I loved this episode. It was really touching. I'm glad Nadeshiko's grandfather amd Sakura's father settled everything. ^_^

Holy shit this episode is like 100/10. Such a powerful ending and no shitty supernatural fight. So sad that this series wasted all of its slice of life potential for magical shit.

I do agree with you on this. The episode wasn't bad but I would have preferred something with a little more action.

Poor Kero though.

Really sweet episode. I'm glad they spend time on showing background for Sakura's family.

I remember watching this episode on TV when i was a kid, but can't remember that Touya and I shares the same birthday. At the same time my brother and i's age gap is also seven years. What a cute coincidence!

Every time this happens I just start hating the show more and more. I feel like just completely skipping scenes where Touya and Yukito are together now since they are just waste of time and unneeded padding.

This stands out. This is Sakura in her "mundane" day to day life: no cards to catch, or people to save—and so we are invited to observe as she simply roams around, letting her attention and action gravitate towards plain things (like making a present for her grandfather) and see them be done in the most childlike and sincere way. To the impatient the ep may appear to be "just another filler" that "adds nothing" when compared to the plot-enforced action that covers most of the show. But less is more. Above all card catching, it's moments like these—spontaneous and simple—that remain once the show ends.

Sweetest episode thus far.

Liked that mature side of Sakura, telling her dad that he isn't a bad guy. Her enthusiasm was quite cute. She tells Toya to play the song and then uses the card to summon flowers.

Good comedy here. Like Sakura sending Kero flying and towards the TV twice. Poor Kero but gotta admit the scenes were funny.

Sakura's dad and the grandfather had a very touching scene.

This was a great episode. Dramatic, but in a good way.
Somehow the majority of these episodes really grab my attentions, while in another series I'd be bored to tears and losing my mind.

And who expected an episode of transition, oh well! Forgive this pause, seeing how touching the narrative is. In addition there is that family relationships return to improve and this in a general framework is still relevant to leave nothing pending in the general history.

great ep and all, but now the family issues are settled, why not see your grandchildren if you already near? I don't get it, the same thing as in the episode with the summer house vacation.

Very strange episode. Sakura's dad is so emotionless. He even admits that it's understandable why someone wouldn't want an adult teacher marrying their 16 year old grandkid. The pedophilia is real in this show.
I'm also at a loss why Sakura isn't allowed to meet her great grandfather. It's definitely weird. But hopefully they do get to meet someday... otherwise it was really sweet.

That dress Sakura's great grandfather bought her wasn't as cute as the previous one!

But I liked this warm hearted episode, especially when Sakura's dad had a heart to heart with Nadeshiko's grandfather.

Listening to Touya playing the song his mother had taught to him gave me too much feels. The song's chillingly beautiful despite its simplicity and it makes me feel all too nostalgic and warm inside that I can't help but cry up over it for a few minutes. The emotional impact was also compounded by Touya's memories of him learning the song with his mom... Nadeshiko's seriously one of the best mothers in anime even if she never appeared in the show except for flashbacks.

It's great that the two of them finally got to talk to each other and clear the air between them before it was too late. Fujitaka acknowledged the fact that his relationship with Nadeshiko started really weirdly and Gramps forgave him for it and admitted that he was too quick to judge their love for each other. It's still a bit weird but this was in the '90s.

+1 to the weird art in this episode, seemed like a one off though.

Also a bit confused that they aren't revealing to Sakura who gramps is, does he intend to keep it that way?

Oh, so Sakura was born at April 1st.. Nice to know..
Well.. Dad is really not accepted by other family members who loved Nadeshiko, it seems.. Poor dad.. Well, at least Sakura supported him in the talk, which is nice.. Dad needs support too, really.. As who knows, if he'll ever become depressed and will start thinking that it was his fault after all that Nadeshiko died, as some other family members say..
Oh, so Nadeshiko means some flowers?.. Makes sense, why would she want to name Sakura as Sakura as well then..

Card Cure Captor which is a rarety amongst Clamps discomfy characters.
Kinda refreshing even more than Clear Card due to the fact that the Captor in title is not just for them cards but just the tip of a jailbait loli iceberg.
Nothing to do with woke by the way.
Its pedo innuendo flirting with inseki most of the time and gayish to make matters worse.
Truly disappointing these Clamps old hags when editors and producers agree on preventing them of murdering loveable characters by throwing them at each others throats like some Tomino Gun them all or Nagai Devil Go.

That was a good episode, but it bears repeating that there's absolutely zero reason to keep the identity of Sakura's great-grandfather a secret from her. Zilch, nada. Especially now that gramps and dad have cleared up their issues.

"I wonder if I'll meet grandpa someday"
"I'm sure [you will]" -- what the fuck? How about "uh, yeah, you already have actually, remember the vacation house?" Fucking stupid anime shit. I suppose the little girls watching find this kind of dialogue captivating as the music swells in the background.

Speaking of stupid anime shit, one trope I usually hate is when important conversations keep getting cut off to drag out the plot. It's handled better in this show with Nakuru doing it intentionally, like in this episode...only there've no doubt been opportunities in which Toya could've told Yukito everything no problem, such as during one instance several episodes ago in which he was about to, but then they got distracted by Nakuru playing sports outside and then the conversation just ended without anyone explicitly interrupting them to pull one away from the other. Or they could, y'know, speak outside of school. At least try. Stupid, stupid. Regardless, even with Nakuru interrupting them on purpose, it's just blatant padding.

Sigh. I've complained a lot for what was ultimately still a good episode.

I actually found the episode to be funny and heartwarming, and can see how it connects to the bigger plot.

Eriol has been shady, and Sakura hasn't been able to pick up on that. Everytime he's around her, shit gets fucked up. Yet she never connects the dots. Even here, she doesn't ponder on him, but this is something that she's likely going to look back on. For one, he's shown to be a blatant liar around her. He becomes best friends with the liar, and they both tell lies together. This is obviously going to come up again.

This episode also is setting her up to officially meet her great grandfather.

Touching episode. I appreciate these episodes where we get a breather and have the chance to get a behind-the-scenes glimpse at mundane and authentic moments, even if it's filler.

Gramps still can't bring himself to meet Sakura (maybe he feels like the vacation house was enough), I suspect it's due to the fact he was absent from her life and thinks he doesn't have the right to interfere now. There is also the possibility that Daddy Kinomoto is still resentful and won't allow them to meet.

Character models and animation were off, but the episode was still great.

Oh lol Touya been born on the unfortunate day of February 29th which is a leap year day that only happens once every 4 years.
Some beautiful piano playing there by Touya, of course Nakuru would be there to ruin the mood.
Lmao poor Kero.
Now that is what you call a beautiful powerful emotional episode.
I have ADD, ADHD & AUTISM, but this won't stop me. Let's keep having fun together.
