Will Season 2 Be Better Than Season 1?

The fight coregraphy clearly better, the art style looks more clear and just better, animation is more fluid and crisp, the directing is sick and the production quality is higher. Joe as a protagonist is gonna develop plenty and is gonna get great depth and backstory. Story is much more interesting now with so many questions and some symbolism, Season 2 can be far better imo. What yall think?

it has literally been one episode. It hard to fully judge an anime entire production values by just one episode. And even then, from my point of view, Season 2 looks just as good as Season 1, not much has changed.

But in terms of story, I think Season 2 will be a more enjoyable then Season 1. I enjoyed Season 1's story of a classic underdog rising to the top and I like the character studies, but I felt a bit cheated since the first half of Season 1 promised me a hypefest, and instead got an anime about characters. That expectation vs. reality really tainted this anime for me and lots of other people. Now with season 2, that kind of expectation is not there anymore, so now with the promise of a former champion being bitter and broken, I think there is a much stronger set-up that leaves little room for shattered expectations.

So in that sense, yeah I think season 2 will be better then season 1

No, I’m 86% sure he’s dead. Needless to say the Nanbu we’ve seen talk to Joe is a product of his imagination (whether it’s caused by his painkiller addiction or not, I’m not sure).
There’s an obvious time skip by Joe’s Epic Fucking Beard, but I think the passage of years would’ve been more obvious if we saw Sachio. That’s why I’m not sure if Nanbu’s dead or just so (physically) far away from Joe he has to hallucinate him being there.

Eh, I think is poll is too early. it's only been one episode. Atleast we should give it a vote at the half way point.

I'm honestly skeptical because even though season 1's finale was bad, I don't think it needs a 2nd season cause it's wrapped nicely. But seeing the first episode made me change my mind. I think the story will be more interesting and I hope for more interesting battles. My biggest problem with the first season besides the finale was how boring the fights were.

Season 1 beginning was great, but the ending was crap. Season 2 might turn out better, since season botch the finale...

If I ever pick this up, I hope the fights animation and scenes are good.

This season seems... unnecessary? The show in season 1 was excellent, and in my opinion conclusive enough that a sequel wasn't necessary. People complaining about season one being too character focused and not dumb action or hype... Well I think thats a taste/preference thing and I care more about characters/interaction/dynamics and good dialogue then about how many or how good the fights were or not. Season one was the classic Coming of Age story and now we're seeing the classic redemption story. Is this a cash grab like Boruto or DBS? Probably not but it might be. So far it looks and feels identical to season 1 which is good. My guy Joe is messed up and we're gonna find out soon why. I LOVE the Spanish music and the tone that it creates. Its a somber, Western type of feel and you get that right away. Well, lets hope they don't ruin a really good Franchise/IP by getting greedy. For those wondering its a 5 year time skip. And did Joe win anything (money wise) last season by winning Megalomania because I forgot. Shouldn't he have bread?

Woah people complained that it was too character focused? To me that is what made it stand out. Too many animes I've seen sacrifice character development for the sake of over the top action. It was a refreshing change of pace to see one that chooses to focus on the characters lives and motivations rather than non stop in your face battles. It was truly gem.

I loved how the main antagonist wasn't your typical over the top mad man, but rather became a rival who wanted to challenge the hero fairly. A rival who saw the passion, the fire of the underdog, and stopped caring about his goal to promote Megalo boxing.

For him it was no longer about the sponsors or Megalo, it was about Joe, it was about training as hard as possible to fight someone he saw as a worthy rival worth fighting on even ground for.

I was ok with the how it ended because it wasn't a show about heroes and villains, it was about and the choices they make.

Well it wasn’t made clear but he most likely woulda got a fat paycheck for the fight alone seeing how popular it must’ve been and then by winning the whole competition he must’ve got an even bigger sum of money although it seems like he wasted all the dough on drugs or something like that. Btw, pretty sure it’s a 7 year time skip.

Ye imma have to agree with you on this, personally I’m a huge fan of Ashita No Joe and to me the first season of Megalo Box was definitely a great way to pay homage AnJ, and despite what many say I do believe that the first season’s ending was not bad, so a second season isn’t entirely necessary. But I am still excited to see how the second season turns out, and them mentioning Ashita No Joe at the start of the first episode really has my hopes up

It for sure can be better, but for me, i have this feeling that its not gonna be, with the first episode i already feel weird about it, somethings wrong, but all of this could turn around in later episodes.

No, because no matter how good it is it'll still be a cashgrab sequel to a series that had a perfect ending and didn't need a sequel.

You could say the same about rocky or even the first ashita no joe. Regardless of whether you think any of the sequels actually top the original is one thing but no one is gonna argue those 2 sequels sure as hell didnt have a story to tell.

Jizzy as you would call yourself because youre a dick The most butthurt award goes to you And clearly you havent watched that many shows thats why you cant determine if a show is unique or not Or maybe you're just a child who likes common stuffs where hero saves the day and guys gets all the girls. Sad taste you have there kid you came up to me in the first place making you look more like a kid who got slapped without me even knowing it and start crying about it to me
