What an episode! Can't believe that fight ended because she broke his neck xD Their technology is on a completely different level!

They did a fast recap for the less important fights, i was pretty fine with that.

Can't wait to see more of Han and Mira's fighting skills!

Holy s**! That guy got what he deserved, what a fight! Jin is OP as hell, that triple kick in the air, damn!
I honestly doubt that they will kick him since he is way too good to leave the tournament now.

Can't wait for the next episode!

Jin Mori's taekwondo kicks > Deku's shooting style kick? Yes? hmmm

Good animation so far unlike that other webtoon adaptation

Okay The God of High School was good but it kind of took a shit on their rules for a sake of an action set piece. I hope this doesn't become a theme with this show. Jin is pretty standard for anime main characters but I like him. I also want to take this time to remind people that Tai Chi is more of a showy martial art than something for fighting.

I still like the show but let's not get into bullshit like that. I know some tightass will call the show bad over it.

Hell yeah! Episode 2 baby.

This episode was rushed, since I noticed that they cut deliberately those important parts like the characters backstory. Still those animation is lit. It is clean and smooth that is fitting for those fights. I'm not surprised though, because they used motion capture for the fight scenes.

Overall, since the episode is rushed yet good, then I will rate it 4/5

They don't use the motion capture in the anime. It was only done for reference for the animators to be as accurate as possible when drawing the frames.

https://youtu.be/Kopk9fUB9-A
They mentioned motion captured from behind the scenes in this sneak peak. Not sure though, but anyway props to the animators.

I see maybe you should try reading the webtoon? It will help you figure out why the power levels are important.
The skip is important as it shows that Mori isn't just an overpowered goofball but that he hides his powers, it adds to the depth of the character.

I already told you that I read the webtoon and mori didn’t hide his power levels as you say intentionally, it was the bracelet who revealed that not because Mori wanted to hide it lol.

Fully agree with you, not saying it's going too fast but it's just some things are left unexplained.
I'll also recommend you to read the webtoon, it is a really enjoyable story that develops nicely.

You remind me of those TOG readers who keep saying to read the webtoon.
Wait there are power levels? Fuckkkkkkkkkkkk! That shit ruined Seven Deadly Sins.

Damn this anime is great, I saw the trailer on YouTube and bin watched the 2 ep, I haven’t felt like that since OPM season 1 and the great fights even if OPM animation was better but this one has insane choreography, damn that fight between taichi guy and the guy with the dreads locks was insane aslo the MC is a badass, love that kind of character, that triple kick in the air, he used his opponent foot to keep balance to land the hit, very impressive, did there ever have an anime where the MC is badass with his foot instead of his hands ?
It shame there hasn’t been many good fighting anime like this one, baki and kengan ashura are not done justice , they need a good studio.

Of all the things that happened in this episode, the miraculous nano-machine is the one thing that caught my attention the most. It's broken. I also liked the seemingly supernatural power involving the holy cross thingy.

So far, this series is looking way better than Tower of God which is so average, overall.

The action/pace is pretty cool and the fights are very flashy. The moves resonates well with the characters and you really don't need much of a backstory to know who they are. That makes it more awesome.

Day 2 of the competition and things almost went to shit. What happened to the Battle Royale format tho?

Another pretty entertaining episode. We got a brief glimpse of our main trio's reasons to participate in the tournament as well as another well directed fight. In that regard, I appreciate they gave the dreadlocks dude some sort of background to justify his "typical battle shounen douchebag" actions. I expected Tai Chi guy to be more of a challenge tho.

As for Mori, I really like this guy. His personality is super standard for the MC of a battle shounen but I really enjoy seeing him acting this friendly and loyal. Him helping Mira after his mistake was rather sweet to see, by the way.

Oh well! at least they try to input some development into the characters but fail to be original (Leorio beware! someone tries to rip off your background dev.)
Animation is still very bad (When manseok smashes the other guy's head. you could think the head is as thin as paper. And a particular leg attack shot looks like Luffy lend some power to MC and many more ridiculous shot...)
Soundtrack is even worse and couldn't match once what was shown on screen. ToG all over again
Even Cringier humour (this light gag is awful) + logos on the ring is as terrible.

For a fight driven anime, to have such animation and ost is clearly borderline.
Hopefully third ep is the charm but I strongly doubt it

Another fun, fast-paced ep that got me hype. We saw a little more characterisation this episode, so my guess is there'll be a worldbuilding ep somewhere in the near future, maybe in 2 episodes or 3, possibly after the preliminaries.

Excited to see what happens

so far, I can already see that the pacing is gonna be a problem moving forward for this anime, I am seeing some comments that they have skipped so many things already, and to me. It felt like I am missing something that's important in the story. I saw someone say that in two episode they already done 12 chapters. so it's gonna be interesting and terrifying how they will handle this.

the animation looks Good so far, I hope Crunchyroll don't messed this one.

the voice acting could be better but I like the main cast so far, it's good to see that Crunchyroll is trying to give light to some Voice actors that need it.

that ad placement in the ring though, it's annoying but it's tolerable and actually genius on their part.

Overall, I am looking forward to this anime this season.

It's been a while since I read the webtoon but I felt like this episode was rushed. That didn't make it any less enjoyable though. I still had fun watching every second of it. I do remember some changes they made with the scene regarding Mira's sword and how they found it but I don't mind. I am sure most Anime onlys wouldn't mind either since they don't know the source material.

Felt sorry for Gamdo, he was fucked up but he didn't give up. Glad Mori stepped in when he did.

I just watched the two episodes, but I've been dragged by the charm of this show. The action is smooth, also the pace of the story is seems enjoyable. However, somehow I feel something is missing in the character development and backstory in this 2 episodes but that's not really give a big impact to the story. I hope it will be intensified in the next episodes.

Fight choreography and animation is solid as hell but, It does seem pretty rushed like a lot of things are happening in a single episode.

But, Jin really does remind me of Goku with his personality and his reasons for fighting.

Can't say I'm disappointed, but I expected more from this episode, they cut one key aspect from the webtoon which i really wanted to see in this episode which was Jin's power up to level 13 when he used his triple kick and that just shocked the whole audience and the administrators, I hope they bring it up in the next episode. The pacing is a bit off, I thought the last encounter would happen at the end of episode 3 so they wouldn't have to rush but overall the anime so far has been good, MAPPA did a great job with the animation and the last fight was pretty good, wished they showed more combat scenes in the beginning of the episode especially the fight from last episode, it should have continued but nonetheless, it was ok. The OP and ED are amazing as always.

I thought I was the only one who thought the animation was weird but I see other people saying it too. I thought it's like this on purpose but idk, I don't know much about animation, I only notice it when it's really good or really bad. For this one tho, idk which one it is, but it's not my fav. It's just weird.

I hope AoT s4 will have better animation.

I feel like lots of backstorys and flashbacks were cut. Way too much.

It felt really really rushed. It feels more rushed than ToG, but I guess it's not that bad for this kinda show. It was still enjoyable.
But well...idk what to think really.

And that girl seriously broke Mori's neck like WTF. I mean I noticed from the first ep that this anime isn't realistic but this was too much...And I also expected the fights to be more idk technical since people were preaching about the martial arts in this but everyone just seems to have super powers.

And it also felt weird how they cut the fight from the first ep. I mean I thought it would continue in this ep.

Nanites or no, Go Gamdo's pride and stubborness might have killed him if Jin didn't interfere. In spite of that, I would have liked to see it still concluded without Jin's interfrence.

They haven't defined what charyeok is. Those two guys behind.. (uhmm was that the PotUS?) seem to know of it, and that power broker in Kang Manseok's past, obviously Park Mujin uses it, and by extension probably the other tournament adminiistrators as well.

faith lost in this hopefully MAPPA can keep carrying the animation because that seems to be the only thing going for it.

Putting martial arts in quotation marks does not suffice to describe the fighting in this. The show does not even concern itself with the sports it uses, the commentator is adding nothing of substance. Jin finished the fight with 3 basic dollyo chagis which could have been described or whatever. So clearly, the show does not strive to be Yuri on Ice for the world of martial arts.

This leaves me thus far only with some generic characters (enthusiastic MC, family legacy girl, sick family member guy) and vague clues regarding the backstory. Next episode they really got to drop some clues and baits because my motivation to watch this is getting low.

Very enjoyable 2nd episode!!
And yep, still prefered fast paced anime like this, it is anti-boring
I'd like to see the detail about Daewi, why he needs money and nano machine, and who's in hospital??
Also the fact that they all being invited to GOH and seems like Mori ever lose by the blonde guy
The 1st part when our trio's bonding is my fave, kinda speechless when Mira slap Mori, but their relationship developed nicely, I'm glad, poor Mira too, she can't be a normal highschool girl

Also, this anime really effective makes me fall in love quickly with it's characters, make Go Gamdo call Mori "sensei" and he already my baby~
But those battle, even it very finely animated, I can't help watching how brutal it is, the director really didn't push back about censorship and everything (remember at the exact same type of violent in Tokyo ghoul and they censor everything) I praise the team to have balls showing it wooaah

I haven't read the webtoon.
I'm still - annoyed with this show.
I never expected this to be an accurate representation of martial arts, but more a passionate presentation. But...the only thing that was Tai-chi in the fight was the way he lost.
With the readily available demo videos of how various forms are applied, there's really no excuse for the inaccuracies.
Guess I'll have to enjoy this show for the plot and characters.

It wouldn't be a Mappa show if the budget didn't fall apart after the first episode, and yes, I'm going to say that despite the 10 second ridiculously overanimated sequence that came after 30 seconds of ridiculously overanimated posing that they tried to pass off as an action sequence. Also why that was terrible after discussing the profoundly tedious 15 minutes of the episode that came before that. Actually, what is there to discuss? Instead of the bike chase sequence from last week, they splashed around in a river. Instead of a montage where everybody did some fighting, we got a montage where we skipped over them fighting. Still had the bizarre bit at the start about that island getting palm-slapped though. Maybe they'll tie that in to the rest eventually.

But on to the main event, where all the budget for the episode went. One dude does a bunch of over-animated posing and punches a guy, who just has perfect immunity to it. Then he beats up the guy, the peanut gallery all gasping at the brutality of it, despite not showing any of it, nor the guy having so much as a bruise to that point, so the protagonist jumps in and clowns the guy in return. But wait, he has a second form. So the protagonist… one-shots him again, while clowning the refs, only to be one-shot by the super ref. Cause… you know, the hallmark of a great fight scene is total immunity to punches, followed by being repeatedly one-shot. It's like kids on a playground. "I killed you!" "Nuh uh! I completely blocked it! I killed you!" I would say that even Dragonball wouldn't be this bad, but that's because it would have stretched it out across at least three episodes. And have I mentioned the inane flashbacks in the middle of them? It's like a perfect storm of contrivance and lazy writing

First of the bat, I'll say I find it weird they have colored noses which for me has always represented having a cold or some other aliment in most things Ive viewed.

other than that, I did like the awesomeness of the fighting. Although i'm a little unsure on the savagery factor in terms of story continuity. While watching the new season of Baki recently, they kept it in the ring. In old school DBZ when Vegeta took out s stand in the world tournament people started running and screaming.

I know we live in different times, but when people are being hit with massive force into the audience and a few rows of people of crushed, or even the shout out from one audience member saying should we be watching this, it feels fake.

Yes the have nano bots to heal the fighters, it was made story line at the start. But what about all the audience people taking massive impacts from fighters being thrown into them. Do they get nano bots too? Do you sign a disclaimer when entering the audience that no matter what happens during the show you will get rebuilt?

Where is the separation from audience and combatants. Like one of the main characters, could I just jump into the ring because I feel morally outraged at what I am seeing and be rebuilt after getting my ass kicked by someone with super human powers.

There is a disconnect between audience participation which we as the viewer, and we as the audience at the event as the viewer are experiencing. It feels like base violence for violence sake in a desperate attempt to get a thumbs up as being edgy without any of the true questions around consequence being answered.

TLDR: Hell yeah, bring on the extreme violence and savage power ups. Its what I want to see, and its what Im getting. F' Yeah!!

Episode 1 got my hyped with the fights and then episode 2 screeches to a practical halt all of that excitement.

The fight was super cool and all but I do like development in-between that doesn't come across as a footnote.

If you are going for a fight anime then go for a fight anime. If you want a backstory anime gives us backstory. Don't dither between the two. It left me unsatisfied.

But idk what will happen with these power levels. It's the second episode and they have already broken the semblance of a proper tournament. I expected it to last longer. And it's like - it's obvious Mori is the ace of the tournament already...
