Wow, I can somehwat understand the woman's feelings but stabbing Ginko .. rly ?
Scary episode. The worst kind of Mushi I think.
The ending, wut. The weirdest and most lively episode so far but I can't say I didn't like it.

Didn't like it as much as episode 14, which was somewhat similar and the best thus far. I think it's because of the atmosphere, that was more of a typical but darker Mushishi episode, while this felt too much like an episode from a more typical horror series or movie.

Hmm. So even if those kid doppleanger thingies are "fungii" in humanoid form....is it wrong for their mum to want to stay with them? And they were clearly able to feel too.

Creepy.

I was thinking: Burn down the house and collect the insurance.

...
Then it happened, and it wasn't exactly a good thing.

Ginko scammed the stupid woman at the end there it seems.

That was a very... quirky episode, but I loved it. It'd be awesome if that Ginko's new mushi companion shows up in the following episodes, though I kind of doubt it.

I died at Ginko's reactions when he woke up after being stabbed, too good. I also noticed he woke up without a cigar in his mouth, then fell back down with one. Was that an animation error or did it just skip a brief moment where he grabbed a cigar immediately after waking up from being stabbed? Makes more sense to be an animation error.

Holy shish, that was effin' tragic. A mushi that kills an unborn baby and then makes copies of that baby to gather food for itself? And if threatened, it will try to play with your emotions and burn your house down? JESUS.

This one of my favorites episodes so far because of how disturbing it is.

Perfectly sums up how dangerous this mushi was.

Wow, that was so creepy, but I loved it. I can't help but appreciate the psychological aspect of this episode. Raising kids for years and then learning that you have to kill them. On top of that, then you learn that they aren't actually your kids and that they killed your actual child! And then it gets even worse when they learn how to talk and beg you to live. Imagine being the parents. Holy crap, what an amazing episode.

I saw the yandere stab coming, when she bent down lol.
I was like NOOO GINKOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DONT LET THE YANDERE STAB KILL YOU!!!! OTHERWISE NO MORE MUSHISHI but luckily I know there is a season 2 so he cant die.. or can he.
Also great episode, Ginko the best deceiver for the better since he gave crystal for the sake that they dont end up in that mess again.
"Its not our fault".. "Its not our fault either"..."Then why?"..."Because we're stronger."
That was a cool quote by Ginko.
Yay for us being stronger.

Best episode yet, probably consider this my favorite episode of the series as well and would even go as far as saying among the best episodes I've seen in the anime medium as a whole thus far.

When Ginko was stabbed and is laid on the bed. He thought to himself "I wanna leave" with constipation kind of expression on his face. Haha! I really laughed there.
Same.

Thought it was really nice of Ginko to somewhat take advantage of the parent's naivety and give them the crystal in essence tricking them into believing that their kids may not come back within their life time thus saving them from the burden of worrying about this situation occuring again.

Loved this ep!
It's nice to have a darker ep again.
I wish Ginko had killed all of them from the beginning, but it wouldn't match his personality.

Glad he took the "fungus" kids away from the couple, it was the only way to protect them from something they didn't/couldn't understand and accept their true nature.

He is really smooth on that fooling game, giving a cristal instead the real mushi. I think he have done that in some previous ep...maybe the one of the green "plate" or the kimono one?
Anyway, even the mushi thinks Ginko is an interesting/odd creature. Loved it!

Well I won't sleep tonight... the preceding episodes were rather peaceful, and then it just went really creepy... not saying it's bad tho. In fact it's rather great. Nice to see a new, darker tone. I also like how it shows that mushi can really be scary and dangerous, yet they aren't evil.

Sure, stab the guy that's trying to help you and prevent more cases like this to happen again. Interesting to see that there are some times when Ginko does decide it's best to kill a Mushi if it's too dangerous to keep alive. Also interesting that he decided to keep the "root" in captivity rather than killing it. So if he sees an opportunity where the Mushi can stay alive and not harm people he'll take it as he usually does.

I started watching Mushishi more than three years ago, watching episodes very occasionally, but now I can't stop. It's episodes like this that make this series so good. All the attention to detail, and then episodes quite unexpected...

I loved the twilight vibe of this one, and as has been mentioned already it was quite creepy, better than most horror movies coming out!

That creepy voice of plant children and the children themselves reminded me Sanitarium, an old adventure game I played. It also had half human half plant children and their plant "Mother" which is actually a grotesque alien creature that transforms the children.

Dem parental instincts there. Probably one of the creepiest episode so far. Reminded me strongly of Shinsekai Yori (tho it should be the other way around considering the airing date)

Ginko getting stabbed made me worried tho. But he was so chill about it lol. He's amazing. Loved the scene when he said "But we are stronger."

Definitely wasn't expecting to see Ginko get shanked lol. I can't really condemn Aki for it though given everything she's been through.

I've always felt that the absolute worst thing a person can experience is the death of their child. Aki's faced that ordeal multiple times in the past, so you can only imagine how heavily it weighs on her mind and her heart.

She was just at a point where she couldn't bear to lose another son, and I totally empathize with that. At any rate, I doubt she would have done anything to harm Ginko if she hadn't been provoked by the mushi.

A great episode overall. Probably my favorite one so far. Really enjoyed the dark tonal shift.

Wow. Now this was delightfully dark. I felt bad for the parents but at times I couldn't contain my giddyness. Though it is a good question why Ginko trusted the parents to euthanize the little aliens; bit of a miscalculation at the very least.

Human are generally a far more complex beings that said existing on the surface. Sometimes, incomprehensible things like this episode on motherly love actually do happen in real life. Even Ginko himself was surprised by such a development. Perhaps, he believed that the parents will come to term with it and accept their children's death naturally upon knowing the true existence of their 'living' children.

Good points. But that was exactly what was odd to me. I was not at all surprised by the parents' reluctance to kill what appeared to be their children; I was surprised by Ginko's failure to predict this development. Not to say that this breaks the episode, in fact, it adds some more shading to Ginko's character as he was once again more fallible than I would have expected.

I found this to be the most screwed up Mushishi episode I've seen in a while. Blobs of slime that devours babies while they're in the uterus of the mother and replacing them with grotesque hive-minded copies of their supposed children is like something that's perfect for a horror movie. They were even willing to burn down the house along with them and successfully convinced the lady to stab Ginko in the gut so he wouldn't put them down. He really jinxed it by telling the girl from the previous episode that he might be gone tomorrow because of how dangerous his cases have become.

He's got a tiny talking companion now, oh my.

This is probably the most intense episode yet, and at the same time, eerie and violent. It's not exactly one of my favorites either. If anything, it acted as a means to keep me on the edge of my seat. The stabbing of Ginko, the sudden development of the children, not having a choice but to kill loved-ones -- all of these factors contributed to my engagement.

With all of that said, this episode was sub-par for me.

What a bizarre Mushi. Rather moral-revolving episode honestly. Killing them really would be hard for any parents; they're just like normal children until a certain age. Sad and awesome episode.

An episode that shows the eccentricity of Ginko well, but an example had already been seen in the previous episode, and with a narrative that, reading between the lines, is loaded with interesting messages, which rationally seem to be in contrast with each other. Quite disturbing to some extent the narration, at certain times.
