Interesting.

Weird ass terminology of the tech and a bit of a long exposition left me confused, but if the show can go past that and delve in it's themes in the next episode, all will be forgiven.

Also, I hated that "Trigger comedy" moments in the show. Don't throw in stupid comedy in a serious show, save that crap for Luluco!

Can be either really really really good, or really really really bad. It certainly caught my attention.

very slow beginning that gets to interesting in the last 2 minutes. the artstyle and character design in so generic and really wished that go for the wacky trigger/gainax style. well at least one girl had it all, the looks and mannerism that scream trigger.

Awesome first episode. Hopefully it will stay weird and awesome throughout the series.

Face-sitting for the win.

It just came to my mind that sharing pain in certain body parts won't work between the different genders (balls etc). I wonder if they'll ever address that?

A little confused but it was a very interesting first episode. This anime definitely has my favourite Art and Animation so far for Spring 2016....well done Trigger!!!!
Great OP and ED as well.
I am regretting not putting this anime in my Team for my Fantasy Anime League cause I think this has the potential to be anime of the season.

I'm not a Trigger fan by any means (I hated Kill la Kill) but so far I am REALLY digging this show. It's style is a lot less outlandish and it's art is so much cleaner. The soundtrack is sick as well- probably my favorite part. Yeah, a lot of the characters are cliches, but people need to realize this is 2016. There really aren't any character archetypes that haven't been used, so you're naturally going to see repeat characters through different series. I like most of the roster though.

I wasn't excited for this at all and given my past experience with Trigger I was on the fence about not bothering with it, but I'm glad I did. I'm really looking forward to the next episode.

The animation is really pretty and this storyline is very interesting -- it kinda gives a zankyou no terror feel. I like the characters so far, so we'll see how this anime develops. Can't wait for the next episode!

Well done Mari Okada, two interesting shows in one season. Personally looking forward to this more than Mayoiga at the moment. I see why people think this is similar to KLK, but this is pretty different imo. Excited to see where this goes.

Music was okaaaay. Didn't like the OP as much as others, sadly :c

And if they adjust to where you do feel something, everyone would be constantly dieing all the time, do you know how many people commit suicide a day?
But world peace would be achieved for sure this way, wouldn't it? With no able human left to wage war (or no human left at all). XD

smuganimeface said:
When the women pushes the mc from a fatal height she tells him he survived because the pain was divided, but in the very next seen when the girl punches the guy everyone feels the exact same amount of pain.
This is a plan inconsistency.
Convoluted yes, but not inconsistent. When crashing down the stairs he felt no pain, as usual, so the rest would not feel it either.

But then he regains his ability to feel pain the moment the girl slaps the guy, thanks to the weird implanted devices. The psycho girl proves this effect by shocking him, which now he feels normally, thus transmitting to the rest.

If you think about it, it all goes crassly in line with the stated philosophy where people will acquire empathy once they understand/feel others' pain.

You can say this is stupid (and convoluted), but it's actually quite consistent.

Probably the worst plot so far this season out of everything I am watching. I was constantly shaking my head thinking 'who wrote this shit" the entire time.

Also the mc is the most boring and least likeable of the season.

If a-ha made take on me in 2016 rather than in the 80's, I feel it would sound something like the OP. Certainly wouldn't be surprised if boom boom satellites took inspiration from that song :P

As for the actual episode, it certainly was... interesting, I guess. This was mainly a setup episode for the plot and characters, so I assume things will pick up next week. The characters all seem very rooted in their archetypes, so I hope they characterize and develop them well. Well, we will see how TRIGGER decides to play off the fact that everyone has insanely different personalities from one another, because that seems to be one of the driving factors of the core narrative.

Is the 7th really Noriko? Because I don't think she felt any pain
And from the OP I think there will be one more character, the purple one
And there's also the wiki image which consist 8 of them

Right now I'm really excited to see what this series becomes.
After Kill La Kill, which I loved, I was wondering what it would be like if Trigger tried doing something a little more serious, and I think that's what this will be. Looks like it could get pretty deep if it wants to. It feels like it's been too long since I've seen a really good thinker anime.

Trigger did not fail to deliver. There's a just a feel to their shows that is it's very own and that pleases me greatly They also gave us an OP to remember and not your standard J-Pop tune. Trigger shows always have decent music.
That mpressive ass attack followed by intense facesitting session, LOL.

Another Okada trainwreck? Another Okada trainwreck!

This feels like Wixoss all over again, just with trigger character designs. I can already see which character is which Okada trope even now. Cringed at "sharing pain" so hard. Can't wait for crazy Okada "twists" along the line of "you just accidentally fucked your brother, ain't that horrible?", as well as "This innocent character is actually a batshit crazy over-dramatic mastermind behind all of it"

3/5 for episode. Hopefully this will be funny enough.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought this.

They're trying to be super artsy but failing so hard when it came to dialogue and character.

It felt like it was trying to go for that monogatari vibe with character interactions but it fell flat.

If the show can bring the character out of the shit they're in now and make them interesting though, I can see this becoming a really good anime.

I wonder if the wounds are divided, but the actual pain itself is completely replicated, to allow them better chance of survival but also, make it so that the system would scale easily.

I don't understand about the sharing system. In the last part when Tenga was slapped they share the same pain. So what about MC fall from the stairs

Not sure about that, but since the MC does not feel pain, maybe there was no pain to share.

I feel so dizzy after watching the OP sequence :( Had to pause before continuing.
Kizuna System -- first thoughts are that, masochists and suicidal people are sold short because less pain. Next, other people with the connection have to bear the wounds due to someone being stupid ie. the woundee can manipulate the 'fates' of others, and resentment may build.
Noriko's talk explaining about Kasuhira was quite compelling. "They bully you because they can't find themselves within you."
Katsuhira's best friend is annoying and tsundere as fuck.
It was really cool how the party figured out how the Kizuna connection worked, literally. Tenga fondling boobs? Ironically enough, Tenga is a brand name of Japan's men's sex toys lol.
Episode ended on a high note. I like the idea of being bonded by more than just the surroundings/shared values. Like Noriko said, we all seek connections. This has the general feel of Zankyou no Terror.
So much flower imagery in the ED, what could it mean?
Think this has the potential to be a sleeper hit.

Edit: Kissanime's comments for this ep is worth a read. NSFW
