Holy shit.
I dunno what I expected, but it was certainly not this.
Amazing art Style, reminding me of Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Akira and other late 90's early 00's anime
The music also reminds me a lot of cowboy bebop. Amazing

I am not a fan of sports anime but this here got my interest immediately.

Aside from the blur, this episode was top notch and a really exciting start, cannot wait for ep 2 to finally see some real boxing from junkdog

I just hope the plot doesnt end up being the same as ashita no joe, just cause we all know how it will end and that kind of takes away a bit of the suspense if its just redoing literally the single most iconic anime scene of all time.

Honestly the first 2 minutes sold me on this anime. The rest was just icing.

Really love the old school 90's feel to the art/animation.

Wow the gritty Western style, music, GAR characters everywhere & intense animation with some fightclub style editing & slomo.
Didn't know TMS could make such a cool style.
Mc sounds just like Orga Itsuka. All the va's got so much manliness more than cg souten no Ken.

The animation looks pre2k-ish, haven't watch ashita joe but I felt cowboy bebop vibe here from the animation and music. Love the ED's smooth style, with a matching retro lights. Haven't watch much boxing in a long while after Hajime no Ippo.

looks like the dark horse of the season

You can tell the show was mastered digitally because of the digital effects they use (depth of field, some lighting effects, etc.), but the linework is just impeccable!
I think this is the first time I've seen digital linework that truly looks EXACTLY like a hand-painted CEL would. Like, I'm honestly still in awe. I'm sititng here questioning if the linework is even digital or not. I know a lot of anime production is still done traditionally and the clean-up is done on computers, but did they perhaps find some way to do clean-up traditionally and still color digitally? Speaking of the colors, the color palette is bringing me straight back to the 90s with it's muted colors giving me a heavy Cowboy Bebop vibe. The flow of the animation also gives me that vibe, although perhaps I would compare it more to something like Redline (yes, it's THAT good). Character design is also top-notch and gives off an 80s anime tone.

More shows should go for a style like this!

You should check out Gundam G no Reconguista, it uses a similar style of line art although it emulates a more '80s style in look and feel.

The gear looks more badass than the first PV but still a bit stupid and clunky. However the anime is better than I expected, it was an exciting episode. The one thing I didn't considered at first when criticizing the gear was how much bloody would the matches could be *_*

I can't not draw parallels with the Ashita no Joe characters and that makes it even more enjoyable.

Some moments were too "shonen" for me (i know, i'm watching anime and that's just anime stuff) but i really wish something really unexpected happened.

It resembles a bit too much with Levius which has some brutal moments and top notch drawings, so maybe because of that it didn't really"click" with me.

It was good/ok for a first episode, and a nice start.

3.5/5 in this case for me.

It is an interesting art style, the story so far is... well, let's say that I'm not into this sort of narrative for a reason, but hey maybe, probably it will grab me throughout if the MC is entertaining and charismatic enough. Either way, it was entertaining and the old school aesthetics are nice, and I guess I'll get used and fonder of its setting as I watch more episodes. What I didn't like however is the... how do I call it... juvenile edgy vibes it has. At points it looks like a movie by Tarantino or Ritchie, except taken way too seriously and without a fitting sense of self-awareness. That shot of the vomited blood was beyond unneccessary and very cringey. Either way, it is probably a problem of not being able to set the tones right in this first episode.

I dont think it will be a good idea to expect anything not "shounen" or whatever that implies given that this is just a soft remake of ahita no joe, one of the single most successful and influential shounen series ever if not the single most given how much it rippled into the medium as a whole even today.

yoooooo this was a super dope episode. I loved the style immediately. Almost everything about this episode was badass. This one is going to be fun to watch.

-Junk Dog is sick. Love his personality. Literally a DAWG chained up, and at the end up the episode he broke free from his chain.

-Yuri looks sick, and I always love a revered antagonist going up against the underDAWG protagonist. Cant wait to see their final fight.

-Boxing is a great sport to make an anime out of especially if you add different aspects to it. Loved the premise right away.

-Overall this episode was about a 4/5 for me. Not perfect, but still good enough to hook me for the rest of the season. I feel like I could probably binge watch this if all 13 episodes came out and be satisfied.

First half was trite common place shit that I've seen before, boxer taking Ls for money, and then it picked up real quick near the end. I like the fact that he did get back in the ring for money before the champ showed up, it's a bit different from other stories that are similar.

Now if they can keep it interesting, though there is no source material and its a spinoff project so we will see how it goes. I don't want 12 episodes of ring fighting and flash backs though because that would be trash and you would ultimately know where the show was headed in the very end.

Reckon he will get his ass handed to him but will show some skill which Yuri will appreciate it considering the shithouse gear he is wearing.
