Also, I just happen to remember the merchant. Last time he was with pirate on ship, then Ogre pirate come back to fight, merchant was nowhere to be seen. His fate unknown? Probably captured and kill by Mongols, but I am sure his type is hiding in woods.

Given the kind of guy he is, I think he managed to hide.
The mongols didn't had time to thoroughly search the isle, hiding anywhere else while they were concentrated on the Tobarai castle was a winning choice.

what a brutal ending! The last battle between Kuchi and Ryuu was boring to be precise cause it lacked spark and interest.

I felt some deaths were forced though as a cleanup. As for Kuchi I was surprised that the girl he thought of was his daughter, he sure was a strict parent.

I guess Kyushu is next since they've destroyed this place. 4/10.

The OP is pretty dope after watching this finale. Very fitting. Bittersweet ending obviously. Lots of good people died. I wonder. Was Jinza a real person, or was he just created for this anime? I know nothing about history like this.

I don't think there will be a season 2. This was the first invasion of that island right? Hopefully they do make a season 2 of the second invasion. They certainly gave the opportunity of a second season if they could make one.

Well that exceeded my expectations. I doubt this will get a season two though, since it doesn't seem that popular.

7/10 Best anime NAZ ever did. Jinzaburou and ThirstyHime were the best.

There won't be a second season because they adapted whole manga (with a lot of skipping).

Very enjoyable series. As expected more deaths followed, but it was realistic.

Poor Kano. At first I was surprised that she would give in to despair and want to strangle princess, but then I understood what she was aiming for. Good it indeed wasn't so. Kuchii surviving is a bit of a plot armor, but I guess it can be forgiven. Too bad they never told us what happened to Sana after she dived into the sea, and Amushi, though it looked like a fatal wound. But one can hope it just looked the part. I rooted for them. Also too bad they didn't show Onitakemaru's fight with the Mongol general.

Graphics of this anime was unique and interesting too. It also did a good job setting era atmosphere, and atmosphere of fight for survival against all odds.

Also I think it's realistic some people survived. It's not that easy to kill/capture all people hidden in the woods that they are more familiar with than attacker, especially since Mongols were time constrained on top of it. So some civilians surviving makes sense.

Overall I guess I will give it 8/10.

Solid anime, not outstanding but I like these fairly-straightforward historical ones. My main gripe was that filter that was put over everything - I get it, but it's a terrible idea. Still, this is one of the few series I'll probably re-watch one of these days.
...but then again, I unironically like Warau Salesman.

At first, i didn't realize that this series will turnout to be like this in the end. i never thought each one of them ( jinzaburou squad ) will tragically die one by one as the story goes on.

the great point that i get from this series is how they elaborate many aspects in the war perfectly, such as how the value of life in a war, emotion state for every people inside the war, how every people see themselves in the war, and more of it.

truthly, every tragical death each one of the character especially the important one(jinzaburou squad) quite touching and sadden for me, so i think they really great at elaborating it, and give a meaningful value for each of it.

I don't know if this series already covered all the stories or not (definitely manga since, it was already finished), maybe i'll read the manga later to confirm it, and of course, i really wish for sequel if the actual story itself is not finished yet.

and The OP was one of my fav OP for this summer, and ED was also great too and i think both of them really fit the series

Well its 9/10 for me

Jinzaburou is Alpha as fuck, the battle between him and Mongol Vice marshal was great. The ending is kinda cliffhanger or will there be a 2nd season of this series ? since the Marshal is still alive and Jinzaburou said tbe battle of Tsuhima isn't over yet.

Overall score 8/10

The last thing I wanted was for the princess and Kuchii to be reunited. I was hoping she was really dead.

I guess the Mongol's killed Kano after they raped her. *sigh*

Now I'm pissed. I was planning to read the manga and see Jinzaburou killing the (almost) all the mongols officers...

8:14 great directing man, such tragic moment but we get a somewhat upskirt shot of the lady.. 10/10 reason why anime today suck

oh yea, when they captured Kano the one soldier said "do not hurt her" lmao they really wanted to get across the rape vibe so badly she was undressed immediately in the middle of a war.. and the thing that's wrong with "do not hurt her" is that they rather risk their life over a pussy.. such great writing.

and finally, hime-sama reunited with Jinzaburou, happy happy ending, yay! Honestly feel like a cop-out. Whole series of tragedy just to pull hime x Kuchii shipping at the end. As much as I like happy ending, and this ending, the change of tone is just so abrupt..

The part that I hated the most are the romance / fluff / fanservice. Kuchii was there for less than a week and hime's sole reason to continue living is to ride Kuchii's D, as if she did not have a history of her own, personality of her own, ambition of her own, and live only for a man she met less than a week ago. Oh, you see a little girl over there? Let's pair her up with the little boi we have in our gang. There's even a girl for the tattoo guy that we barely even got introduced to before they both died. Let's do the "blush blush" in the middle of the war, aye? Tension? Who needs that, we need cute girls looking cute as fek.

There's tons of bad attempt at comedy in this series too, which is just so off the mark.. as well as unneeded fanservices.

Just coming off Qin's Moon where everything feels more geniune / in depth, this is a really poor reflection of imo what anime can really be. Lazy characterization, lazy characters backstory/history, lazy development (ohh hoodlums/badguys all became good guys in the end, let's fight for an island we've been deported to just to die, ayyyyy!!), and even the story amounts to nothing by the end of the series, all we got was everybody died, hime still have a chance at riding Kuchii's D, and Mongols haven't got any girls for years.

It doesn't help that it's a 12 episode series, would've helped imo if it's longer. I hate the cour-based restriction on anime, instead of having a more free schedule where the story goes at its own pace and end it when the time is right.

I thought this show was quite good. I loved the action and the battles. It was tragic but inspiring to see how most of the exiles and Toibarai fought a hopeless war till their bitter end. And it's understandable why the characters weren't given enough development considering the whole invasion of Tsushima takes place in a week or so as the Mongols were on a tight schedule apart from the fact that this anime was only 12 episodes long. I didn't care much about the romance but it was an acceptable change for an anime with mostly bloody battles and tragic deaths. I loved the OP song too it seemed to fit so well with the theme of the show.

I didn't get the part in the first episode of the mongols trying to abduct Teruhi or why Jinzaburo spared Liu in the last episode.

I guess the ending took me by surprise as I thought the story was over as the Mongols turned towards Kyushu. But I guess the story is far from over. Anyways I read a bit about about the Mongol invasion of Japan which was very interesting so I hope this gets a season 2 but seeing how underrated this show is I doubt it.

This series was surprisingly good. I was worried as some of the fights/battles were poorly choreographed (e.g. back flip onto the ship in the middle of the sea from the middle of the land or how sometimes position of people didn't make sense) but it turned out not to distract from the overall dark and gritty plot. I am glad I watched this, a bitter sweet end.

A very bittersweet end, but it was always going to be since it is based on actual history. Good show, though. I wish there were more shows like this, but I guess these kind of shows are not very popular.

Disliked the filter over the entire anime, and the animation was pretty rough around the edges, but it kept my attention from start to finish. Very interesting ending; not like anything I'd expected to see.

I really enjoyed this show, it was better than what i expected 8/10. Only thing im disappointed about is why jinzaboru left vice marshal alive. Glad that princess united with mc, bittersweet end.

Enjoyed quite a bit. Well-paced, interesting characters, good animation. Only quibble would be MC's last line, "We can still fight." Uh, well maybe you can, MC. But the Mongols killed/enslaved ~99% of the rest of the people on the island.

Spammend the whole anime in 1 day.
(Haven't done it in a while) Great anime.

Poor Kano...
Kind of glad Tatsu died first and Nagamine tried to revenge for her and protecting the citizens.

Worth to watch, sad there's no S2.
Would love to see the survivors take revenge
