THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Episode preaired today online.

Pretty entertaining stuff. Gotou reminds me of the MC from Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. Hime is pretty cute with some of her imaginations. Seems the core of the show will follow the two main lead's relationship together. On the other hand, the part with Gotou making manga is also kinda hilarious especially with the intentional black circles.

This should be a fairly entertaining season.

I loved the attack on titan parody! and most of the jokes for that matter. It was surprising how much I laughed at certain situations and that's mostly because the VAs did a great job.

Also, I really hope we get to see Hime and her dad interact more out of their house.
It really do be like that though.

This was actually better than i was expecting (and i already expected it to be good). Also Kamiya Hiroshi's voice is very memorable, it will take some time to get used to this and not see Araragi or Shinji instead lol.

So it looks like the anime will cover 6 volumes, which is exactly the half of the entire manga. The art and direction are better than I expected, there's plenty of visual quirks to support the comedy. Hashimoto Yukari's soundtrack is perfect, same for the voice acting. I have high expectations from this adaptation.

This was quite funny. And cute. I like how it shows the little girls' perspective of their world. How a Star Bucks is actually something really scary and mysterious for them.
OP and ED were kinda average but the comedy and SOL was really fun!

So Araragi became mangaka xD

Not overly cute as Amaama to Inazuma or as comfy as Usagi Drop, but a great start in it's own right with nice production to boot. Surely will be a fun and wholesome ride.

You know whilst this might seem like a bit of a weird premise, it's worth remembering that this is something that many ecchi and hentai mangaka have to live through. Many of them have families and children after all. Having to explain something like that to them while they're still young must bring with it all kinds of complications

And you can't even change the genre and expect people to calm down. Once you get remembered as a dirty gag mangaka, it's gonna stick to you. It can seriously hurt your career.

Great episode. I know I'm going to enjoy this a lot.

I couldn't stop laughing throughout the episode. Hime is so cute and the voice actors for both the main character fit well.

The Starbucks scene was hilarious. These kids have some wild imagination.

That was actually really good. I was interested in this because of the art style and the premise, and what I got was a really funny and wholesome show about a (dirty) mangaka father trying to hide his job from his daughter. The scenarios were really fun, especially the Starbucks and bookstore scene. The OP and ED were pretty good as well.

I really like the word play from the title. Didn't realize what the title could mean until I watched this episode. "My father's secret is that he draws for a living." Really smart one.

I'll definitely watch this one until the end. Hope it stays funny and wholesome with no sudden changes and stuff.

Did Shaft close down? That's the only explanation why Kumenta's series is not done by them. It feels almost wrong to see his character design not done in that distinct style. It's even more striking when there are so many SZS lookalikes. Aside from the bizarre look, it was like a lightweight SZS. References and wordplay were pretty tame.

Shame it's not that unique blend of shaft and Kumeta. Joshiraku was kind of bland and Kizumonogatari movies sucked, so it would be great to see them team up again.

You know what? I take back what I said this morning. Fuck Appare-Ranman! This is the surprise favourite of the season.

Back when I was skimming through the chart last week I didn't pay this one much thought, reading the synopsis and going "meh" but I chose to watch it on a whim and hot damn, it's actually pretty good. Also wow, so this is what Araragi gets up to in his adult life. I'm curious why Senjougahara is mysteriously absent, I guess I'll find out in the near future.

Well this is a pleasant surprise. I liked Zetsubou Sensei best at its darkest so I wouldn't have asked for a lighter version, but contrasting Kumeta's brand of petty cynicism with a genuinely heart-warming relationship works really well. The vivid visuals are cool too and I feel like the director gets the author's sense of humour so I honestly have nothing but praise here.

I thought it was okay. Very light hearted comedy compared to Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei (hard to have darker comedy than this show), and I appreciate the refreshing change of pace.

The episode was not the most interesting, and had moments where it dragged, but the dynamic was pretty cute with the father-daughter bond. Among the seasonals I started, one of the weaker starts so far but I expect this to age better with time.

Let me guess the part where we see Hime in her High School uniform when she opened up that door in front of that Hooch was probably the part where her dad has passed away......if it is, then wtf do they always have to kill off the parents????

This. Which isn't really a bad thing. Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei is brilliant and subversive, but also quite straining to watch at times. This show delivers very similar humor with less bizarro and at lower speed. SZS, iyashikei edition.

I liked it. Comedy is different from Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei and Katte ni Kaizou, but I like the more wholesome approach of this work. Kamiya as always great (his character even looked like a grown-up Araragi), and the part of the Starbucks was amusing.

I realized there is a character that is identical to another from Katte ni Kaizou.

They even have the same name. I wonder if this is an easter egg or if both series are situated in the same universe.
