Cain is back and of course, trouble follows with him.

I couldn't take Schaal much seriously this episode. At this point, I just hope the show will give her some form of meaningful role in the upcoming episode. Her relationship with Hank changed a lot since the beginning though.

Finally take for Hank to settle this...

So this time Hank has to deal with the Centaurus. He is a crazy guy that loves war.

The interrogation scene between Hank and Claude is very 50 shades.
Hank takes off his shirt the same time as he turn into werewolf is the instant turn on button for me.
Next episode preview seems like they're gonna use that secret weapon to kill both Hank and Centaur, but the situation twist, there are many more monsters in that fortress.

Also just how many anti-war media until there's no more war in the real world?

The war between The North and New Patria has begun with the battle to take the fortress at Bold Creek. This Centaur incarnate seems like a difficult opponent because he has both close and long range attacks and on top of that he can regenerate. It seems like the Centaur incarnate lost his soul once he realized that he couldn't save the soldiers as a doctor and that the only way to save them was to obliterate the opposition.

With one episode left I wonder how they are going to conclude the series?

The anime will likely cover the 1st 30 manga chapters, which consist of Vols 1-5 and half of Vol 6. There's a pretty good stopping point at Chp 30.

The manga currently has 54 chapters in Japan; 53 have been compiled into 10 volumes.

They actually adapted Miles's past and the reason why he became so unhinged. Nice surprise, as I expected the anime to skip it and finish the battle this episode.
Schaal's cute scene when she imagines herself wearing the uniform of Coup de Grâce was welcomed of my part. Kinda wished the anime would had showed more of her quirky side, but at least that is something.

Indeed. I wouldn't have even minded some cheap effects for the battlefield. This came close to watching a Let's Play of a visual novel. Which is shame since things do seem to get crazy...

Hank Vs Centaur, I guess there's another war happening, but this time they will use a secret weapon? Guess we'll see next week, fights were pretty meh as it contained a lot of still images.

Thanks. I'm planning on reading the manga when the anime is done. The manga site that I'm using has up to 33 chapters or all of Vol 6 translated. I might end up buying the digital version of Volume 7 on MAL's manga store if new chapters don't come out.

Well I definitely enjoyed that little interrogation scene. Very sexy imo ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜. Great to see more of Hank. Glad that isn't following the same plot throughout the episodes like with some of the first couple episodes. I honestly couldn't take Saachal seriously. I hope she gets more impactful scenes in the future episodes. I have a feeling that Cain might kill his father.

Final battle is ahead, but no doubt Cain will be far away for a while. They'll surely take this fortress, because of their amazing suicidal techniques (rushing like a maniac on an open field, under canon & rifle fire) lul

Anyway, I know these methods were used by Napoleon who was undoubtly one of the greatest strategist in the History. But I'd never wish to be on the first front line.

I'm actually a bit sad - as usual - to realize that next Monday will be the last week with this show. Hoping for another season someday !

-I hope we get to see more of Miles' morals. They seem to be not so sturdy.
-I find it kind of odd that that General guy brushed off the reports of a 2nd incarnate so easily.
-The trench-crossing thing kind of reminds me of the stories of the Tuefelhunden. Funnily enough, Hank's incarnate form is kind of a devil dog.
-I really didn't expect Miles to recover so easily from that thunder spear.
It was an alright episode. There were a few bad animation moments.
One more episode, fellas. Let's see if this anime manages to screw over the whole show with the finale.

The reasons behind wars go so deep. I'm pretty anti-war myself, but anti-war media isn't going to do a thing.
The majority of Americans have wanted our soldiers home for a long long time, and no matter which president makes what promises, we still haven't gotten them home, despite our very vocal complaints.
Not only that, but it looks like we're going to fight Israel's war too, despite what American want.
If politicians don't care about the opinions of the majority, then they aren't going to care about a TV series.
It is unfortunate.
Sorry if I ranted a bit, haha. I shouldn't turn this thread political.

Would you say this is a good pace for an ending? For some reason it seems like it's gonna feel rushed. I mean, they'll have to take down Miles, the Fortress, and Cain. Then again, I haven't read the manga, so I can't say...

Lol, that interrogation scene was indeed pretty "50 shades" xD

Overall, another average episode. Seeing Schaal going back to her useless self sure was a disappointment but considering how inconsistent this series tends to be, I wasn't really surprised in the end.
I guess she'll be of importance next episode since that general most likely plans to kill the Centaur and Hank at the same time but since it's the last episode, anything she does won't make her more relevant to my eyes. Without a doubt, of the worst characters this season has offered.

That said, there is one more episode to go and I have absolutely no idea of how they will conclude this arc without it feeling rushed or forced in the end.

I wonder how it'll end. At least it didn't stay as a monster of the week anime.

Overall I didn't mind it, it was deeper than I expected on a psychological level, but the plot was meh

Looks like Cain's been busy while Hank and Schaal were elsewhere. The units uniform fits Hank surprisingly well. Hmm a centaur that has unmatched skills at archery huh. With his defeat the siege will get even bloodier. Even though Schaal has already been in combat it still must be hard for her to see the soldiers prepare for such a large scale battle. Her reactions to Hank's words though was cute. The battle to storm the fortress though was pretty impressive. The plan to draw Miles out though sure proved to be a costly affair. The insight into Miles past and the views he had on the war was insightful. Its a unfortunate truth but the nature of war often ensures that the people you helped will often come back in bags no matter how hard you tried. Overall an interesting ep that served to advance the story to the endgame with a fitting siege of Cain's new fortress. Though im curious as to what Cain's true plans are though. He' way too smart to get trapped here. Looks like backstabbing is still prevalent in this new era.

Despite this being the 2nd last episode, the plot took one step forward, two steps back. This should've happened at least like the prior episode back as a setup for the battle between Hank feat. Coup de Grace vs. Cain and his Incarnates henchmen.

Cain's new Kingdom and his castle fortress are spotted. The final battle is inevitable. Fighting Miles the Centaur was no surprise in tactics and strategy-wise.

At this point, other than being the killer of Incarnates, Schaal is demoted, and I say, DEMOTED, to plot device, whom her character was, all those episodes ago, is lost in both action and sense. Rather than being Hank's helper, she is floating all around the place. At least she correlates with Hank in the peace of mind.

Let the raid begin. With more casualties when Miles appear on-screen. Being a doctor first and foremost, helping comrades heal post-battle, to now being a warrior in battle to oppose the humans in their annihilating-beasts conquest.

However, we've reached the point where even the cliffhanger doesn't tell the entire story, the tide of the war still hangs in the balance.

The Start of Troubles Ahead, more like close to the end of the trouble itself.

Hum, I find the pace & rythm generally good. Honestly, I was afraid this anime would go on the following schedule : episode 1=introduction, episode 2=killing Incarnate 1, episode 3=kiling Incarnate 2, etc etc. So I'm globally satisfied since it also advanced in the plot (this is by far not a very rich story but it moves forward).

About the pace adopted for the last episodes, I think it was expected that a final battle would take place. But at least each side was "introduced" decently. I definitely find the pace is at a normal speed : not too slow, not too fast.

But the difference between you and me, is that you think they will (quoting you) "take down Miles, the Fortress, and Cain". I absolutely disagree with the fact Cain will be taken down. For me, it has been clear that he would leave and keep his doings on his own. I see him as the mastermind who plays his own game and doesn't hesitate to sacrifice those he does not need anymore.

Caught this anime due to Schaal's seiyuu, Kakuma Ai. So glad I did because I very much am enjoying it all 11 eps. So far the pacing imo is perfect. It reminded me of a few older series I watched before that uses the same formula: Mystery/Monster/Drama/etc of the week.

As I see it, Schaal, may not be the kick@ss sidekick heroine, but the travel companion to the MC that will witness and tell the tale about the tragic end of the Incarnates. Which by doing so will in turn shed a different light upon how they are viewed many years later.

I really like the short peek into the Incarnate's past that they do every episode. Sometimes I feel like some anime that spend a good portion or a whole dedicated ep to a bad guy's past and their downfall is too much. This works for this anime in the way that only Hank truly goes through the pain of having to slay his former comrades while burdened with the memories they spent together as captain and squadmates while the viewers are given Schaal's perspective and only knows as much as Hank is willing to tell her.

Hopefully the anime concludes on a satisfying note as a 2nd season may not be likely for this genre.

Enjoyed the episode. The centaur is tougher than expected. That's some super strong regeneration he has there. Maybe the new weapon would help defeat this opponent?

Funny when the soldiers don't want Schaal to help, but they dump a whole lot of work for Liza. xD

Really? Your way of torturing him is with BDSM? lol

Thank you Schaal for pointing out the obvious, although by that same logic no one should even consider your "If he becomes Fenrir again, I will stop him".

I liked the conversation between Hank and Schaal. It was nice to see Hank laugh.

I feel like the whole idea of attacking the fortress is a bit of a stupid plan.
They got a mountain, a forest and a river between the capital and the enemy stronghold. They showed it on the map.

You can't have any better defensive terrain than this. Whoever attacks is going to have to grind through difficult terrain. Attacking that fortress is going to be a logistical nightmare let alone plenty of locations for ambush along the way.

Pretty much the same for New Patria, if they wnat to attack the capital. They'll have to cross the mountain in which Federal forces can ambush them. To cross the mountain, they'll have to go through mountain passes or a valley which is perfect kill zones.
The forest are filled with foliage to give defenders plenty of locations to ambush.
Then there's a river(s) that would force the attackers to cross a relatively small riverbank. Slowly wading through water in the open.
Set up a few Gatling guns on the opposite side of the river and watch the river turn red. The capital is defended so well by natural geography that a preemptive strike was completely unnecessary.

Otherwise, cool episode.
