My first thought about ep16 was deffo that the point was that Subaru does not know how to conduct himself with others, rather than him being outright greedy, ja. It only occurred to me after viewing//when reading the thread that maybe the ep was highlighting another 'sin' of Subaru's, perhaps. But anyway: the best scene of the episode was Subaru being owned by the sadist. That much I'm certain of.
Also, was Mio in the nude? When I first saw the scene I wasn't sure cause most anime characters don't hang around their room hugging a stuffed animal in the nude all day...
... BTW, this is just a crack theory, but I remember her being too jumpy at the wind flipping her skirt in a previous episode... maybe she doesn't use underwear?
This is your post from Ano Natsu episode 5 a few years ago. After watching episode 6 that featured a Full Moon at the end, I see that your "crack" theory was spot on, and it perfectly explained the seemingly pointless scene of Mio panicking eventhough the wind hadn't blown up her skirt.
