'm like "Nobody care, just focus on the damn match already"

And then there is that random throwing the towel scene which left a very bad taste in my mouth, the idea of throwing the towel itself isn't that bad like he could have thrown it if things REALLY got worse which didn't happen at all, it didn't even look like Joe was struggling that much. It just felt out of place.

Kinda disappointing ending but overall the season is still pretty good and much better than the first.

Wow, I'm flashed. Loved the way it ended. This gratifying feeling of closure when everything comes together in the end is what I was missing from the finale of S1. So glad we got this great sequel. It did so many things right I miss in other series nowadays. It was consistently well paced, character arcs had a common theme, were connected to each other, even to the previous season and amidst all that it still had it's own standalone stories to tell. Traditional in a sense and nothing extraordinary, but when looking at the state of modern anime it's refreshing to have something GAR and something more grounded that doesn't require pandering to keep it's viewers hooked. Same goes for the style. Since S1 I was a big fan of the aesthetics and soundtrack of this anime.

A successful tribute to Ashita no Joe

One of the most underwhelming aspects of the first season, for me anyway, were the boxing matches. I never really cared about them eventhough I was very much invested in the characters. I am glad that season 2 understood that the magic of the series doesn't come from the matches but from its characters. The former gets sidelined almost completely in favour of developing the cast. Even the final match feels a bit anti-climatic but I am fine with that as it gave more room for the characters to truly shine. There are some that I didn't care about but overall, I think season 2 was vastly superior to the first one. All that being said, I do think that the first 6 episodes is Peak Nomad. Everything that came afterwards didn't quite reach the same heights as what came before it but I am still satisfied with what I got. This season was so much better than I thought it would be and it delivered a mostly gratifying conclusion. It's my favourite anime of spring season, sequel or otherwise.

This felt like sort of a "safe" finale to me. Everything wrapped up pretty nicely, without any major surprises or tragedies. A good, but not great, finale.

Still my personal AOTY so far, though.

And if you haven't already, go watch Ashita no Joe. Do it.

I've never seen a show need more screentime than Megalo Box, it has a lot of ambition, it makes the set ups slow, and when the time comes, it has a problem, you can't wrap up so many things the last episode, you literally don't have time, and if you try then you fail and you have to start cutting out parts, or making them much shorter than what they should be, like the fight this episode, and that leads to this finale feeling crammed in and closed in an anticlimactic way. I admire the talent of the people behind this series, but they could have done with a few more episodes and better action scenes for the series to end as satisfyingly as it should have.

First season was an 8/10 for me.

This one after the ending is an 8.5/10 ,so conflicted between giving it 8 or 9 rating. The ending had some parts which I liked but was not upto my expectation. The part that I didnt like was sachio throwing the towel too soon , but I understood why.

Edit: I went with an 8/10 rating since I though the ending was disappointing compared to first 6 to 8 episodes of the series.

This is going to be short and sweet.
This season did not live up to the first. After King dies the whole season just kind of went down hill for me. I have nothing against Mac but I don't like throwing in the towel especially when it didn't look like the time he should have.
I'm not mad joe loss im just mad that it didn't live up to the yuri fight which I am now convinced that nothing can. 7 out of 10 for me.

so.. the most hyped fight of the second half never actually was meant to be a fight.. it was just metamorphical struggles of the 2 boxers..
well.. consider me DISAPPOINTED.. sure a nice ending and all.. but this season lacked any good fight except the Chief's.. who died.. so that's that..
this season as a whole adding the ending.. gets a 6/10 from me..
this left a pretty bad taste in my mouth..

I know a lot of people are a bit disappointed, the short fight, the thrown towel and all that.

I, like others, thought that Joe winning and dying would have been a "better" ending than this but...death doesn't necessarily make a better story and the two main points of this season were "live" and "family is important, don't abandon them for pride", even if he was enjoying that last fight this ending made the most sense.

I'm a bit disappointed considering this could've been an all time classic. A few mistakes in the 2nd half disallowed this possibility. But different from S1, where the mistakes made the show be forgotten, this Season holds up really damn well. The first half of the series is legit a 10/10. The way they reintroduce the world and characters are nothing less than perfect. But I think Mac arc was a bit rushed. They definitely created this character in order to gave a finale to what is essencially a boxing anime, but they had way too many characters, layers and subplots to introduce, develop and conclude. Final fight in general could've been much better, speicially if we compare to last season, but it's also an improvement considering S1 cut it the actual end for a failed attempt to create drama.

Overall, this Season is a definitely one of my favorites of the year, and by far the Best anime of the season. It had some restraints that didn't allowed to be any better, but it's certainly an improvement not only from the first Season, but from the anime media in general, filled with overrated childish shounen. 9/10

Joe dying would have spat on everything the season was building, shock value should never come before narrative cohesion or you end up with another GOT season 8

Wow. It's sad that the season has come to a close but I loved every moment of it. From the somber soundtrack, to the melodramatic story and the characters, to the happy ending, this nearly perfect show has become an unforgettable experience for me. I thoroughly enjoyed both seasons, and loved S2 even more. Definitely has solidified it's place as one of my top series.

Because most of this season was super heavy it was such a beautiful way to wrap up this season and story. This was easily one my favorite animes this season and one that will stick with me for quite a while. Those looking for an action packed sports anime may be disappointed but for those looking for a mature anime with a great story that is incredibly deep and emotional will be pleasantly surprised. I feel like this was truly a story telling masterpiece, that focused more on characters and relationships while still focusing on boxing.

Loved the ending. I didn't expect Sachio to actually throw in the towel but it absolutely fits thematically and was the right move to prevent any hard consequences. Not sure if I'm completely satisfied with the amount of fight scenes we had overall though. Obviously this season was more drama-heavy and especially the last episode had to resolve things. Well, we did get a decent look at the final match this time around which is certainly more than last season's big fight!

for me
the final episode was a huge disappointment
battle was disappointing
no emotions
no drama
no hype
no adrenaline
I don't want to compare it to anj but
they just RUINED the whole hype for me
they could've done a better episode
better ending
I'm not saying that joe's death was necessary
but they could've done a better ending
why joe was sick? why tf they showed in episode 12 like he was about to die in the ring?
why so many emotions in previous episodes if they ruined everything in the last episode?
they could do a more dramatic and emotional episode but no
unnecessary "happy ending" without any explanation.
why in the first season every ending was with the title "not dead yet"
why they talked 90% in this episode and 10% fight?
and they ended it quickly without any emotion
IDK this is an alternative universe of ANJ
this is a tribute to Ashita no joe
and deserved a masterpiece ending
just like Ashita no joe
*sigh*
well at least the whole series was GREAT
but not masterpiece
I wanted to give this 10
but now I'm stuck with 8 - 9

I thought it was a Ok ending.
The fight should have been longer and more rewarding, no matter if it would be the same outcome.

7/10 for me, it was good but not overwhelmingly good.

I think its nice that it doesnt force same story outcomes from AnJ but at the same time it also can't compare to AnJ in any way to me. Either way nice to see it go its own route.

DUDE. Just what the heck was that match? After looking forward to it so much, I just feel betrayed right now. But I guess what would make sense as this season is more about the drama than the sport itself. But still, can't help but feel it was a letdown.

Other than the last fight, I enjoyed this season thoroughly. And even though the action in the prequel was better, it's the story that stays memorable in the end.
(Is that a chance I smell of Yukiko and Joe hooking up? Haha jk)

8/10.
